Is anyone else tired/done waiting for US release

Im sure people are tired of waiting just like me. Im done waiting im going back on my g2x and waiting for Cyanogenmod 9. Google decided to whore itself to verizon, the reason i say whore is because they gave all the power and authority to verizon. Yes i understand that releasing the GN on verizon is good for business after all verizon is the largest carrier. But allowing verizon to paint there feces logo over a phone that has traditionally been a bloat and logo free developer phone is the first sign that verizon is calling the shots. No info on a US release for a phone that was announced almost 7 weeks ago is beyond frustrating its a horrible business plan and youve succesfully pissed away any chance of competing in holiday sales. The crazy thing is that the hype and demand was there not just on the phone and tech blogs.

Also consider the price factor. 800$ for a phone is just to much to swallow. When i purchased the nexus one at 530$ that was a softer blow, a more reasonable price for tech that really was cutting edge at its time, but 800$ for the 16gb version of a phone that has the same specs hardware wise of the SGSII, i cant do. Plus im sure that thats the price it will be once it does come to bestbuy or some other retailer for the 32gb gsm version if not more.

Im going back to my g2x and im eagerly awaiting the arrival of cyanogenmod 9, which will likely be coming to us some time in early January, probably around the same time that the gsm version is available in the US. With CM9 i get to keep my 8mp camera and my sd card slot not to mention my tegra games. I love the Nexus line im a strong supporter of android and google but i done waiting. CM9 will allow me to use the software with the hardware i want for now. In febuary i will be looking hard at a quad core tegra device. End of rant. Anyone else out there feel the same??

So your two actual complaints are that:

1) It has a Verizon Logo on the back
2) You wanted it sooner than promised.

I'm unsure how you can complain about the pricing of something that isn't known yet. Yes its probably not going to be $530. Best guess would be $649 since that is comparable to the RAZR which is priced at $799 at non Verizon Retailers. Is that what your basing your complaint from?

Then you mentioned the GSM version, I'm not sure what this has to do with your Verizon complaints? After all it doesn't suffer from problem 1 or 2. Or is the complaint that its $800 to import the phone now?

Your also pitching hype to a bunch of tech fiends/junkies here. Of course we know about the phone and want the phone. You've even got Cnet trying to help your argument by bringing the GN to the masses but its not happening. Simple facts are, these aren't iPhones, the public masses aren't going to be lined up for days trying to get one.

I can't get upset about a Logo no matter how hard I try, but that is certainly everyone's personal opinion. There isn't much to do there short of attempt to remove it or buy another battery door if you opt for the Verizon version.

I'm sorry that your frustrated the phone isn't available in the US yet. However I'm guessing that your right and your G2X with some CM loving will be a fine phone for months to come =)

Who know's maybe Google can manage to pull off a Motorola Nexus w/Samsung Screen/Exynos 2/ RAZR case build quality, and Moto radio power...

Hoping you find the experience your looking for!

I'm guessing $699 pricing as a compromise with the high end 16gb $649 iPhone 4S, $749 and $849 versions.

Pricing it at $649 to match a 16gb iPhone 4S would just be pathetic IMO. How much inferior are you going to admit to iPhones when you're already a 4G device with a larger screen and 16gb more storage?

While the GSM variant is the one I would use, I am sort of disappointed with the lack of information regarding it's 32GB model, if at all. As much as I understand cloud storage can offset the lack of SD, for me, it would not work so well and I am getting ot the point where I might just way for a future phone, like SG3

Im sorry i know my post might come of as the rantings of a mad man. There are just so many things that have bothered me about this device and as time goes on it gets worst. The first slight problem was the lack of an sd card slot, but hey no big deal the cloud plus 32 gb i figured i would survive. the next thing was the verizon exclusivity, nothing i could do but wait. But then the rumors of release dates and then the fact that 7 weeks later and still no option from any us retailer or any of the big 4. Then the fact that there are verizon apps on it and the verizon logo, yes i realize there a few small apps and that its just a logo but in my mind that represents the lost of the previous standard that nexus devices offered which was no carrier bloat ware pure google, no carrier logos just with google and the maker of the device. The fact that verizon dragging there feet delays the rest of the carriers from getting it. Plus now that the source code for ICS is out developers are busy hacking away at it to get ICS on other devices. I feel like theres less and less reason to get a US galaxy nexus. Especially when you consider newer devices with better specs are on the horizon. Im just frustrated because i know that had it released in October or November i would own one, but now that its December and CM9 is looming i really cant justify it anymore in my mind. Its fine no big deal, but i was one of the biggest fans of this phone, and i know that they lost a customer so i wondered if anyone else was also going for another device or holding out for CES and the plethora of other devices coming soon.

Verizon exclusivity? Um... no...

In my humble opinion, anyone who would pay more than $400 for a phone, any phone, that will probably be obsolete in about a year has way too much money to burn. ;)

Every time when I upgrade to a new phone, I always go for the two-year contract to get the discounted price, and it is usually around $299. And if you are fortunate to be able to use your NE2, you can get additional discount.

The phone is just a brick without carrier's service and there is no reason for me to leave Verizon Wireless. So I have to be a complete idiot to not to go for the two-year contract deal.

Frankly, I have gone through this waiting game every single time when I want to upgrade to a new phone that I want. We can search through the Android Forum history and we can find the exact same conversation on the release of a hot phone. So this is really nothing new, and it is really no big deal. The world is not going to end if I have to wait a little longer. Besides, my Fascinate is working just fine. I don't mind to wait. :)

Wow....I been away a few days and the Nexus fever and Anger is still running high!

