Got a thunderbolt and lost 3g about an hour or two ago, according to gottabemobile a lot of 4g devices are without a 4g or 3g network right now around the country, I'm in missouri.

I think it's afflicting data on 4G phones only. My charge has been without data all day, 3G or 4G. If you're 3G only, I think you're fine. Sounds like it might be related to SIM card issues. 3G phones authenticate on the CDMA network with good ol' hardware MEID, but 4G phones authenticate with the SIM for both LTE and CDMA. That may be where the issue lies such that my wife's 3G phone is fine on 3G but I can't even get 3G on my 4G phone.
As of 30 minutes ago, I finally acquired and was holding onto 3G pretty well, but realized I had switched to CDMA only mode earlier today trying to get my phone working. When I toggled back to LTE/CDMA, I'm without data again. Hopefully they work it all out by morning.

It looks like it is just the LTE network that is down, this would affect most 4G user's 3G since if you are using a 4G phone and don't have it set on CDMA only the phone will automatically try to connect to the eHRPD which is 3G that VZW LTE phones use by default. So switching to CDMA only may help you if you still can't get a data signal, of course CDMA is slower than eHRPD normally but works better than nothing.

Since the Xoom had a 3g radio in it first, I was a bit suprised to be left with nothing. My husband was joking that they got hacked by AT&T. Lol.
