1 Drop in an Otterbox Defender Case and Im not happy

I'm about a week in. I had my phone in an otterbox defender case and dropped it one time from about 3 feet and now my screen has a vertical thin yellow line on the left side of it.

There is no wear to the case at all.

My incredible was dropped dozens of times and survived.

Still, I love this phone

I'm not asking for anyone's OK. You'd be a fool to have 1 drop and volunteer to eat the cost. I've had it a week. The representative stated they've seen some of these phones have pixel rows go out. He gladly offered to replace it under my 14/holiday return period. It seems this would've happened with or without a drop. This isn't a trashed device. It's a virgin phone in a case. My incredible has encountered much worse in a lesser case and no case. I think this is a flukey deal and they know it.

phones arent meant to be dropped, however cell phone manufacturers know it does happen, 7 times out of 10 its by accident, and remember a human can die from falling 5 ft, so imagine that for a cell phone :p

but in all honesty, if you took it to verizon and they are giving you another, in my opinion you did what you needed to do, nothing more. congrats and i hope the next one doesnt break!

each phone is different. I dropped my incredible once, from about 3 feet, and the entire screen died. not a pixel, not a line, but completely blank. the phone was still in near-perfect condition. yet I knew I dropped it, and thus did the right thing... called insurance.

whether or not you're "looking for anyone's OK" is beside the point. this is not a blog, or twitter, or a church confessional where you air your woes and hope for absolution. this is a forum designed for question/feedback.

it's my opinion to be sure, but it's as if you posted your issue and hoped for the "call warranty" response so you didn't feel bad for doing what you know in your heart of hearts is WRONG.

sh*t happens, it's how you deal with it that ultimately defines you. I'm happy that the rep swapped it for you, but you're the one who has to answer to yourself with the knowledge that you dropped it, it got damaged somehow, and didn't do the right thing. I may be going out on the proverbial limb here, but I'd be willing to bet you never mentioned the drop when you talked to the rep...

GTFOH. My rep told me I didn't drop anything- ya understand?

I wanted folks to know that this awesome phone isn't perfectly resistant to everything.

Until this becomes a "you can only post if you own a RAZR forum", or until tomorrow, I will not gtfoh as you so delicately put it. you dropped it, you admitted it. regardless of what the rep said you did or didn't do, you know the truth.

and I'm sure anybody with a shred of intelligence knows that not everything is immune to everything. a kevlar vest can stop a bullet... but only certain bullets and certain distances and and and...

and with that I say, "thank you very much, have a nice day with your new phone" :)

Easy in here people. I can see where Master is coming from. Granted with the dead pixel line and the rep knowing about some of them having this issue it sounds like overall he got a defective phone from the get go. Every phone ever made has its fair share of bad units upon mass production.

I don't think the RAZR is indestructible. But i have seen some phones take a hell of a beating in a Defender in my time. Not saying the Defender guarantees you an unbreakable phone just saying.

As it stands i have mine in a Commuter and have dropped it a good 5 times so far. I myself haven't had an issue with it. Apparently Master did and was posting about it.

To me it seems more of a shock post because in my opinion the RAZR is a pretty sturdy piece of hardware. Throw it in a Defender and you would expect it to be even sturdier. In this instance it wasn't the case.

Gonna agree with the vzw rep in saying it sounds like something was loose in his phone from the get go. But i also know that with a phone taking any drop there is always the risk of something bad happening.

Anyway to sum this up...you should all drink more beer. Cheers! ;)

man these forums sure have changed, been gone for a while and see posts like these, makes me sad

On that note, upgraded from the X and love both phones, hopefully the razr will last me as long as my X did (X is still going, gave to friend from an OG and they love it)
