***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I was told last night by a Verizon Store manager that they are under strict orders to not show any demo units. He even told me they had 1 in the back, and that something regarding a demo unit being shown off was reason for the delay.....he was telling me everything straight up, so not sure what reason he'd have to lie.

Too bad if showing off the demo was what resulted in the delay.

My over-two-year-old Droid 1 takes better video. Try standing at a concert in a crowd of people holding your camera absolutely still. No, I don't want to carry a camera into a concert when I have my phone.

Most venues won't allow you to bring in a camcorder anyway, so your phone's video had better be good enough to make you happy. Also don't forget the audio performance.

OT:

While in the process of getting denied my Nexus this morning in Boston, I did a (very) rudimentary test on a Rezound by having my DINC and the Rezound load the desktop ESPN page at the same time. The Rezound claimed to have good 4G coverage, but the pages loaded at just about the same time (Rezound with plug-ins turned on, mine with plug-ins turned to on-demand).

Was this an aberration? Never played with 4G before (waited for a phone to be worth my time), but something must have been funky here, right? I was expecting to be blown away.

I just loaded ESPN.COM on my wired 25Mb/s cable. It took about 5sec to redirect to ESPN.GO.COM and another full 30sec or so to fully render. Maybe try another site?

On WiFi I get about 50-90% higher throughput with the Rez, compared to my OG Droid.

I'm feeling the call of the Rezound again. You know, the whole "A bird in the hand.." thing. If it weren't for the locked boot loader, I think I would jump without hesitation. The pros seem like true pros and the cons are becoming murky. Can someone remind me again why the Rezound doesn't hold a candle to the Nexus?

I'm in a good position to answer that... I am loving my $50 Rezound, which was a sudden impulse buy after many months waiting for Bionic -> SGS2 -> Function -> Stratosphere -> GNex.

But the reason to wait for Nexus is ICS (which from all reports is as impressive as advertised), no bloat, unlocked bootloader, and anticipated wonderful developer support. Rezound will get ICS, but it could be 6mo or more. So far the devs haven't achieved S-Off, and it's not even clear who's working on it, so there's a chance it'll be months before you can even reliably root the thing.

Anybody else wake up this morning and get really mad when they checked their e-mail and saw this e-mail from Samsung and they were advertising their crappy Windows phones and other junk and no Nexus? Like they are taunting me.. I signed up for Nexus updates not to be spammed about the Focus Flash

SURE DID!! And I was as annoyed by it as you are lol..

Had the phone for 2 weeks and just loved it. The only reason I returned it was in anticipation of the mythical Nexus.

I know very few people want the XYBoard piece of garbage...however, let's evaluate how it can be helpful to us. Did they ever announce an official release date? I heard rumors of today, but nothing official (I could have missed it)...however it proves that they will launch a device with little to no fanfare...here's hoping for the Nexus!

I'm just going to eat a 12-pack of Costco chocolate chip muffins instead. It'll probably put me in a coma, but at least the Nexus will be out then. At least I hope so.

Noooo, how many times do I have to tell you guys, it's their chocolate chip COOKIES!!!!!! :D

But hey, are those muffins any good? Could tide me over till January. ;)

Honestly I don't think this is going to do anything to get the phone released today. Just my $0.02 though - it may work for all I know.

it probably wont get the phone released, but it should at least get a press release if it trends and the blogs start using it or mentioning it! #VZWNEXUSFAIL how can we get a Phandroid blogger to help spread the word?

As much as I'm not happy with Verizon for this failed launch, I'm starting to have growing frustration with Google as well. While Eric Schmidt is shooting his mouth off of about Android, Matias Duarte talking about GNex's unique fonts, Romaine Guy talking about the GNex's camera features, where's Google's CEO Larry Page? He's been pretty quiet when it comes to the GNex, and it's now where we need him the most to step and be more vocal and get the GNex launch done. Steve Jobs would never allow his phones to get bullied in the way Verizon is handling the GNex.
