Yakju and all variants of it are GSM firmware builds. The variants of Yakju (ie - yakjuxw) are regional builds distributed by Samsung.

The LTE firmware build is Mysid. I don't foresee Samsung releasing firmware builds, as LTE is locked to one region. So you should be fine - nothing to worry about.

To answer your question, though - there is no 'easy' way to check instore that I'm aware of.

Called BestBuy, no luck, guy asked for his manager to find out if they were selling it.

"There's no release date for the phone yet."

Called RadioShack, very helpful guy but didn't know anything about the phone, tried to tell me it's called the Galaxy 4 or Nexus 4 and thought it was on Sprint when I told him to look for Verizon phones.

He found a Nexus Prime(odd) and I Told him that was an old name for the phone so maybe that's it, he said he was gonna look into it some more and give his Verizon rep a call (eye roll) so basically I won't be getting a phone today from Radioshack.

Really interesting how small our Nexus ecosystem is yet how expansive the internet is yet so many people who should be aware of the phone and handling it don't have a clue.

OK that guy has his receipt as proof. Im going to try and load those images (phone and receipt) up on my phone, walk into best buy, and if its a no go (TX here folks) then get them to call the store.

Actually I may have snagged a problem here. Even With me printing out the reciept and his open box as proof LOOK at the reciept. the 99999's on the reciept is where the SKU should be. They faked a SKU to manually sell it since it wont ring up. Probably going to face the same trouble everyone else has when it hits this point and they will reverse it. I do work retail.

I found one in boston that addmited they had em but wouldn't let me look at em. I found a bestbuy that told they had to remove the dummy and wouldn't even let me look at the dummy (bestbuys in boston do not have live phones just dummies)

Boooo. Just saw the receipt on the Olathe store that sold it. Not liking that its a general merch receipt. Also, upon calling the store, they say that its the 15th. Guessing whoever sold it to him didn't get the memo, but the front desk people did lol. Oops! Ahh well.

A VZW rep just told me the reason for the delay is because Apple is trying to sue Samsung for the nexus.... Not sure if I believe that or not...

Just came back from a Verizon store. I walked in and saw the guy I've bugged there the last 3 weeks. I said, "Where's the nexus demo already." He said, "Right here" and handed it to me. With all the secrecy everyone has been talking about I was shocked. He also confirmed they have several in stock, but just waiting on the sale. Past visits they either didn't have stock or denied it. Looks like it is up to VZW / Google to pull the trigger now.

I can confirm that it is big, but it will be fine for most people with average or bigger hands. It felt pretty close size-wise to my Droid X. Screen looked great. I can't wait to get one of these bad boys.

Off Topic

Just finished catching up. I actually went out with some friends last night and had a "normal" social life, at least I am pretty sure that is what it was. Saw a local band from around the northern IL area, The Pimps (formerly The Good Year Pimps). Amazing show!! Lots of energy too!

On Topic

I went into a local corporate store and got the runaround from the manager last night. I got the we don't have any in stock, can't sell you accessories for a phone that hasn't been officially announced, etc. I ended up talking to an associate there and he is just as big of an Android enthusiast as the rest of us. He told me that they have plenty in the back but they just can't sell them yet. He has been waiting for one just like us. He took my name and number like so many of you had happen so we will see just what happens. He said they had not received any word of a new date, which judging by the manager's reaction to my questions, makes me think that she may not have shared that with anyone yet.

Congrats again to those who have gotten their phones early!! Hopefully we will be able to join you all soon!

There are two confirmed people on this forum, and another on AC who got the phone. Since this isn't in the system for sale, all three have only been able to purchase it on a general sale receipt.

Your hopes rely on someone who is completely misinformed that they can even sell it, and if so, they may get into trouble for being so misinformed. As Steven said, it's not worth it.
