You can use it with the phone directly obviously, but the dock clearly has a port for audio. I imagine the pogo pins then can transfer the audio from the phone through the dock and into your ears via headphones/audio cable. Just my take, by no means an expert.

Again, if it's like the N1 those pogo pins just let it auto-set-up bluetooth, and charge, and then bluetooth is used for the audio transfer.

I work for a small regional carrier in central NE; Great Lakes. Our hub is in DEN and we're based out of CYS. You?

Today is our first severe Ground Icing Conditions of the year and go figure- our primary de-icer's pump went on the fritz, so its just about as good as peeing on the a/c hahaha. As much as it sucks to have to deal with cancelled flights for the rest of the day I would actually prefer it happen.

I work for UPS here in Buffalo. Today was my third day de-icing. Our trucks last year were a mess they broke everyday. I hope it doesn't happen again this year. Fed ex has it made. Their de-icing trucks have an enclosed buckets with seats and heat!

Yeah, I agree. My main reason for even wanting them is to legitimize these Best Buy leaks, although the item number in the screenshot should be enough for that.

Aside from that, it's just curiosity. It seems odd to block that out and not block the item number out.

Haha, I don't think we can do anything with them ;)

Actually if we had them, and wanted to really test verizon, a graphics company could put it into a upc program and run out the barcode on a sticker and plop that sticker on something at verizon and wait for them to scan it to see if it's in their system yet.

OT:
I figured out a way around these darn HIDE tags. All you have to do is get rid of your signature and then type a row of underscores in your post followed by whatever you want to say. I've seen several signatures that appear to be off topic, but they're sigs!

I am surprised to see a sports car in BB's avatar. With all the drooling she did over truck pics a couple day's ago, I expected Leia to be laid over the hood of a Dodge RAM...

The truck and jeep hoods weren't as conducive to Leia laying on them. Nor were they as easy to 'skin' with the ICS wallpaper. Believe me, I tried!

I wake up every morning and watch the video at Galaxy Nexus and then play with the 360 degree spin around model. After I get done crying, I come on here to speculate about the release date.

Hopefully next week I won't have to continue this sad cycle. Although I will miss this thread.

I wake up every morning and have my phone unlocked and ready for thread catch up before my eyes are open. I'm not sure what I'll do when this thing comes out. Will I actually have to get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off

Yes you did wow! Good for you and a good morning to ya ;)

Good morning!

I'm so jealous....the dogs had me up at 6:48 a.m.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that.

And welcome to KSToto!

I thought you were reading Lucado's Mocha w/ Max lol took me a minute gawh I'm slow in the A.M. !

If I drank 52oz of coffee I'd be too productive & I don't want my wife to get her hopes up :p

That's great hahaha. Specially on a weekend! And yes, Mocha Max is the name of a latte with extra espresso at a cheap convenience store here. Delicious haha.

Why is it that you have to DRAG the kids out of bed at 6:30 on school days, but on Saturdays they are raring to go at 6:15?

**Sorry, gotta figure out that hiding thing!**

Funny you say that. I'm 43 and I'm the same way as "the kids".....

[HIDE ] blah blah blah [/HIDE ] ---> blah is your post. Take away the spaces I put after the words HIDE.

Or look in the top right of your post as your posting and you'll see a capital "H". Type your post out, left click highlight what you want to hide, then click the "H". Voila :)

I know right! The trucks in DEN have enclosed buckets. We have a steel staircase on wheels... and overalls hahaha.

How is it when you take it off of the phone? Is there any residue left on the phone? I've seen some rubbery or gel cases do this and I hate it. I ordered a TPU just so I have something to put it in right away.

I thought I could get by leaving my Thunderbolt naked and all it took was one drop...after 4 months of babying it...to leave permanent scratches and nicks on it. No matter how careful I tried to be, it's no longer pristine.

IMO, the TPU case is the perfect combination of a hard case and a soft case. I got one with my DX when I got the phone, and it's the first time I've kept the same case the entire time I've had my phone. It's easy to take on and off (though I don't take it off unless I need to pull the battery out), it's got just enough grippiness to it, but it slides in and out of my pocket easily. It doesn't stick or collect fuzz and dust like the silicone cases. And it's one piece. Those hard cases are a pain because the tabs break so easily. This case and the screen protector has kept my DX in PERFECT condition for 15 months now.

ive got a question for you all and see what you think. Since the Gnex will not support OTG at the same time as MHL for some fun emulator gaming or surfing the web (usb keyboard and mouse, or DSLR card reader plugged in) on the big screen, would that vertical HDMI doc work for both? It has standard HDMI on the side and then the USB port in the rear.... whatcha think?

