ahh so your music mooch! I know your kind..lol just messin..good for you. I dont have any friends that buy physical CD's so I dont have this option :(

It works because I am not a huge music guy, and I have friends that are. So they get stuff and I can pick and choose the stuff I want. I have over 12000 songs in my iTunes, and didn't pay for a single one. Lucky me

iTunes is, without a doubt, the worst application ever written this side of the Milky Way galaxy. It does, in no way, shape, or form, resemble anything that I would ever want to open again. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy in the known universe the displeasure of having to use iTunes for anything. iTunes has zero redeeming qualities and if there was a way to physically punch a computer application I would gladly empty my bank account for a punch to face of the iTunes application. I would then gladly give a kidney, extra appendages, and even half of my brain to punch iTunes in the gut one more time. After that I would sell all of my worldly possessions and live in a cardboard box down by the nearest river if I could have one more punch to the lousy, horribly written, bloated, overbearing, piece of junk face of iTunes. I would then send an email to the entire universe asking them to all stand in line to pummel the ever living crap out of iTunes until the only thing left is a distant memory of the worst application to ever be created. Somebody with all of the knowledge in the known universe could not have written a worse application if given a billion lifetimes to try.

Regardless of how bad you view, most people I see everyday enjoy it very much. Chill down on the haterade man, it's just a program. No one is forcing you to use it :p

I agree with you for the most part. I pay for the majority of my music and only use the music junk app for a quick download of a song or two that I find using Shazam. I don't use iTunes though, because I have hated every incarnation of the program I have ever seen or used. The main problem I always had with it was DRM. I have always felt that if I pay for something and feel like sharing it with a friend or two (not 20 million) then it is my right to do so. I remember making copies of tapes when I was kid and giving them to friends. I never had a guy in a suit show up at my door and try to take me to court for it.

It has been possible to share music even when they had DRM. For as long as i can remember i have been making CDs off of my itunes library so i could play it in my car. One could just give the CD to a friend.

What am I missing? Wouldn't Apple make a bundle by selling an iTUnes app? I would gladly pay a few bucks for the app as I sure every non-iphone user would. I mean I got it for my PC, so that horse is already out of the barn. 95% of my music is AAC protected and I can't play it anywhere except my ipod. Is there hope out there?

Thanks,
Roger

I think I would just like the ability to sync with iTunes like the iPod does so well. Now I wish an app did that

You are right on one thing, nobody could ever force me to use iTunes. That is my opinion on iTunes. Nobody has to agree with me, but I'm certainly entitled to my opinion of the software. If you use it and like it, that is fantastic. You should always use whatever software you are comfortable with.

Screw DoubleTwist. For automatic syncing with iTunes you need Salling MediaSync. As soon as I mount the disc to my mac, it automatically syncs the "Eris" playlist on iTunes and copies the last five photo albums as well.

I have three iPods and a MacBook Pro, so I've got a pretty decent Apple ecosystem going on here. If ATT was in Montana, I'd probably have an iPhone, too. Almost definitely. However, I probably would not switch to iPhone now, if I had the opportunity.

But as a music player, the iPod is unbeatable. Yes, I'm pretty sure my 160GB classic and my oldschool 40GB clickwheel both are able to play all songs in a given genre and shuffle them. The 160GB Classic is probably the most perfect piece of technology I've ever owned. I take it for granted because it works so well and I've never even had a minor annoyance.

The Android music player kinda sucks. It's prone to skipping badly between songs and all kinds of erratic behavior like random fast forwarding. However, I do REALLY love how my album art becomes the lock screen background while I'm playing an mp3. That's a really classy touch in Sense that nobody seems to mention very much.

I was talking about the iPhone and the iPod Touch. I know the regular ipods ca do it. The mp3 player on the iPhone and iPod Touch however are seriously lacking in many features. We have done a few tests in my office with Droids and iPhones and my Eris always wins when it comes to features. Style points always go to the iPhone though, with the exception of the widget and lock screen. I have no idea how a device that was based on its multimedia ancestry could suck as bad as it does for music playback features.

See, now I have heard others say bad things about the player on the Eris. I just don't see it. Mine works perfectly. I am also in love with the whole media player lock screen. It is one of the reasons I won't use lockbot or lock 2.0 even though I really like them. I wish Pandora could function with the lock screen too.

I am in total agreement with you on the Eris music player. I love the Eris music player and love the lock screen functionality of it. I was going to try out a different lock screen app but now that you say the music player doesn't function on those lock screens it's a deal breaker for me.

For the record, I do own a Touch and I do love it, I just can't stand iTunes. Apple also knows how I feel about iTunes. I believe they told me they would note my account.

I prefer the stock one, but others rave about Tunewiki.

The stock music player didn't see most of the music that I put on my Eris (using DoubleTwist); I'm now using MixZing Lite and loving it. :D (I should note that I listen to music on the subway, and immediately plug my Eris in when I get to work, otherwise the battery dies before I get home.)

Totally agree, I get that rant about once every other shift, so it's cool no worries bro :).

i havent finished reading this thread but i use itunes because i have a mac. i know this sounds stupid, but i love this computer more than almost anything.
When it comes to laptops and pure mp3 players, Apple damn near perfected the form. Latest source of my technogeek enthusiasm: I just learned that the audio port on my MBP supports toslink digital audio! I bought a new speaker set and have been sitting at my desk bathing in the beautiful sounds!

Another plug for Salling media sync: It automatically transfers your iTunes tags to your Android player. All of them. I did have a problem where a few Tom Waits albums were filed under "Various Artists," but a short investigation showed that somehow the "Part of a compilation" box was checked in their mp3 tags.
