I just wanted to let anyone who lives near me know that I called 5 corporate stores in my area (Metro Detroit, MI) and no one knew anything or had a sign up sheet available. Sterling Heights, Clinton Township, Rochester and two in Troy.

Oh well....

Same here, called one in Farmington Hills and one in Troy, nothing

You know what my biggest fear is. Assuming it launches this Friday (I'm VERY skeptical), what if I CAN'T GET ONE!!! What if, when I show up, they're sold out?? I really they would have done a pre-order so it could just show up at my door on Friday.

Sounds like you have an internal battle to solve. As skeptical as you are about the release, does that outweigh your skepticism for even getting one in case of low stock? :p

What a dilemma for those having so much skepticism. Life is easier when one is more optimistic imo. Roll with the punches ;)

News update, south Louisiana. Just went into a Verizon Retail(Non Corporate store). District manager happened to be in store and was the one who helped me. He says one store in their district(15 stores) does the ordering for phones and sends them out to the individual store. He would check to see if they were able to order them yet, and have the store manager give me a call in the next few days. After that, we talk for about 5-10 minutes and build up a good rapport.

20 minutes after I leave he calls me and says he checked with main office, the phones have been ordered and he will have them to sell on the 9th. "This Friday?" I ask. Yep Friday the 9th. He says it is a tough phone to get. They were only allowed to order 40 total. For all 15 stores. I.E. 2.66 per store. He is holding one for me and making sure I am the first one to get it. :)

FWIW:

I called two corporate stores in the Memphis area yesterday afternoon. For both, I explained that I was a long time customer and was up for an upgrade. I had heard about the Galaxy Nexus and wanted to know when it was going to be available. I got 2 different answers. The 1st store I was quickly told, "No, I don't know when it will be available." The 2nd store, after about a 5 minute wait on hold, the lady came back and stated, "I'm showing that it will be available on the 8th."

8th or 9th, either would be good. I'm on vacation Friday, so I'll have plenty of time to play.

Can anybody in northern jersey get any info from teh Secaucus store? i've called numerous times different voices and all are clueless.I think I mite storm in there at about 4:30pm and ask for manager for details or something.

the stores around here are always clueless. i've never dealt with the secaucus store but newport mall and hoboken stores never know anything. the reps at hoboken are very nice though and will give you a call when they hear something. i've dealt with them with the xoom and thunderbolt releases.

People, we are not being trolled.

To be trolled THIS far into the game would mean that Phandroid, Android Central, RootzWiki, Engadget, Droid Life, and britishturbo will all soon become non-trustworthy Android sites/sources. That is NOT going to happen. Each site is saying they have their own inside sources, meaning at this point, one site isn't just copying the info from all the others.

IF, and that's a HUGE IF, the phone isn't out Friday, it means that Verizon has once again had second thoughts and delayed it for some reason. But I don't think that is going to happen this late in the game. Too many things have factored in to push the launch back yet again. Stores have stock or will have stock by end of day. Best Buy now has stock coming in. Promo materials are out. Training for indirect retailers is happening. Verizon mentioned the phone in a press release yesterday, it is the first time they've mentioned it since October. It's happening...

But IF for some reason it doesn't happen, please don't try and say ALL of these people, as well as the forum members who were able to get corporate store confirmation, were just trolling. It makes no sense.

Looking at my Verizon acct. I have $30 loyalty toward a new phone. It seems everyone here has $50. Did I fail to negotiate something obvious with them!??

Mine is $30 as well, but if you go to the upgrade section online, it discounts $50 from the Razr and Rezound making them $249. I imagine it will do the same for the GN.
And no, the $30 is not based on late payments like someone else mentioned. It is determined by the time of last renewal and the plan contract. In my case it is the primary line of a family plan.

yeah seriously lol how come a reseller is telling me they have inventory and to come check it out tomorrow and verizon "hasnt been told anything"

It is strange, my friend who works for a reseller who _never_ gets anything on the day it comes out (Essentially they aren't one of the super premium resellers) called me this morning and said he ordered them this morning they showed as "in stock" and "available" to order.

Apparently more are arriving in stores.

I don't think this is the Verizon LTE version, why would it say "No Sim Card"?

Sooooo, I know it's getting tiring, but I have nothing else to do on this rainy afternoon so I decided to call the 3 Verizon stores in DC politely inquiring about the Nexus.
1st - They know about it, said no idea on the launch, but to call back tomorrow.
2nd - Put me on hold for a WHILE. Said they don't know about launch.
3rd - Asked a fellow employee. Don't know about the launch. Said within the week or two. Did also say they had a "working model" in the store.

Anyway, I'm really hoping it's a Thurs launch since I'm off work in the morning. Friday would be a no go and would have to wait until Saturday. All three stores said they can't hold a phone but they should "have plenty in stock". Either way, I'm still pysched for the weekend! :D

Edit: And two other bits. I stopped in my local BB and casually asked the Mobil dpt. about the Nexus. She had no idea what the phone was. (no news there, it's not the best staffed store in the area)
Also, one of the store reps did believe there will be a pre-launch but, again, had no details.
