In prep for a backpack trip to South America and elsewhere....I purchased a Lapdock for my 4G. The 4G is open so I will be able to get SIM cards in various places I plan to roam-- I purchased the Lapdock to accomplish a couple of things 1) to be able to journal and save the entries; and 2) to be able to transfer photos from my camera to my FreeAgent drive. So far I can not make the phone/lapdock combo recognize the Freeagent. One reason may be that the phone is Linux and the FreeAgent may be formatted FAT32. Normally Linux wont have any problems recognizing a non native file system but I am not so sure about Android.

So far the 4G/Lapdock combination has worked reasonaby well. Journaling is getting easier the more I get used to the ideosynchronicities of the combination. The keyboard for any extended work isnt that great but hopefully that will improve with more use (I know buy a bluetooth keyboard...thats just one more thing to carry LOL).

In any case I would be interested to hear from anyone thats been able to mount and use a Freeagent drive with this combination.

TIA

As an update to the above a couple of other facts--the FreeAgent is formatted NTFS. Seagate is attempting to offer some support in some limited apps for their FreeAgent wireless drives on the Android Store-- there are a lot of complaints about the apps and no mention of support for a USB pluggable drive. I also omitted that when the drive is plugged into the lapdock on screen message is "mass storage device, no filesystem".

Sorry to have omitted these things in my earlier post. Maybe the thing to do would be to format the drive EXT4......I already am returning one of these drives to Seagate under warranty because of a failure. Any suggestions on another brand of USB drive supported by Android
