***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Status
Not open for further replies.
I am sure there have been posts already, BUT... I have information from a Verizon District Manager from the area I live in 'confirmed' (I know... we have heard this before!) that the 15th is the day the phone will be launched. Advertising will be going up this week only a couple days before Thursday (15th). Obviously you can take this with a grain of salt... but I am near 100% sure this is accurate. Maybe this will help some of you put your worries to rest, maybe not. I thought I would at least share this information with all of you.

~metalcated

Well... I suppose if we see the propaganda going up on Mon/Tues we can pop the corks

Traditionally, all Nexus phones have always received their updates directly from Google.

The Nexus is unique in the Android world for precisely that reason, and because it's new to Verizon, I would venture to say that's simply mistaken and is going on past, non-Nexus experience, in my opinion.

...and to expand on that, I think it's a safe bet that anything Google puts out (or anything that leaks) regarding ICS will fit/work on the Nexus perfectly.
So even if Big Red gets their hands in the cookie jar and tries to hold back updates I think it'll be quite easy to grab whatever you want from the interwebz and go to town with it. :D

And we had to half cave in on the whole nexus thing. Son and I both wanted one but he is due to leave the country next week and just can't wait til the 15. So he settled for the Razr. Can I admit that here? hopefully the nexus will release before that and we can return it.

Hola Cindir, nice to see a fellow NoDakker on here

More dribble from the earp:

Well, I do not intend this post to be 'baiting' nor 'attacking' nor anything else that (I hope) the mods need to 'infraction' me for.

But I keep seeing the word delayed in so many posts here I feel I must say something about that word. Delayed implies that VZW made an official announcement and then had to back away from it. The speculation that a 'delay' has to do with the google wallet, the recent LTE outage, aliens landing, John
Wilkes Booth coming back to life, nor my defense of P3Droid and Lee Harvey Oswald is IMHO null and void.

I, and others, have posted some fairly solid info that the Samsung i515 phone will release the week of 12/12, with _possible_ pre-orders the week of 12/5. Well the _possible_ pre-order date range was given as just that. Possible. It didn't happen. We still have a few days to go to see the release date of the week of 12/12 to come and go; but we have yet to see an actual official release date announced by VZW. So that said, there is IMHO, no such thing as a delay as of yet, no matter what the speculation is, as such speculation is based on rumor and not an official announcement by VZW.

Now that I've said all that, who's looking forward to a Motoroogle developer device that will really rival the Moto A855 in openess?

Oh and to finish, I did go to a local Authorized retailer in Chehalis, WA (go wireless) last Tuesday (12/6). I charged into the store and when they asked "Can we help you?" I just said, "I'm looking to see if you have a Galaxy Nexus accidently on display". They replied, "No". I asked if they had anyone else ask about it. They replied, "No, you're the first one". So I turned around and asked if they could say anything else about it, and of course they said "No". So I said, "Well probably next week then". And they said "Yup". Now this last paragraph was just my dealings with CSR's in a VZW retailer. IMHO none of it can be taken to the bank as in my experience VZW employee's have no clue and/or are under such strict NDA agreeements that ANY thing they say is just that. Talk. All I can say is that they didn't deny knowledge of it.

Now the earp is done dribbling.

Is it just me, or are there numbers in the earpiece of this phone on eBay...?

Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus - 32GB - Black (Verizon) Smartphone | eBay

That's the time in the notification bar - earpiece is above that.

(Probably already ninja'd!)

Had to really enlarge that! Product codes on the plastic screen protector?

If you have Netflix streaming, it's available there.

I recently started watching, halfway through Season2 myself and I can't begin to agree with OTD enough, the show is incredible.
Plus I was the 1 person that liked Blair Witch Project 2 and the dude that plays Michael was in that (among other movies). :D

I do have Netflix streaming. Great way to catch the first season.

IF I could get off this thread long enough.

That whole story sounds whacked to me... why would a guy from "out of the country" have the phone to begin with? Why would it be brand new without the box? 10:1 activating that puppy would be a nightmare

Phone is brand new I got it from guy who develops software for phones. I bought it handset and USB cable only!!! NO BOX he was visiting from oversees and I begged for this phone so I could be the first to have it. This phone is awesome and seriously worth every penny .. The face lock recognition is amazing and this phone is fast. I checked the ESN on Verizon and it is clear and clean. All you need is a micro sim from Verizon and you ready.

New poster to the forum, and have been lurking for weeks.

Had a visit to VZW company store in FtMyers, FL this evening an had a VERY positive and helpfull experience with an associate. He was happy to "demo" the Gnex and offered that they have more than 30 waiting for sale once release date has been announced. He explained that while the battery life would not be "exceptional", that an "extended life battery" would be availabe for an additional charge. Also, his location would be offering free Gnex classes on saturdays after release to help customers become familiar with all the features. I expect this may be an effort to promote Google+, but who cares. Finally, regarding release date, he was non-commital, but offered that advertising would be "Heavy" shortly prior to release. (anybody have a hook with whomever creates advertizing for VZW?) I left after 30 uninterupted minutes whil trying not to drool on my size 13s.

a lot of people don't remember, but Jeffrey Donovan had a series on USA that didn't last very long - Touching Evil (and co-starring Vera Farmiga and Bradley Cooper). i really liked it, but it got cancelled quickly.

Ya, begged for the phone to be the 1st, then turn around and sell. Sorry, he does not deserve the Nexus. Anyone live in near Spring, TX should relieve him of his Nexus.

:D
