Help ReZound video conversion

Hi. Anyone have a good recommendation for a program to convert various video formats to work on the ReZound? Something speedy and versatile. I just tried Kingconvert HTC Rezound Video Converter. Not sure if there is a paid version of this or not but the free one is terrible. Tried converting an avi to mpeg4 and it not only shrunk the actual screen size of the movie, and lowered the quality, but it took 9 hours to do it. I had to leave it running last night to finish..lol. Anyway, some recommendations would be appreciated.

There is a free app on the market called "QQ Player".
The thing does fine when playing most videos - and this is coming from someone using an OG Droid :p It'll even cover some of the wierder formats like OGG, MKV and such. For me, those are some old anime videos, and the audio sometimes gets messed up, or the subtitles don't run perfectly, so if you have those formats, try a few first.

If it doesn't process those (or any other specific files well) I recommend Handbrake. It is a free application you can download to your PC. I recommend using the pre-set configuration for iPod and you should be fine.

MX Video Player and Rockplayer have played just about everything I have thrown at it, without converting

Not me, been trying to get Sorcerers Apprentice to work and the file won't even show up in either player. Its an AVI I converted a while back, worked fine on my Incredible.

My guess it is the resolution that is the problem

Have you tried using a file browser like ASTRO to locate the AVI and see what player options pop up when you select the file? I also had an AVI that MX Player, Mobo Player or Dice Player (my new video player of choice) was unable to find. However, when I selected the file through ASTRO, it gave me the option of choosing from all of my video apps (MX, Mobo, Dice and stock). I was able to play it through MX this way. Strange, but it did work.

Oh bummer, I'll have to play around with it more to see if I have any problems. I have only tried a few on the Rezound, but like you everything played on Inc. Please post back if you figure it out

1. I use DVDFab to "backup" dvd.
2. I use handbrake to burn video in a format that works on my phones, tables, computers, apple tv and roku.

I would try DVD Catalyst if it had the ability to "backup" dvd's. Their website says the software can not do this.

I would like to add that I'm using zumocast now to stream video from my home computer to my Rezound. It's pretty awesome and works well over 3g and 4g.

This is kind of an ongoing project of mine so I try to look at what will not only fill my needs but what works best "for me". I've decided to take a look at this from the other side that I was ignoring which is to say finding a player that can play various formats. I have noticed that some of the conversion programs do work well as far as the finished product but they all take to long to get me there. I have an older computer and when I use the conversion programs they all take from 5-12hrs to finish. Waaaay to long so I'm gonna try MX and several others to see if they can play the files I've already loaded on my phone. Also, does anyone know if there is a file size limit on the ReZound and if so what it is? I tried to load the Speed Racer movie on my phone for my godson to watch at the doctor and it kept saying "not enough room on destination drive please delete some files to make room". I did just that and it still said the same thing. The movie file was 4.7 gigs and my card now has 9.2 gigs free but it's still a no go.

That is probably the fat32 file restriction. Unless the file system is ntfs you cannot put files over 4gigs on the card/drive/etc.... card would need re-formatted to ntfs (that is assuming it will still work in phone after that, I never tried)

Nightangel, I did a few tests for ya. I tried 4 different files I had of various formats. Mkv,avi,m4v,and a blue ray rip. Tried 2 different players, Moba Player and MX Player w/ arm 7. Both players played all the formats and was able to see them when opening up each player. I only had 1 of them converted for the INC. The rest were either dowloaded or files I had on my computer. Hope this helps some

Weihl,

Specifically though, what are the audio formats of the 720p files? I have found that I use Vuze transcodes to make great files. It is just a pain in the rear to have to wait an hour for each file to convert. If there is a magic video/audio combination that allows 720p and not have to convert it... I would love to know!

Here are the specifics of the file before conversion. However, I cannot see a big enough difference that shouldn't allow the unconverted file to play on the ReZound.

---------------------

Do you think it could simply be the 6 channel audio as compared to the 2 channel audio? I would think the media players on the phone would downconvert but it may not... What are your thoughts?

By the way, I started sharing my converts on Demonoid with Rezound and GNEX in the titles as well as Android 720P so people could search. All I am doing though is running them through Vuze and transcoding to the Generic 720P format.

I use DVD Catalyst and Handbrake. I encode everything in 720p high profile M4V. To watch movies on my Rezound I use Rock Player because it supports hardware decoding. Screen looks great nd their is no motion blur. It also supports random seek much better as a M4V as opposed to other formats.

How long does it take for you to convert a full length movie in Handbrake?

Honestly it depends on what you are doing the encoding with and what type of file you are encoding. Handbrake is multi-threaded and can take advantage of as many cores as your system has. I encode on a 3 year old quadcore workstation with 8GB of RAM. I also encode with two passes to get better quality output. That in mind a 1.5 hour movie takes anywhere from 40 min to 3 hours depending on the compression needed to complete the task.
