no Preorder, latest official announcement could come on the 8th...although I'm sure there would be employee leaks. If we don't hear about shipments or other leaks by tuesday, I'd be very worried about a Dec. 8th release.

I agree, I would think we would hear some solid info on shipments, promotional materials, etc at least 2-3 days prior. But of course we have been fooled before

I can't stop myself from asking this.

Are people using voice recognition software (on their phones or computers) that doesn't recognize the different homophones, like

they're =/= their =/=there or

your =/= you're,

or do people not know the difference, or do they not care?

In addition to voice recognition and those choices -

You left off "so busy doing eight things at once that these sort of mistakes happen more often in an informal forum than for formal documents."

If someone talks to me (often occurrence) while I'm typing, I'll transpose the spelling of what they just said vs. what I intended to - happens a lot.

And - English is not everyone's first language, neither is typing it all out an equal skill.

That's why we allow gentle, well-intentioned corrections if both parties are cool, but otherwise - site rules say no spelling or grammar police. (Not accusing you of that - just this spelling/grammar thing is a common pet peeve for many folks and I don't want the s/g police coming out next, yes?)

We all make missteaks. :) ;)

There's always going to be a better phone in a few months. A few months from now, I'm sure the hardware in the GNex is going to be eclipsed. I'd rather have your Bionic than my DX. ;)

You can always sell your phone and buy a GNex. There are plenty who do things like that. But it's going to get quite expensive, and some die hards are willing to pay that price.

Yeah that's the plan as of now, I waiting on a refurb unit in the mail due to my headphone jack decision to stop working entirely. I guess the random reboots, various bugs and hissing audio wasn't enough. I had an AMOLED HTC Incredible for 2 years before this phone and ran CM7 on it, that thing was a beast. :cool:

I've always been fond of the Nexus devices though, they at least have some lasting appeal and quality construction. I'm guessing this is due to the oversight of Google.

Not ringing any bells.

2001: A Space Odyssey. We find a black monolith on the moon that is obviously alien made. It's emitting a signal linking it to one of the moons of Jupiter.. where there is a massive monolith on one of Jupiter's moons. The main character starts approaching the monolith and his last words are, "My God.. it's full of stars!" Seeing that big picture of the Galaxy Nexus reminded me of the huge monolith. :D

Probably the most famous character in the movie is HAL, a computer that starts killing the astronauts on their journey to Jupiter. The movie can be a bit difficult to watch and understand, it's got a lot of symbolism and philosophy tied up in it but it's quite good.

Side note: On one of my trips to Ireland, I had the pleasure of staying in an old manor house that the owners run as a bit of an upscale bed and breakfast. One of the other guests was Keir Dullea, the actor who played Dave Bowman in the movie. Was very interesting to chat with him about his experiences making the movie, what he thought the ending was and what Kubrick was like. Very enjoyable time sitting in an 18th century drawing room drinking wine and discussing the philosophy of the movie.