Good to know. If my truck has bluetooth, I can use that instead of a cable from the dock to the stereo, right? And how is the sound quality over bluetooth? I've done it before with my dX and it was terrible.

I use my phone a lot for music in the car and if the quality is bad, this dock isn't for me. I would need a dock where I can plug in 3.5 directly to the phone.

+1

I have strongly considered going naked with the GN, but am worried about drops/scratches. I am a bit neurotic about those type of things. I have had my Eris for 18 months or so, and it still looks like it just came out of the box, largely due to the case I purchased for it. I think I am going to go with the TPU case, looks good, maintains the slim profile, etc.

College Football:
Go Ducks! Also, I have never tried hide before... need to see if I can get it to work.

My Thunderbolt is evil. I had insurance on the phone since I got it. Then I decided to take the insurance off... Not even 5 days later I dropped it and cracked the screen.

I wish i had waited. I went to a Thunderbolt for about 4 months and thought i would enjoy Sense. But it was so slow an laggy. I ran CM7 for a long time on it and loved it but the data issues were a deal breaker. So i sold it and went back to a D1. I then bought my wife a RAZR and took her Inc and within 10 minutes it was running Petes GPA19...

Now it is runnin OMX ICS 4.0 :)

Do you also believe in geocentric theory rather than heliocentric theory? Sales people usually know nothing. Think about a car dealership. When you walk in and you ask them about a certain car you've been eyeing, and you know all the spec's by heart because you've been fed insider info, and then this idiotic sales person tells you something completely different, and the specs that were fed to you are right there, written on the car. Are you still going to view that salesperson as credible? Sales people are meant to push what they currently have on the floor, not provide you with information about future products. They want to sell you an item now, not later.

Perhaps you missed my follow up post, no, the sales guys did not push me toward another device in the least. In fact they said to check back with them in a couple of weeks on the progress of the GNex.

Of course here we also have the "Rumorcentric" theory that buys into every single rumor that shows an earlier release date. You pick your source or rumor and run with it. I've said it before, everything here is rumor whether it comes from sources that people 'know' on this thread or the 'rumors' spread by sales guy at VZW.

Thus far I haven't seen one single rumor from one single source that has any credibility whatsoever...and that's whether the sun or the earth is the center of the solar system. ;)

I was fine with your old name. However, I wouldn't complain if you changed that avatar... :D I kid, I kid!

Off topic baseball rant below.

If it weren't for the Yankees the rest of us in the AL East wouldn't have anyone to hate...er...kick our butts! Well, that's not true. There's also Boston. If the Rays could just get one or two consistent bats, there would be some real competition for the next 3 or 4 years. We just don't have the money to spend.

I share a season ticket to Rays games with a couple of friends and attend about 20 games a year. I can't stand all the negative B.S. that get's said about our area, stadium and attendance. Yes, there are problems with attendance but the real story behind it never gets told.

Do you remember learning in grade school that the United States is the "melting pot of the world" since we have such a diverse population of immigrants and blah, blah, blah. Well, Florida is the melting pot of the entire Northeast and Midwest of the United States! I myself grew up in northeast Ohio and was raised a Cleveland Indians fan (yes, they do exist). Do you have any idea how many New York and New England natives live in Tampa Bay? It is staggering. When you go to a Yankee or Red Sox game at Tropicana Field, it is almost a 50-50 split in fans. That's only counting the people that show up on a given night. Can you imagine the difference it would make if all those Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, Tigers, Orioles, White Sox, Cubs, Mets and Braves fans...who now call the Tampa Bay area their...home would change their CHILDHOOD ALLEGIANCES and support this 14-YEAR OLD franchise? I imagine it all the time.

