man i dont know about you guys but i cant believe how bad the camera is. pretty funny, the screen is beautiful and does these bright vibrant colors.. but the camera doesnt take advantage of it and shoots dull washed out pictures. honestly 2006 phone cameras looked better

Yeah. I was excited about a 5MP sensor with possibly bigger and better light sensing pixels, but it seems this isn't such a upgraded sensor. Or there was some trade off made for the speed and such on this new Android camera interface from an image processing standpoint.

"Quiet" is a relative term, I guess. Just a statistical note, though: we hit 58k at 10:30 this morning and now we're about to blow through 59k. That's about 11-12 hours. Not bad for a quiet day! :)

Gnex related, however, I think we're in for a pretty slow weekend of little to no news. So it'll be interesting how we stay on topic with speculation and relevant conversation while still hitting 60k.

Fear not, dear Gnexers, we'll manage to do it!

I thought about hiding this post but thought better of it...so here goes...

2 years ago I read this book: The Secret. Its message being: The energy put out by an individual is equal to that received. So if we all just believe in one date (12/9 for me since it is a fri and payday, then the universe will grant this, based on the energy received) we would get it when we want it. JM2C.

I'm all for the release, but if anything like it's been the last two weeks, we all know it could be the 8th, 12th, 15th, or maybe the 31st.

If we had a confirm from VZW, then let's pop open the champagne bottles and celebrate. But the last I've checked, the announcement hasn't been made.

If it's coming out on the 8th we will have pics before then of the boxes. I would imagine by Tuesday we will know for certain.

If you're waiting for Verizon to make it "official" you're going to be waiting until about 2pm the day before its released. Not really a big deal to have a countdown timer for the date that is outed the most. If you don't like it, don't look at it.

I see Gizmodo in the title of that flikr album. Major fruit fanbois.

Understand, It *does* sound like the current software is producing over exposed images, but that's likely correctable. Perhaps as simple as adjusting the white balance.

Or not, I don't claim to know. I do claim to not trust Gizmodo.

100% agree, do NOT trust Gizmodo in any way. You don't know how they jazzed with the settings in the camera app to create those pics. I wouldn't put it past them to rig the setup. Just read some of the stuff they post on that site.

The bottom line is we've seen good photos from other sources...it's clearly possible to get good pictures from the camera. Wait til you have it yourself to pass judgment.

Btw, Check out the ad/segment video on top of this site. I thought it was pretty baller.

Galaxy Nexus Review: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

THANK YOU,

Finally a properly exposed well composed visual on the GN. The Jam wasn't bad either.
I have twin Samsung 215TW 21.5" S-PVA displays and it looks great in 720p full screen.

so youre saying they shopped the pictures? and its a comparison between nexus, sgs2, rezound and 4s. and usually the sg or rezound looks the best, not the i

No, I am not claiming they chopped the pics, but who knows what setting, or software build they were using. and the Gnex software is a work in progress, unlike the other devices. There may still be enhancements for the Gnex camera software--the others are already out in the retail environment.

FWIW, I skimmed through the gallery really fast, and it seemed the Gnex had washed out, over exposed pics, and the iphone pics were often my favorite.

What's interesting is that the SGN's pictures do look bad in the comparison shots, but if you look at other images in the Flickr account taken by the SGN, some look much clearer (pot & coins are examples), not white & hazy like the comparison shots.

My expectations have definitely been lowered regarding the camera quality, but I have a feeling there'll be some great shots taken in between some blurry and washed out ones. At least it'll recover quickly enough to grab another shot.

My OG Droid misses every moment while trying to load. Even then, I click the button and it often freezes for 5-60 seconds before actually taking the picture. Beyond ridiculous. In my case, the SGN will be an improvement for sure.

on the verizon pre-order system the pictures follow different formats then the rest of their site. the normal sites pictures are png, the preorder/POS site are jpg
here are some examples
htc_droid_incredible2.jpg

droid_razr_main.jpg

So if and when a picture of the nexus shows up there we will know it's in the preorder system

best guess is https://scache.vzw.com/pos/iconic/images/phones/samsung_galaxy_nexus.jpg

Btw, on a side note- I work in the Computer Security field. Half of the "malware/internet virus" software on the market today is BS, its probably just some harmless cookie that your "malware program" doesn't play nice with. But as with anything on the internet, open at your own will.

That Sony phone looks pretty sweet though. :)

That link has a virus/Malware..... my system detected it as soon as I click on the link.:mad::mad:

Me too, bro. Even overclocked running CM7. My OG camera is soo bad that I don't even think of the device as having a camera anymore. It would be faster to make a sketch than snap a pic.

The Gnex cam will be a monumental improvement for me.

I know the GNex is the right phone for me, because even when I saw the NitroHD being revealed, I didn't care. When I saw the rumored Sony ICS phone, I didn't care. When every review I'm reading, be it an overall positive or negative review, claims that the only disappointment is the camera, I didn't care. Most of the shots I've seen from it look just fine for a smartphone, even better when there is 0 lag taking it (the shots from Gizmodo I don't count, because I don't trust them or CNET to be objective in their reviews). If I want really nice pictures, I'll take along my Sony DSC-T9, which for a point and shoot, takes AMAZING looking pictures with hardly any fuss.

Bottom line is, nothing is going to deter me from getting this phone on the 8th/9th. :)

Hey guys, haven't checked in for nearly 24 hours now :O
I heard some stores have already gotten stock?!?!?!
Well this is more than good news IMO :)
But I'm not so sure about pre-orders any time soon so I'm not gonna stay up...

Yeah - I said I was going to go to bed early tonight.....see how well that worked

I understood that warehouse orders were filled... not necessarily stores. I'd imagine that if/when stores have them it will leak very quickly.
