3g on metro (for real)

Very stable 3G in Miami.
For anyone familiar with the area, its stable around FIU and pretty much all of kendall.

I live in Lehigh Acres FL, but work in the Ft. Myers FL area. I updated a while back to the 3023 PRL through the instructions in this thread. There is currently no 4G in my area although the people from the MetroPCS store claim that it will be here November 15th. Anyhow, I went to work this morning and noticed my 3G icon was lit up. I immediately ran a speed test and only got a max of 125kbps down and 58kbps up (definately NOT 3G speed). I then tried loading web sites in my browser, and to my amazement, they popped up in no time at all. I had already cleared my browsing cache, so I know that wasnt the reason. After work, I returned home to lehigh acres and my icon reverted back to 1x. I was under the impression that the indulge wouldnt recieve 3G unless I was in a 4G area, and the signal wasnt strong enough; it would drop down to 3G. I guess maybe they are testing 3G in the area and getting ready for 4G to go live in November. Whatever the case, it's nice to see progress finally being made in my area. Way to go Metro!

I Live in that area and ive been forcing that same prl this entire time with no results, my computer just wont recognize my M835.... im gonna try to go back to the stock rom and try again but 3g in my future is looking bleak

All of a sudden today for the first time I have the icon for 3g and 1x, 3g above 1x shows 4 bars and 1x 3-4 bars.

Question is does this mean I can somehow get it on my Ascen? I tried DLing an App and still takes like 25 min to DL a small app, so is there a way to force my cell to get 3g? I see *228 but tried it and dont know what I am supposed to do once I get them on.

please help, this cell is slow and I cant take it no more lol

Of course you can. If your getting a 3g signal around your area at all, based on the report's posted by the people in Florida, you will soon have 3g all over your face.

You must keep in mind though, this evdo is just supposed to be temporary.

Also why are you on the Indulge forums if you have an ascend? There at least 50 threads on the ascend forums about prl updates and 3g.

Update for NW Georgia . Acworth and Cartersville now have 3G as of 3 days ago. No they arent advertising it, but those of use with the forced PRL are enjoying it! Whoot!

Yesterday my phone rebooted unexpectedly and I didn't think anything of it. Last night though I noticed the 3G icon for the first time in Green Cove Springs FL. Checked the PRL and sure enough I had been updated to PRL 3026. Noticed it again this time at work in Jacksonville, FL. So 3G in Northeast FL

Heh - my problem is that the areas I see are in poor signal area so it either drops to 1X or goes up to 4g before I can test anything with.

First time I see 3G icon on my phone, i'm not sure how it happened, couldn't test it for speed. It happen'd either right after turning off 4G(via AnyCut) or after a few minutes(I was listening to Pandora via WiFi)..

And it looks like im on PRL 03026

3026 is now coming over *228 in the boston area. 1x is definately stronger as is 4g (though the coverge gaps are still there, grr). No sign of 3g north of boston yet however. Im hoping this is the beginning though as 4g north of boston is too sporadic to do anything but suck battery life.

Any other boston people chime in and keep your eyes peeled please...

3G popped up all by itself on my phone towards the end of last week (Thurs. or Friday). This is official from Metro, as I had never gotten around to updating my PRL manually. Haven't tested any speeds yet, mostly because I already know how bad they are going to be. lol But maybe I will give that a whirl one of these days...

I'm in Tampa market (Pinellas County, specifically).

Same here, I live in central NJ and a few days ago I drove north closer to NYC and my phone suddenly showed the 3G icon for the first time. it was weird but yet quite faster to load facebook. now it shows PRL 3026 instead of the 3019 it had a few days ago.

The 3g speedtest I have gotten showed speeds of .4-.8 mbps. The 4g that I now have is showing speeds up to 2 mbps . this is in the Greater Atlanta region!
