***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Maybe you can take that money and go to the University of Utah.
The University of Utah is The Startup King

It was just an anecdotal point that its foolish to believe anyone could or would sell this phone without the approval of VZW. Its VZW's phone at the moment. They own them. So when your boss asks you to do/not do something do you respond by saying "eh, nah don't think so. I went to MIT"

Funny, great post. Being sarcasmic is one of my strong suits (though I was tempted for levity to type "suites")............

Blasphemy! Drew Olanoff must be a Nazi....Insert Godwin's Law here.

Just to throw in my own CS call:

Been scoping around the area to figure out what store I want to buy from and figured I'd call one or two to see if they had any information (Yes, I understand they know no more than I do).

The Cellular Connection nearby stated that they had been sending out emails today seeing if they would have them or not on Friday, and instantly recognized the phone as soon as I asked about it.

Obviously, it doesn't mean a single thing, I just like to make myself feel better now that I've talked to someone who knows what the Galaxy Nexus is.

After holding the phone last night I thought I would be able to hang on til Friday. Now with the delay would it look strange if I went back and asked to play with it again? I gotta get my fix somehow.

I called a verizon store here just to hear with my own ears what they had to say. I couldn't help but laugh at the lady and ask to speak with anyone else in the store after I got a response of "Galaxy Nexus? Verizon has canceled the release of that phone." - yeah but do you have any idea when the new date will be? - "It won't be coming out on Verizon. They canceled it"

As soon as the 9th date changed to "coming soon" they knew it was delayed. That was yesterday long before the 4G started having issues.

Actually, nobody ever said it wasn't the 9th.

They changed it to "coming soon" the 9th is soon no? It just gave them the opportunity/option to delay it from the 9th. It doesn't mean they did.

Did I miss something from Verizon that said it will not be the 9th?

Or is that just an assumption?

I had a 3g outage yesterday afternoon on my DROIDX, and after trying different things my service only came back after restarting my phone. Those of you who lost network completely, try battery pull or restart. Seems like verizon is changing some major stuff over in the system, personally I believe all these network problems are intentional for some reason. No issues today with 3g in Ctown

I didn't think of it quite like that, but I'm not wired to think that optimistically.

I just called MY Radio Shack [wink] and they said it's on for Friday, come on in. I asked if they were sure, citing this launch chaos and the guy said he's aware of it, but they have not been told to stand down.

This is either good news or they have not gotten the memo yet. See what happens when you don't put the new cover sheet on the TPS report? My hopes get all up and stuff.

I think third party retailers are going to sell it unless verizon specifically comes in and says you cannot sell which most likely won't happen. Will be interesting to see if that happens how verizon will handle it.

Verizon wouldn't do that. They'd have lynch mobs on their doorsteps (not to mention a crap load of useless product.) In 2 years when its time for me to renew again, I hope I decide on a phone Verizon actually WANTS to sell.

There was a guy who said he copied and pasted the email he got, which specifically said NOT the 9th. I think it was from a retailer, but in reality I'm lost, and I think Verizon may be lost too.

Agree everyone took it as coming soon means no way no how happening the 9th. I still think that if verizon gets the lte fixed they are not going to have any excuse not to launch it. I guess we will see in a few days.

I just stepped outside to get a quick nicotine fix in. Ya know how it gets when you stare at this thread for too long on days like today and can physically feel yourself sliding into more of a sad state.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw my neighbors son (12-13 years old) laying face down prone in the mud/snow between his shed and the line of bushes separating our back yards. After casually observing him for a few minutes I could tell he was playing his own game of hide and seek with me hahaha. So, when I could tell he wasn't looking at me I grabbed a nice handful of snow and balled it up. I waited for him to look away once again and lobbed the snowball at him igniting a short but mutually beneficial snowball fight. It took me back for a moment to being a young boy again; when these petty problems we're debating about here meant absolutely nothing, and laying face down in the mud on a cold December day was completely normal, wildly entertaining.

So, if any of you really are that upset and feel disheartened about this whole situation, remember that its not the end of the world and that kids all over the place are enjoying themselves today and couldn't care less about their parents data connection. We have perfect snowball/fort conditions here in NE if anyone cares to challenge my territory ;)

This is what I was trying to say earlier. If stores have the phone and are ready to sell, they'll sell when they were told they can sell. Unless Verizon specifically tells each store they can't sell on the 9th, it will be sold on the 9th.

I must say, that would be a rather odd launch; some stores launching it unofficially :D

I think third party retailers are going to sell it unless verizon specifically comes in and says you cannot sell which most likely won't happen. Will be interesting to see if that happens how verizon will handle it.