I was living here in 1998 when the team was born, and I supported them from the start. It was hard at first. I used to wear a Rays jersey and Indians cap when Cleveland came to town. That lasted a few year until I got tired of seeing all fans of other visiting teams come to our stadium acting like it was theirs. Unfortunately very, very few in my same position have converted. This is a major reason we have such poor attendance. Also, as I said this team is only 14 years old. We still don't have ticket buying young adults, raised to be Rays fans. When you go to a Rays home game when they play and AL East opponent, you see the visiting team's fans...who now live here...all decked out in their team's gear. Including babies and school aged children. The're not even raising their kids to be Rays fans!

And then there are some who just won't go to a game in a dome. Or people from Tampa who don't want to drive in 1 hour bumper to bumper traffic over the bridges (we don't have public transit...just a few buses with limited routes). Oh yeah, and the economy. I called my mortgage company to see about getting a equity line of credit for some home improvement and when the agent saw the area I lived his mood changed. He stated our area is one of the worst effected by the recession. Nothing I didn't already know. Even the Buccaneer football games are all blacked out during home games because people just don't have the recreational money to spend.

Ugh! I had to vent sorry. There are Yankee fans everywhere. Our area isn't unique in that point. But we have a very, very large New York born and bred transplant population here. They are very loyal fans. The Rays are pretty much doomed if this doesn't turn around. It's sad really. They're a young, well-managed team with an incredible pitching staff. If we just had one or two sluggers we'd be dominant. I'm already looking forward to opening day.

Even more off topic baseball rant below.
I can see your argument for fans and such, but I still will never understand the money argument people have against the Yankees and other franchises. These people/companies that own these teams are loaded. They have hundreds of millions, sometimes billions of dollars to spend but they choose not to. Do you remember when Steinbrenner bought the Yankees from CBS? I don't, I am too young, haha but from reading, they were nothing at that point. He bought them for some ridiculously low amount of money and SPENT money to get players there. Yes, people don't like that (especially Rays fans) and they like when their talent is home grown. Again there is an argument against that. The Yankees have and have had for a while a top 5 farm system in the league. Jeter, Mo, Robbie, Montero, Gardner, Hughes, and soon to be the killer B's pitching all from their farm system, then they perform, and they get paid. Yes they buy some talent, but that is because it starts with the farm system getting paid, other people see the talent they have, and then they get paid good money to play here. The name and the Championships help, but other teams have SOOO much money to spend, but they are selfish old farts who don't want to spend their money. Steinbrenner was an ass, but he wasn't afraid to spend money out of his own pocket to make the Yankees successful again.

I know this is even more off topic than what you initially started ranting about, but I felt like ranting off your rant. Haha.

Just think about it... there's no way sales employees would be in the know about a release date. They may feel strong about their answers but they go through this all year long it's their job, all kinds of people come in throughout the year and ask about this and that phone, I'm sure they get sick of not having answers and they feel they have to tell their customers something so they look to Google.

It's common knowledge that Verizon generally doesn't share release dates on phones.

They always want to give you the latest possible date they have read so you don't come in pissed off because they told you it would release at XX date.

And that's as valid an explanation as anything else in this thread. ;)

Me too! I had no idea that there were so many OG Droid holdouts left, I thought for sure I was a very small minority.

There are quite a few Eris holdouts too, like me. Talk about desperate for an upgrade. Since being eligible for an upgrade 6 months, there has literally been no phone on any carrier I've been interested in until the Nexus came along.

I think it makes perfect sense that there are quite a few of us who are OG Droid holdouts. The OG was a landmark phone, with new-to-market features (turn by turn GPS, anyone? Remember how that was a huge surprise?), and the tech specs were impressive for the time.

What should have tantalized me before the Gnex? When the Dinc came out, my phone was still functioning very well. Honeymoon period, even. I also had to wait until the 2 year contract was up in order to get an upgrade (or 20 months or something).

The Bionic caught my eye, but no NFC + delays to market (and outright inferiority to the GS2, which I wanted), caused me to pass on that device.

Which brings us to th e present. Droid to Gnex. I bet there are a lot of us.

It's almost like you quoted a post from me. I am in the exact same boat. My DX is seriously like it has never been used if you were to take off the case and the screen protector.

I walked into Verizon the day of DX release, they tried to sell me their crappy/expensive case and screen protector, I showed them what I got off ebay for 5 dollars (a TPU case and a screen protector) they told me "That isn't as good as ours". Oh yeah? 16 months later, not a scratch on the phone, case and screen protector still working perfect.
