Latest update: Campaign 2 DLC expansion pack now available!

Origin8's epic sci fi Tower Defense game "Sentinel 3: Homeworld" is now available on the Android Market (category Games > Casual). Early ratings and reviews indicate that Android gamers are enjoying it just as much as those on iOS, where Sentinel 3 won multiple awards and was placed in many Top 10 of 2010 lists. Don't worry that the first two instalments aren't on Android, it's not a plot heavy series and you can jump right in to the action with 3 :)

Thanks for posting the link, ogrenator. New forums accounts are restricted from doing so - I'll pretty up the first post once I'm not a newb :)

We're looking into providing HD graphics right now. The current version of the game is pretty highly optimised to fit into 35 mb, but now that sales and ratings are looking good we know it'll be worth it to offer HD as a secondary download. I'll keep you posted on our progress.

Yeah, the game is really good. When the HD version comes out, I will definitely be getting it for my Xoom. The current version is fine for a phone though.

One problem that I have came across is, while zoomed out fully, the menus are cut off for towers that are placed on the edge of the screen. Maybe make the side menus vertical for that situation? Other than that, its a great game.

The HD graphics update is now out - let us know what you think!

This update also fixes the installation problem on devices with a small download cache (mostly Samsungs). You should now be able to install the game trouble free :)

Many thanks, just downloading the HD package and the game now looks detailed even when zoomed all the way in.

Good job :D

We're also up on the Amazon Appstore now.

Will there be any further expansions such as new maps or new sentinel weapons?

The iOS version has a large DLC expansion pack with a second campaign and more weapons which we hope to bring to Android, but as we have no Android in-app purchase system in place yet it won't be for a while. As always I'll keep you posted on any news.

This is an awesome game, with great graphics on my Asus Transformer and good replayability. I've played through on easy and medium, now i'm going through on hard.

I'd really love more levels for the game, and i'd be happy to pay for them. If there are no in-app purchases on Android and it means downloading a new version, no problem.

It'd be nice if when you changed your difficulty it showed you which is the next map to play. Right now if you beat it in easy, then set the difficulty to hard, to start the next hard level you have to scroll back to work out manually which one to play. That's a minor quibble.

We're working on an Android IAP system right now, so hopefully we can bring you Campaign 2 soon :)

In other news, Sentinel 3 is in today's Android Market 10 cent sale! However, our secondary download server is taking a beating due to the number of new players, so my advice is to grab the game now at sale price and do the full installation in a day or two. If any of you have been trying to download the data packs, we're sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have it cleared up soon.

This is what I've been doing. Games that I knew would require additional data I've just bought and downloaded the app without even opening it. No need to rush to see if the app was worth the price when the price is $.10

You'll need the 19 Mb package either way. The Desire HD will probably be able to cope with the HD pack, but if you run into any graphical glitches the HD pack is easily uninstalled so you can revert to standard.

On a similar note, we're in the Market 10 cent sale once more, which means our download servers are being hammered once more. If any of you receive an "incorrect file size" error, the file is fine, it's actually a connection error. Keep trying and you should be able to get through.

Love the game.... it is complex in the amount of choices and ways to finish levels.... give some new guys a hint.... don't just keep buying new turrets when you don't need them.... build just enough to allow you to get through the wave... even if you have extra money don't buy the extra turret until you need them and you will see when you need them. The reason for this is you get approx 5% interest on there money you have when you finish each wave....... so the more money you have especially in the harder levels the more interest you get and in some of the levels it can make the difference because when you think about it if you have $2000 at the end of the wave you will receive an extra $100 which can buy you another turret... also waiting to but the turret will make sure you put the turret in the right place and know what turret you need.. i had to learn this the hard way and only squeaked through some on easy but after I started this method I was winning a lot easier on the harder skill levels.

The Campaign 2 expansion pack DLC is now available on Android! It contains a 15 level campaign across 15 brand new maps (all of which can be unlocked for Endless mode), new weapons, enemies and landscape features, plus a new Commander Mech specialising in ranged offence.

All players get a couple of new levels as a free teaser, plus you can play with the new Mech up to level 5. Enjoy!

I got more than my moneys worth from this game. But an update with an in-app purchase for a paid game? Something about the principle of the whole thing seems wrong.

I would have been less upset if Origin8 was more forthcoming that we have a 27MB update, but it really is only 2 levels free, after that it is an in app purchase to get the rest rather than:

Maybe next time just put the new updates in a separate game using the same engine and call it Sentinel 4?
