***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Here is what's going on at Verizon, yesterday they sent out updated Equipment guide with a date and a price for the Nexus, I was informed from my son who works tech support that employees are not supposed to give any details or even talk about a device unless it shows in the equipment guide with both a release date and price...the two things included in yesterdays release. That brought on an onslaught of Verizon Retail employees calling potential customers making appointments, the press is talking this release date of Dec. 9th up and you can feel the excitement in the air.

Last night Verizon executives get wind of what was happening with their Retail employees and how the media had gotten wind of the Dec. 9th launch date and was basically calling it official....remember Verizon wants this to go as a soft launch and this thing blew up in their face, so how do you stop the media...their employees and how do they make more friends? They change the equipment guide and remove the release date thus closing the door on the employees being able to talk about the device...it puts out the "Coming soon" and the media jumps on that killing two birds with one stone!

As my son said, Verizon jumped the gun and included to much information on the original equipment guide and once they realized the employees were allowed to act and talk as they did because of the information provided by there own executives they had no choice but remove the release date.

My son did see the new equipment guide today and it does say "Coming Soon" but he believes that it will still be released on Friday Dec. 9th...remember Verizon has already shipped the product to retail stores and reseller stores so it is happening and soon so everyone just chill!

Regarding all the "stay positive" stuff-- I am quite the optimist, but even I don't bother with all these "maybe they're just this" or "maybe they're just that" hopes. After each delay, when has this wishful thinking actually been true? Obviously never, since it's still not released yet.

Due to the rollercoaster nature of hearing rumor after leak after rumor, most of us don't even experience the 5 stages of grief when facing the bad news! Those that don't go straight to acceptance (and should) are in a continuous loop of denial and anger. If it somehow does come out this Friday, then I will happily eat my words.

That is what a few(including myself) have been thinking about with them not wanting all this press taking away from their droid line of phones currently out and sell as many of those as they can with very few knowing about the nexus even launched.

Sorry not buying it, it's not like the major news outlets reported anything about the phone. Even the wall street journal just talked about the price and said it would be released this month. I seriously doubt Verizon made any decisions based on what blog sites, forums, so-called sources on twitter have been saying.

Here's the thing. Why the more primitive portions of our minds get all upset and angry about the delay of this phone, harumph, harumph, the more developed portions of our minds and subconscious have this conversation:

"Dude, relax, it's just a phone. Verizon still has the best network and coverage, in this case the best phone and in the grand scheme of things, this whole thing isn't very important."

That is why people won't change carriers and we'll all be ok even if we have to wait a bit longer. Today I had to tell one of my favorite patients he has cancer. I don't really think the Nexus can compare to that.

nah dude i live in SE michigan, all carriers work fine here minus at&t.
i've had my mind set on leaving vzw anyways, then the nexus thing happened and i wantz NOW cause i have an OG droid. I dunno if this makes the vzw exclusivity window smaller, if it does i might wait for it to land elsewhere

That's not what caught their eye...it was their Retail employees actions yesterday calling potential customers and scheduling to come get their new Nexus phones that they had to squash.

The change in release date by policy forced their employees to stop!
