on a side note: those who were saying "the gnex wont be able to hold ICS over the razr or rezounds heads for long and will not be the best phone at that point", just got cracked in the head. motorola said today expect it to be 4-6 months before they begin updating their current devices to ics. so those that bought an r-phone hoping it would be updated in jan or feb might be out of look longer than they thought

Unless that's how long Motorola thinks it will take for the bugs in ICS to be ironed out.

BTW, do you have a link to that article? Either way, it says nothing about the Rezound.

Edit: Googling this up, I came up with this article today...nothing about 6 months:

I've been through launches before.

Here is what I Skyped to Steven exactly 25 hours and 25 minutes ago -

That was total seat of the pants, just going by launches I've seen.

Here's my next prediction - Verizon customers will have phones in hand by Monday.

If Friday doesn't release, there will be an outcry from retailers forcing Saturday sales - no one wants to sit on inventory over a shopping weekend during December.

No insider info - just me having watched releases and having seen patterns.

The salt is over by the stove. ;) :)

I hope you're right Early

This is absolutely false. I was specifically told, by a call and email, that activation status had no bearing on the return policy. As long as it was purchased in the time frame it could be returned or exchanged until Jan 15th with the $35 restocking fee. She's blowing smoke up your ... to make you feel like she's doing you a favor.

I agree, I have talk to numerous CSR over this, they all said the phone can be activated and still returned by 1/15. I made sure they put a note on my account stating what they told me in case I "rented" a phone.

I'm still hopeful for a launch by Monday. We've got 2 plausible theories that would have a positive spin.

First, Verizon changes the info to "coming soon" just to squash rumors - Entirely possible. If you've gotten to the point where you can see that your gag order has done nothing to plug leaks, with the information even hitting local news in some areas, your best bet to put an end to it is some misdirection. With Han's sister confirming the stock being out there, it

I knew they wouldn't be getting it that early. There are so many Verizon phones that haven't gotten major updates until almost a year passes by. It's ridiculous.

heres the link to the article... and you are correct, i had a brain lapse and didnt even think about the rezound not being a moto product, FAIL

edit: the 4-6 months comes from bullet 3 in that article. 2 months of preparation and 1-3 months of carrier testing

not to add fuel to the fire here but honestly if i was VZW i'd say ok screw it lets just wait and Launch it on 1/1/2012. 2012 is suppose to be a big year for Google and what better way to kick it off than to launch their new mobile OS on day 1.

something to think about so you don't possibly go crazy every 3 days when its not launching.

I mean, yeah the Rezound isn't Motorola, but HTC has the same amount of quality checks and steps and testing necessary to roll out ICS for their phones, I'm sure.

Not sure this would pan out especially if TP is to get ICS before end of the year...

yeah, except for the fact that google has already launched their new OS, back in mid november when they released the code, then a couple of days later when their new flagship phone was released in the UK

yeah that's why i can't say that... but i am convinced this is my last VZW phone.

Here's the thing. Why the more primitive portions of our minds get all upset and angry about the delay of this phone, harumph, harumph, the more developed portions of our minds and subconscious have this conversation:

"Dude, relax, it's just a phone. Verizon still has the best network and coverage, in this case the best phone and in the grand scheme of things, this whole thing isn't very important."

That is why people won't change carriers and we'll all be ok even if we have to wait a bit longer. Today I had to tell one of my favorite patients he has cancer. I don't really think the Nexus can compare to that.

Except they said later this year.... You think people are upset now, don't release it until next year and see people's reactions. Plus it isn't a new mobile os it would be months old by then.....
