No, it's not, at least not entirely. It's to provide a service to its customers while also making enough profit to stay in business and expand that business so you can better serve your customers and possibly reach more customers. Yes, I realize a company needs to make money. But believe it or not, some companies actually care more about doing what's right for their customer base than making gobs of money. If you make your customer happy and keep them happy, you WILL make money.

I'll admit that I'm a Google fanboy, but I truly believe that their employees take the "Don't be Evil" motto to heart, and they're doing ok financially.

If I were you I'd talk to the manager when you get there and tell him that you'll hand over the phone only if the rep who sold you the phone keeps his job. Otherwise, it's no deal, and you'll go to the blogs about it and get HIM fired.

Keep the phone in the glove compartment of your car until you get the okay.

The manager was right there and was in on the sale. Her boss from their corporate threatened the fire the entire staff if they didn't get that phone back...he could have been bluffing but it wasn't worth the risk.

OK here's the skinny...

I went to buy the phone thinking there's no way I'm walking out of this store with it. The activation went through just fine but they couldn't ring up the sku.

...I consider these people friends and wouldn't want to see them fired. I am unemployed right now and I realize how tough it is out there.

but here is the good news...When I called Verizon to make certain that my upgrade eligabity was reset, I explained to the rep what happened. The Verizon rep was very forthcoming and told me that Verizon has not deleted the Nexus from their info guide but only hidden it, she says the release date is there and it's the 15th. I asked how she knew this and she said she really wants the Nexus so she went digging and found it, of course we all know that could change, but I don't doubt the rep for 1 second (and I usually doubt everything) that the 15th is the target date.

VERY classy, Sam! And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what the Golden Rule is all about! (you know...about doing unto others as you'd have them do unto you) :)

It's pure evil for a company to try to boost its bottom line? Isn't that the whole point of having a company?

Speaking of boosting the bottom line...to me it doesn't make since to have phones in stock and not sell them! If they are trying to push the Razr + Rezound the Gnex just gives the consumer an extra option and most likely more sales:thinking:

This is good news to me because I was starting to think the delay was originating from some kind of major issue with the phone, BUT WHY DID I THINK THAT? I HELD THE PHONE MYSELF? (I'm going insane).

Enjoy!

This really seems to point back to the Wallet stuff being a legal issue. It's all so weird to have a Nexus hitting VZW at all though, so in the end I am not sure I am surprised to see this be a difficult phone for them to finally send out a sell order one. Just not a VZW thing to deliberately sell open devices, even though they are supposedly bound to do so by C-Block rules and actually have an open device development portal on the nets.

Well I only have till the 13th to Return my Rezound . I think I'm going to go in this weekend an exchange my Rezound for an Iphone 4S . And use it until the Nexus come out . Reason being is I think when I go to sell the Iphone I'll get more money for it then I would the Rezound
Originally I wanted to compare the Rezound and Nexus side by side but after almost a month with it I can not deal with Sense even with launchers over it , it just bothers me and it makes me miss my CM7 Thunderbolt that I gave to my mom . It will be fun to play with Siri for a few days anyways haha

You only get one exchange.. you will be stuck paying full price on nexus.

from a common sense stand point....seeing as there are some reports there's no issues with the phone itself they are just holding it back....is because the razr isn't selling. And most likely because people want the nexus. The best thing we can all do at this point is wait and stick it to motorola and verizon for trying to force there bloatware crap down our throats. Granted verizon will still get our money we will still be showing what we as consumers really want....think of all the marketing verizon has put out for the razr.....and then the nexus comes out and blows its sales out of the water with absolutely no marketing....might make them rethink things, as always money talks to those greedy higher ups.

To everyone who keeps giving ultimatums and posting "I'll buy an iPhone if it's not out by this date" rants....

Why? What's another week when you're going to have the phone for 20 months minimum (in most cases)?

Is it just that you don't see much advantage to the GN over the iPhone?

Please don't take this as an attack. I'm just curious.

i'm not much on ultimatums, but i said this during the thunderbolt release and it fits this discussion just as well. every week you wait now is another week you have to wait for your next phone as well. if the phone had released here the same time as it did in the UK, you would already be close to a month into your new contract, and a month closer to a future upgrade. :(

ROFL!!!! Fire the entire staff?? YEAH RIGHT!!! That would've been his last move on the Verizon staff as well.
