Root Odin Image File Creator 4.0

did it anyway just in case thanks man i appreciate all you do!:D:D:D:D

by the way what is the csc.tar file contain?

the cache partition.
the most important purpose it serves is to make it the same filesystem type as you had before.

Stock is RFS and going back to stock from CTmod or Cyanogenmod can have problems if you don't make the filesystem rfs again (easily done in stock by doing a factory reset).

If your /cache is rfs and you restore to a backup of Cyanogenmod or CTmod, it will run just fine, but it wont be ext4 optimized. flashing the csc.tar in ODIN puts it back to exactly how it was when you ran the backup.

Just curious why you don't like TB? I respect your opinion so I would like to learn something

I just don't like the way it does things. Mostly just a matter of personal preference.
A lot of what it does, I do manually on reflex, so i just find it faster and more Kouma-Friendly to just do things my way :)

i dont use TB either, i use Root Uninstaller, the pro version is less than $3 and it backs up everything just like TB. no need to schedule, stock settings auto backup all your apps.

i move apps with es file explorer (FREE, unlike Root Explorer) and if there is an update i just go into auto backup and delete the old version.

if im missing some amazing $6 feature that TB provides, please enlighten me and i will likely try it out (i got fifteen min or so to agree with you or not, lol)

Kouma, I was using Kouma Pack 3.0 to backup CM7. I use S2E for apps and Dalvik cache.

Just to be safe before I did it I moved both apps and Dalvik back top internal so the packer would get them. I assume it ignores the SD-EXT. No big deal, phone actually runs fine. Not using a lot of apps now, since many things run just as well from the browser. Maybe, I will leave it this way. But I doubt it.

Al that is immaterial to the main point of this post. When I did the pack it ran through but did generate some errors on the pda.tar section because it could not find a data.rfs file. it did not abort and seemed to create all the tars just fine. I have not tried to restore this using Odin yet, but when I do will it work.

I know that CM7 uses EXT4 instead of RFS formats. But so does CTMOD and I do not remember getting this error then.

I have used All three versions of the packer and never gotten any errors before.

Still got my pack from SHABBYMOD .9

And BTW, I have recently gotten some errors using Titanium since I moved to CM7 so I don't always trust it to work properly in certain situations. I now use other methods too.

Edit: see next post.

Just went back and read this post. Sorry about that. December 11 was a long Time ago.

So, does all that mean that everything is cool. I never plan to go back to stock and RFS unless I have to take the phone back to Boost. If I flash it cache will stay EXT4 just like when it was when I backed it up?

yeah, it'll stay ext4 but the stock recovery will format it back to rfs

hey kouma, is this something good to do? or just odin to stock and then restore a backup? if this is good what is a step by step to doing this?
This makes an Odin flashable image out of your current setup. Like a backup in cwm, but for Odin.

If you odin to stock, then use this, It will make a copy of the Odin image you just flashed. If you use this, then Odin to stock, then Odin the files this creates, you will have done nothing. (your phone will be exactly as when you made the image)

It's what I do in lieu of CWM backups since it saves the backup directly to my PC, and it saves pretty much everything (except what's on the sdcard) without much interaction at all, so I'm free to do other things while it just crunches away.

As for a step by step, just extract the zip to an empty folder and run the included .bat file. Answer prompts as appropriate (pretty much just one question and a bunch of "Press any key to continue")

well i opened the prevail odin backup.bat, then plug in phone and hit a key then asks for froyo or ginger, hit ginger and then says, system cannot find the path specified, rebooting system into recovery mode, cannot find the path specified.

so when i plugged in phone, with usb debuggin on, won't work? do i need to plug in when in a mode or just when on like using it everyday?

Hi,

Is this application compatible with ICS phones?

I've a Samsung Galaxy S2 with ICS.

If this application is compatible, it will be awesome!

Thanks in advance for the answer.

this is created specifically for the Samsung galaxy prevail. BUT if you know what you're doing you should be able to change the script to work with your devices partitions.