Anyone who defends what Vzw is doing or has done is blind IMO!

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh...but Verizon's greed is just very hard to swallow. I would have absolutely no gripe if vzw came out and said...

Hey Android nation we are really excited to be able to bring you a pure Android experience on lightning fast LTE...however we are experiencing some hurdles that were unforeseen and with that being said the phone is not 100% ready for prime time. We should have this wonderful device in everyone's hands right in time for Christmas....so stay tuned!

Instead they're staying very mum without a peep, and would rather not say a word because they think it will hurt Razr sales by acknowledging that the phone even really exists at the moment...just bad business in my eyes.

Either way...its a botched release!

Ok this is the thing, the hardware specs on the galaxy nexus are nice but there nothing earth shattering. So the real pull that the GN has is software, every single review that ive read has said that. But this is the thing if the phone doesnt release for another week or two then theres a good chance that a gsm version wont come out till january. By then ICS will have been ported and the software edge will be gone. Dont get me wrong the screen size and the notification led are really nice features but thats really all your losing especially if your using a tmobile GSII, which has all the hardware except the screen resolution, Plus with a rooted GSII you get a better camera and an sd card slot. Not to mention that the RAZR on verizon is another great example of great hardware, imagine that running a ported version of ICS, or any other phone out there that has similar specs. I know im not the only one thinking this. And if this phone is for tech enthusiast like the people on this forum then you really lost out on the chance to grab you main targeted audience. Especially considering that quad core phones will hit the market in 2-3 months. I feel that this delay and giving verizon as much control as they seem to have has made the GN just another device when this was suppose to be the champion of android.

I agree. If the Nexus had launched anywhere near the time of the SGSII (remember when the Verizon sources were saying "oh just wait, we didn't get the SGSII for you all because we've got this amazing other phone that you'll just loooooove") it would have been like chum in the water and the buying frenzy would still be going on.

Now it's like "hey we've got this really cool device yeah it's not totally vanilla like we were leading you on to believe and oh by the way no SD card and don't pay attention to the 5Mpx camera spec because it's all about the sensor anyway" blah blah blah

What's the point? That's why I went RAZR (<--- which is probably what VZW wanted me to do). I will go check out the GNex when it finally arrives because I am curious, but I just don't believe it will be a device light years ahead of anything else, like it would have been 3 months ago.

Razr/Rezound, SGSII and others will get official ICS next year but with UI skin and bloats. So it won't be the same stock ICS experience like in Nexus. I just want to have stock ICS experience on HD SAMOLED screen updated by Google.

It's true that quad cores are coming next year with far stronger performance than Nexus. But others like Razr/Rezound, SGSII will be outdone by them just as well. For me that's doesn't bother much as I don't use phone as my main gaming device and apps that can use quad core is still long while away. I will be getting transformer prime or similar tablet anyway.

A few of you are saying the Razr is better than the GN but honestly it has the same cpu and gpu, same RAM, non-removable battery, locked bootloader, worse screen the only things better are it has an sd card slot, camera is 8mp and its actually available now. So if I was going to buy a phone over the Nexus I would probably wait because I don't think either of the 2 flagship phones out now are much better. I would get the Rezound over the Razr if anything but I'm just saying if I was going to pick a phone over the GN it would have to be the SGS2 or wait for the new quad-cores to come out in a month or 2.

I have played with the Razr and while I like how thin it is, I don't care for blur or whatever they call it now. I haven't played with the Rezound and Sense is nice, but I am over it. I loved my international Galaxy S II and have been missing it.

But the short time I just received my international Galaxy Nexus I am telling you it is worth the wait. Man this device is nice, sexy, screen is terrific, keyboard seems a lot better(one thing I loved about the iphone, I feel as though this could be my first android keyboard that matches it to me), phone is fast but so was the Galaxy S II.

I am sure you guys won't be disappointed if you wait, and from the recent rumors it shouldn't be too much longer for you guys.

Wait it out, the phone is worth it, the software is the icing on the cake for this phone.

The RAZR actually has a worse cpu, same gpu afaik. (Not by any huge margin, but technically it is a step down)

I personally think that once you lock onto a product, you either wait for it or something better. Don't settle for something less just because it's been delayed. Settle for something better or equivalent. The last thing you want to do is purchase an inferior product just because it's "out now," only to look longingly at the desired product a few weeks later as you realize that you're outside of the return/exchange window and locked in for 2 years.

I gave up on the Nexus for many reasons, but the primary was that I found something better for my individual needs. However, for those of you who still feel that the Nexus is the best phone for your needs (and it is a flat out AMAZING device!), keep waiting. Be patient. Trust me, this thing is worth the wait.

OMAP 4430 vs OMAP 4460

You actually have it backwards. What you listed, OMAP 44x0, is a SOC, not a CPU. The SOC contains the CPU, GPU, and other components. The OMAP 4430 and 4460 both contain a dual-core Cortex A9, and in this case, clocked at 1.2ghz. They're the same CPU at the same speed. The difference is that the GPU, PowerVR SGX540, is clocked differently on the two SOCs. The GPU on the 4460 is clocked higher for various reasons.

So, to conclude, you got the CPU and GPU reversed. Maybe one will have more headroom for overclocking than the other, maybe not. But, Motorola is selling the RAZR at 1.2ghz and seems to think that it will work at that speed. If it doesn't for more than a large percentage, you'd see recall issues. This 4430 vs. 4460 thing has gotten out of control.
