Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Flashed latest rom today. Lock screen buttons have arrows for some reason.
Anyone know what the best Governor setting is to use? Also, is there a way to disable the "HERE BE DRAGONS" message every time I click it?

You know I've always wondered that myself.

In regards to the governor I use Smarta**v2. Good for both battery life and performance.

Still on the 11092011 build and I skipped the last build. I started to use Link2SD since installing 11092011 to better take advantage of my 16GB SD card so I can have more a lot more apps installed (and it seemed to get me around the no more available space error in the Market). Do I have to take any special precautions using Link2SD or can I just wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash the 12072011 rom as usual?

I believe this was mentioned before. Do the regular wipe of cache and dalvik. Then, flash the new version. Afterwards, go to Link2SD:
[More] -> [Recreate mount scripts]

NOTE: Do not Quick Reboot. Just reboot regularly and the apps should come back up. The widgets will not work but you can easily re-add them.

Maybe we should add these instructions to the main post, Jerry. Seems like a handful of people with the OV use Link2SD. It's understandable since we're so limited with only like 150mbs of space haha xD

Tried to apply the latest update tonight following Jerry's recommendations on the first page of this thread. I was running his 11222011 build, which I would highly recommend people give a try if you haven't (heck, of course most of you have in this thread probably, LOL :D ).

Anyhow, followed steps 1-7 on the install from a previous build through recovery using CWM-based recovery v4.0.1.5 Upon trying to reboot to system, I can't make it past the boot animation of the android guy. I know something's wrong if it's there more than 10 minutes, so I pulled the battery and powered the phone back on. Upon the second attempt at booting, I received the same results.

Not a OMG!!! moment either time, as I had a good backup of course before starting this. I simply wiped cache and dalvik cache and restored my backup, leaving me running just fine as I was on the prior build.

Just wondering what some thoughts on this might be? First time poster, but been following along for awhile. Picked up the V on the Saturday morning after Black Friday for the $50 Target deal. A rockin upgrade from the painful Intercept I had prior.

Great work on the ROM Jerry! I find the V to be a much funnier modding/ROM'ing phone than the Intercept. It's exciting to see your work, and I like many others I've seen on here respect the time and effort you've put forth. :virtual pint to you good sir:

It can take quite a while especially if you have allot apps
Ok Ben, I shall perform the steps again and give it a good long while, as I have around 30 applications installed, utilizing Link2SD. Which of course I got setup with the help of the guide on this forum.

Is there a time that I should just say to heck with it and revert back again? I.E. if it continues for an hour or more would it be safe to assume (I know the dangers of assuming) that it won't flash properly?

This is not directed at you, just to answer your question....

So long as people post/file bug reports on issues that occur while overclocked etc, the warning will not be removed. ;)

Well, I did the steps again, and let it run overnight after the reboot. Still get the same results of being stuck at the boot animation screen when I woke up this morning.

I'd say 15 to 20 last time mine took 15 minutes
I certainly gave it more time than this, letting it run over night!

Could be a bad download. Be sure to check the md5sum of the rom zip file on your phone, it should match the one I posted. To check it, use Terminal Emulator, type in the following:
Code:
su
cd /sdcard
md5sum NAME_OF_ROM_ZIP_FILE_HERE
Every digit should match. ;)
Checked my md5sum before I ever tried to install the upgrade, and it does match. Just double checked again and it is a valid download.

I've restored from my backup again and back to the prior version. I redownloaded the file and verified it again....I guess I'll try it again at a later point today. This is odd.

Well I tried again, reverified new dowload file to have correct md5sum. Still got the same results. Not a huge issue for me, (other than the fact I'm teased by not seeing the easter egg) as I'm running along just fine on the last version. But it will drive my tech mind mad until I get a grasp on why it's reacting this way.

Got do /etc/init.d/ and move the 01mvdalvik file or rename it to 01mvdalvik.bak. Then clear the market cache and data. Reboot recovery and wipe cache and dalvik.

I keep receiving the insufficient space error with the market. I tried these steps with File Manager but I wasn't allowed to rename, move, or delete the file. Any other programs to use preferably free.

Also, I just started having trouble moving apps to the sd card with the built in move to sd. An error message pops up the first time I try saying " Failed to move application." When I try a second time it works. Not a big issue but a small annoyance.

Use ES File Explorer and go into settings and select something like write permission. It will let you do one of those things but it didn't fix my market for more than a few hours.

I've got the new build running, liking it so far. I've updated my theme for it, for those interested. I can't get the xmas egg to appear, but that's hardly a deal breaker. Once again, nice work Jerry!

Go to about phone and tap each info line 4times. There's an egg in each. The backside one you can't miss.

As posted in my original post in this thread:
I guess I can always just wipe everything and install this update fresh, but it's a bit of a hassle sometimes with Link2SD and having to restore through TIBU.
I used Thunderc-1.2.0 and it installed witth no problems and I just flashed the updated rom with no problems.
If you installed with the v4.0.1.5 I wonder why your having problems with the update.
Could the Link2SD be interfering?

hey jerry, i have a nice lil suggestion for a future build, if its possible that is, the ability to scan the sd card for font packs, and using said font as the system font. the ability to be able to change system font, throughout the phone, would be a nice feature.loving the new update, although my phone has froze twice, and then rebooted itself.. something that i havent experienced since an early september build.. not that big of a deal, it hasnt happened since. keep up the good work, and hope you give my suggestion a little thought.
