***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I don't understand this argument. It sounds like you're saying that Verizon wanted to launch this as quietly as possible so that they wouldn't sell too many phones. Why wouldn't they want to sell more phones? Even if they want to sell more RAZR's or something, they're not going to cripple an "exclusive" phone. To sell something but to try and minimize your sales of it just doesn't sound like a plausible course of action, even for Verizon.

My bet is they were all set to sell the device and then the 4G network issues popped up and they decided to put the brakes on launching a new 4G device until the network issues are resolved. Imagine the bad PR you would get if you launched a top tier device on a broken network. I predict they will get this resolved by the end of the week and we will see an official PR from Verizon announcing a next-day launch. They already have the units and accessories, they just need the green-light from the network.

Per Hans sis 28k phones in the midwest. That is an awful small #. Hyping up a phone too much and creating a customer base that you can't fulfill their expectations is worse then missing a launch date announcement. Shhhhh get it out let our geeks have them and when we get more we will advertise like mad! Plus, think of all the great press we get from the geeks. $$$

Hate to be the confirmer of bad news, but I just got on the horn to My Rep, asking about this whole Nexus thing.

S(he) told me that the phones are IN THE STORE. The accessories are IN THE STORE. But the Verizon computer system has delayed release of Nexus with NO RELEASE DATE SET.

It could be next week, it could be next year. :( :( :(

The devices are cluttering up back rooms at stores all over America, so they will either have to put them on the shelves to make room for other incoming devices or SHIP THEM BACK

Anyway, it sucks out loud.

I promise this: I will be the bearer of GOOD NEWS at 8 PM EST tonight. Trust me. Be here.

Chief, did the guy actually say it was delayed, or that the date simple ly wasn't there any more?

And please don't tease like that. We are on edge. We get tortured with Steven's 10 minute delays, now you're asking us to wait 6 hours?

At least tell us what it's about.

On the contrary, the piece of my brain that likes conspiracies is telling me that Verizon could have bought the "exclusivity" agreement NOT to sell the Nexus, but to specifically remove the Nexus from the market entirely. The longer Verizon drags their feet, the more outdated the Nexus will become and thus, people will buy other phones instead allowing Verizon to live happily ever after in bloat world.

If you make us wait and your "good news" has nothing to do with a concrete release date of sometime next week, then you may as well not tell us. We don't want any more rumored dates or anything like that.

I've tried to keep an optimistic tone, but I'm going to agree with truelove79. Don't tease us, this almost sounds like a setup for a Rickroll.

This is why some are convinced the best approach to this is to go with a sound piece of hardware that's already out and wait for ICS to come to the phone. By that time many of the bugs that are obviously there will be ironed out.

Hard to argue with the logic.

It's not really logic, it's just people doing what they feel is best for them. Other than the first OG Droid I had, motorola phones have given me nothing but issues.. and I can't stand Blur. Plus, the RAZR appears to have a few issues so not sure about it being a 'sound piece of hardware'. The Rezound might be a consolation prize for some, but not for me personally.

Also, to borrow a page from your book, until we learn what the bugs are (if any), can't really call them 'obvious' other than the sound issue the GSM ones had (which is not an issue with the LTE as it is related to the radio). At this point, the reasons behind the delays are nothing more than hearsay, speculation and rumor.

The logical thing to do is to get the phone you want for the reasons you want it. If it means waiting, then we wait. Unless something new comes down the pipe that I like better than the GNex, then I'll wait for it to be released. Of course, since I have to wait anyhow due to a busted water line at my house, I'm a little less frustrated than some.

So Droid-life is reporting a significant outage throught the country right now... I for one do not have LTE right now.

I have a Bionic in the Quad Cities (IL/IA border) and do not have LTE right now either... I'm in an area with good signal too. Not sure if this has anything to do with the Nexus delay, or if Verizon is just having a very bad day of coincidences?

So, I logged on and read the OP...but a little confused. Is the general consensus now that the Nexus is not being released Friday?

Correct. Delayed with no release date set. :(

EDIT: 68,000 posts! Holy Smokes!
Who would have thunk we'd be this far along???

I can tell you my son looked at the Equipment guide a few hours ago...it changed from Dec. 9th to "Coming Soon"

That is what stopped their employees from being able to talk about the phone at all...its a verizon policy.
