***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Off topic (Dexter):

Showtime president Andrew Nevis was interviewed about Dexter, and he says that the current plan was to have the show end after the 8th season (we are finishing the 6th season now). He says:

“Coming back for two more years gives us clarity about how and when it will go out,” Nevins said at Showtime’s annual holiday party in Los Angeles on Thursday night. “There’s things that are going to happen [this season] that will set up a very clear endgame that will take two seasons to tell. You have got to be there for the last two episodes.”

I think Deb is going to find out before this season is over!!

On topic:

I'd like my Nexus please. And two large fries.

Chief's super excited and trying to make it seem like a very short wait (such as a kid waiting for xmas) :D

And you're NOT excited? Christmas comes December 8th for me! December 25th will be for the wife & kids :)

And MY day-counting bases off a ZERO HOUR of 9AM CST. That's when my store opens and Nexus is available. SO as of this moment we have 4 days and 45 minutes to wait.

After seeing the pic of Steven in near tears over handling the Nexus, my excitement is really ramping up!

I really hope Deb finds out. Part of me has always wanted Deb to die. haha. Glad this season she was told that she is a whiny Beeootch and uses Dexter for his skills and solving all the cases.
On topic.
I also would like my nexus. and a small diet coke. :p

There was a link to an article on this forum a week or so ago that said Verizon would stop grandfathering unlimited data in March, 2012. I don't know what that means, so I apologize if I assumed the worst.

Thank you for your help with this!

Some seem to believe Verizon may stop letting us carry forward our grandfathered unlimited plans the next time we upgrade our phones, after March 2012. This would be about 2 years after they stopped offering the unlimited data plans, and they may have no obligation to let them continue after all those contracts expire. You could probably avoid getting a new phone on discount on that line of your plan, and still keep your unlimited data plan. Hopefully they would still let you "change" 4G phones on a grandfathered unlimited data plan if you bought your own phone, but who knows at this point. One more thing that Verizon will likely keep silent on until the last minute.

We are hoping they just let our unlimited 4G data plans continue on forever.

That's a GOOD question! I'm getting a Samsung SmartTV in house tomorrow. I'll have to try it. What are you trying to sync? Share pics or videos wirelessly?

Its always nice to ask a good question 60,000 posts in! haha

I am looking to sync anything I can wirelessly. If its only pics and video, than I'm ok with that. But if there is a way to do everything in real time............I'm sorry......my heart skipped a beat there.

Which TV are you getting??

Hey, a fellow Paneristi! I've been collecting them since 1999, back when prices were a bit more reasonable. If you ever make it out to Beverly Hills, there is the official Panerai Boutique there. Chad, the manager, is a great guy, and they show you any pieces they have, including some very limited editions.

Now some watch porn of the my pannies:

Very nice! Some of my personal favorites too...

When did this Hide Poll get posted in the OP?! Really, I can deal with all the OT hiding. Its fine. Perhaps some would complain less if we would kindly use the 'title' or a quick un-hidden preface to let folks know what lurks beneath. Every ones happy- OT is hidden from those who don't care and skimmers know whats going on with out getting overwhelmed.

Oh, and good morning everyone! Its a friggin' freezing morning here. Anyone else get their grubby hands on the SGN yet? More insight from casual (loose term for this group of us. I know ;)) users would be great to see.

OT poll:

This forum survived for 50,000 posts with one way of posting and reading OT stuff; I just don't get the point of instituting a whole new way of doing it 4 or 5 days before it shuts down.

I guess you can tell how I voted. :p

Does anyone think the default homescreen setting for app icons being 4*4 on such a huge screen is weird? I mean, that's the same as my sister's HTC CHACHA/STATUS (480 x 320 pixels, 2.6 inch screen). I know you can use a launcher to change it, but stock is just too awesome.

Any solutions?

You could organize your apps into folders, and theoretically, have as many as you want on the homescreen.

EDIT: I'm not sure if there is a limit to how many apps you can have in one folder

I would say no to that. Keeping in mind this is suppose to be a (ugh I hate saying this) "pure" Android/Google experience (aside from Verizon apps). Take for example DLNA enabled televisions. I could stream content to me television on Motoblur but that software does not come prepacked with a "pure" android build.

If the Nexus doesn't have a DLNA server built in, install iMediaShare from the Market.

Works great.
