Hey guys and gals I know this has been said before but lets all just call down for a bit. We went from Probably end of this week or next week to the 9th to delayed in less than 48 hours. Lets take a step back, do a little yoga and calm down. Then go riot at Verizon. Common lets be rational about this, we will get our phones very soon.

PS we need a thread dedicated to the NFC chip and all the fun we can have with it.

I implore everyone too love one another in my absence. I'll be back in an hour and a half.

NYC Store update

Visited a bunch of NYC stores, from Grand Central and working my way downtown. Here's what I've found.

Madison Ave store
Claims they have no phones or accessories. Least helpful and claims they don't know the launch date.

34th St store
Very helpful. Sent someone in back to bring out every accessory they have received. Still under the impression the launch is Friday.

5th Ave store
Claims the launch is canceled as of this morning. Says they have nothing in. Turns out this is a lie (see next)

Union Sq store
Happy to bring out all accessories to show me. Not too many here but they said that 5th Ave store (above) have more including the extended battery. Said launch date was supposed to be the 9th. Now just coming soon.

More stores to visit. More later.

I'm not sure I get this... if 4g is an issue countrywide, fix the problem and keep the phone ready to go out on time. I cannot imagine pushing back a phone because 4g coverage issues.

Strangest thing.

What everyone knows is that an official release date has been withdrawn. The 4G problem is a big deal and must be fixed before releasing a phone of this caliber. I think that Verizon is expecting to sell this one very well. What will it be like if you go in on the 9th and you can't activate your GN due to 4G connectivity issues? Perhaps they WILL get it fixed and the 9th can be back on. I think it's the right thing to do to "stop the presses" when you have an outage and you're not sure why.

Believe what you want, but there was enough backing of 12/9 for MANY stores to tell customers that they could come in on the 9th to get it. Are you suggesting Verizon employees all decided to feed their customers with BS about the 9th based on internet rumors and not actual inside information from their systems about the 9th?

All Im saying is what I was told, by someone who kinda knows something. That is all I am going to say. As for the 9th, why it was rumored to come out, and is now delayed I do not know.

But, I am a facts kind of guy. So unless I have proof in my hands, or some PR statement (or even an email from VZW) I do not buy it.

AHHH more speculation alert

Called again to my local store. She said she wasn't sure on the exact launch date(as we already know) but then i was put on hold, she came back and said that in most cases when they continue to have an extended wait on when exactly it will launch then it usually launches on a ONLINE ONLY sale.

Nom nom nom smh.....this takes me way back to the original rumors of a web only launch from months back.

So one guys says 'web only' and another insists that some stores have them in stock.

I rest my case...whatever that case was. Aint the internet a fun place?

i see 2 scenarios.

1. VZW didn't like all the leaks of the 9th, planning to announce on thursday (my hunch) and decided to throw the public off.

^screwed up. i hate verizon

2. VZW is SO dumb that they let another major issue somehow get through testing. In which case the new date would probably not be the 12th or 15h. well maybe the 15th

^screwed up, i hate verizon

in conclusion
Verizon is screwed up and we should hate it.

This is my last vzw phone. i guarantee that

Why have stock in stores if you're going to have online only?

Heres some info I got from a CSR from a local store... I know its just a CSR but it makes some sense....

I stopped by my store and the guy was kinda cool. He said that last night when he left it said the 9th on that online sheet, but he said today it says that the meeting for tomorrow is still on, and his manager stated that the LTE issue is a concern, but he also said that his manager thinks that Verizon did it to announce it themselves tomorrow morning and not have leaks going out. He said he still expects it to launch friday, but said it can change tomorrow. He thinks that because everyone has gotten word, (costco, radioshack, bestbuy...) it almost has to happen friday. But he 'couldnt' let me see the demo and wouldnt confirm if they had stock

This actually makes the most sense to me (other than a real delay). The easiest way for corporate to squash all the leaked rumors going out is to send out something saying that the 9th is wrong. NOT sending out saying not to say anything because, as we have seen, people do anyway. If they are telling the stores that the 9th is wrong then that will be repeated out to the customers. Verizon can then come back tomorrow with their PR saying it is actually coming out the 9th and everyone will be happy again. A little puppies and rainbows, I admit, but it's the most logical positive theory so far.

The key phrase is "inside information." The date was real, but it was a planned target date and was not supposed to be shared with customers. That's why we heard so many "nod-nod-wink-wink" stories about CSRs who hinted around Friday without coming out and saying it. None of them were supposed to share it, because it was still subject to change.

People in here have been asking for weeks, "Why can't Verizon just tell us a date?" This is why.

Makese sense. verizon is like the teenage girl who always needs to be in the spotlight and will do whatever it takes for it to stay that way.
