Root Camera (red) button issue.

For some reason my camera (red side button) isn't working. It's not just for the camera function either. I noticed it when I went into recovery to do a backup before updating my rom. I enter into recovery, scroll down to the option with the vol. keys, but pushing the red button to select didn't do anything. I couldnt even exit recovery, had to pull the battery.
I'm running CM74DX-GB (build 2011-11-18...I think).
Is there an option in CM7 settings that disable it? I couldnt find one. Is there something I missed somewhere, or is my button just broke?

Anyone else had a similar issue?

im not sure the camera button works, on gingerbread in the cwr

It seems as though it was working on cm7 at some point, but I'm not positive about my specific build. Then again, it's not addressed in the "known issues" of the rom.

if its not working period you may have dropped it(by accident) or something else, you may want to do more research in verifying the camera button is in fact working

It is possible that I broke it some how at some point, thats why I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced it yet.
I have tried enabling the option in CM7 settings to allow the button to play/pause music, which it didn't have any effect. Also tried changing enable/disable shutter sound.... nothing.

Any ideas of other ways to verify?

I'm running CM7 on GB650 and my camera button works fine for the camera, and in CWM Recovery . It has 2 stages, but I've yet to learn why. Some things require a shallow press of the button, and other things require a deeper press to the second stage of the button. But to be safe it seems you can always press it fully when working with Recovery.
