I got this PM with pictures from one of our own. I don't know if s/he wanted me to use their name, so I have this person as anonymous, now, just to be cautious. If they want to be public, that's fine. They can do that later. If not, I'll be glad to be a conduit of info.

Steven

I have a problem with those pics....

that bud light is way too close to that phone for comfort.

Well my sister just had a baby boy! Gratz to her, but I feel bad... She works for Verizon and I had to ask lmao... She rolled her eyes thru the phone and begrudingly said her store was told 16th. Also added no one really knows why... She works in Seattle, WA in case anyone cares....

I imagine it went like this:

"Hey Bro, good news"

"No way, it happened?"

"Yep"

"When?"

"Just now."

"So is it preorders, or is it available to purchase?"

"What?"

With this 3rd source's news, we may need to start worrying not about when it will get released, but if it will. Verizon is stubborn, they turned down the OG Nexus and the Iphone out of nothing but sheer corporate greed, and thinking that history won't repeat itself just because they have the phones in stores may be giving Verizon too much credit. After all, so far they aren't out a lot on the deal. The side that stands to lose the most out of them backing out is Google/Samsung. VZW will lose a couple thousand people who care and probably money to buy out of the contract with G/S, but if they are stubborn enough to turn down the Iphone, this is well within the realm of possibility.

I find it extremely bizarre how none of my local stores say they have the Nexus. Like I said earlier, I was going to stop by some stores tonight but I still haven't gotten the chance to do that (maybe tomorrow?), but even then, none of the 3rd party stores have it. Am I in a Nexus-deprived location?! :(

maybe. its known that even if it isnt the reason for the delay, that all locations do not have stock.

Add my name to the list of those that got to play with the GNEX but not take it home. I was out with the wife and stopped into Verizon just for kicks. I was double checking the holiday return policy to make sure I could go over 14 days and then still return the bionic which they confirmed but I am still a little nervous about it. Anyways the tech asked which phone I wanted and I said either a 4S or the GN. He says yeah I'm waiting on the Gn myself. I then said when is it going to release. He said the 15th. I proceed to ask if they have a demo. He smiles and says hold on one sec. Goes in the back brings out a fully functional phone. Played with it for about 5 minutes. He and his Manager said no pics though. It is lighter than expected and thinner that what I thought as well. The phone flat out flies and he told me it beat every other phone they had on speed tests. It definitely made up my mind that I can wait until they release it because trust me guys it is worth the wait!

By the way this was in Charlotte, NC.

I bet he already created a AF account and we don't know it yet ;) He's waiting for the GN just like the rest of us now. How's it feel to be on this side of the tracks big guy?!

He has had an account here for quite a while. He made some great kernals for the OG Droid when it was in its prime. He is actually a very tallented dev. but alas he does have other tallents that seem to outshine that.

Just called another Radioshack. Rep didn't seem familiar with the phone, and said "Let me see if we have it in stock." Put me on hold for a minute, and told me
"We have the Galaxy Nexus, but we can't sell it yet."

I responded "You have the phone, but you can't sell it? That's a shame."

The rep sympathized/agreed with me, and after asking about a release date, the rep put me on hold again and asked around. A minute later, he told me:

"It's going to be for sale on either the 13th or the 15th"

Still no luck finding a store that'll sell me one today, but Dec. 15 is looking pretty good at this point. I'm probably not going to call any West Coast stores tonight, because the information has improved since last night, and all they could have for me is info.

posted by yakitori at droidforums.net...

"I propose a national punk Verizon day.

If the phone is not released on the 15th....thousands of us should walk into a Verizon store....pretend you are wanting to buy the razr. Make the attendant walk to back and get one...bring it out to you....wait till they open the package and say....psych I'm waiting for nexus ....later.

They will have hoards of opened razrs lol. A friend must record and upload to YouTube."

LMAO! TOO FUNNY!

Bummer man!
The corp store where I purchased the accessories in NYC said they have them in the back and are ready to sell them as soon as Verizon gives them the words. They showed me the stockpile of boxes (they had quite a lot, about 50 or so I would say). I was somewhat shocked at how many they had. Wasn't allowed to take any pictures though. :(

unfortunately i'm starting to see this as a possibility...VZW scrapping the deal on the Gnex that is...however they did EVENTUALLY start carrying the iPhone...my optimism tells me there is a contract involved and they will sell the phone they are just working out some BS that the contract didn't necessarily cover but is being forced nonetheless...only time will tell:thinking:

Just to be clear I had absolutely no issues activating the Nexus.

I even made 3 calls on it. If you notice my screenshot I have the voice mail indicator on the screen from the store that left me a message.

I had no trouble activating the phone either. It went right through. My trouble came with she tried to ring me up. If there hadn't been a freeze in the computer at Best Buy, I'd have mine right now.
