***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I am eligible for the discount and I use nowhere near 2GB data per month. I believe the only requirements are 3G currently, sign a new 2 year contract for a 4G phone and do it before Dec 31st. That is what a CSR rep told me over the phone this evening. She said it would automatically appear when I purchased the new phone. I don't know anything about the region issue but I live in NC.

good news. I am still waiting to hear back from the email I sent earlier.

:D So I was "in town" again today, so I stopped by the VZ store hoping I could take a peak at the accessories. I was hoping to pick the accessories that I want so that when my husband has to go back to town later this week he could get them with the phone (HOPEFULLY!!). Well, the manager who has become "my friend!" brought the phone out again for me to play with, but it's battery was dead. He plugged it in and said if I wanted to wait, I could play with it when it was charging, but I didn't have time. But he brought out the cases and other things and said I could buy them tonight, I didn't have to wait till the phone came out! So I walked out with a case, extended battery (and cover) and a package of screen protectors. :D:D
Ok, the Commission part! One of the associates has told me all along that the Nexus was TOO big! He could never like a phone THAT big! He saw me holding the phone and came running, "What's THAT??" Um, hello? What do you think? He grabbed it and immediately fell in love! Now he wants one!
They both assured me that they would call as soon as they had a certain date!

so THATS how they plan to undercut sales of the nexus!!! notice the 199 price point, and to many avg joe consumers, that will be enough to sway them. SMH

Its also not going to be marketed as a "premium" device.

1 Ghz dual-core?
4 inch QHD screen?
Keyboard?

The hardware keyboard idea is a dying breed. With 4+ inch phones, a hardware keyboard becomes unnecessary bulk. I agree they were required on 3.5, 3.8, etc inch screens, but especially now with 4.3 becoming the standard, there is a lot more space available. The majority of people don't want it anymore.

I'm almost certain that nobody is going to be pushing a slide-out QWERTY as a premium device. Look at the Droid3....kind of a flash in the pan.

Verizon probably did that so that reps wouldn't leak any info ahead of their official announcement, after seeing what happened leading up to the 9th.

Or this is even more of a tenuous date due to the google wallet thing. Perhaps they thought they could have gotten it sorted by the 9th which is why everything went out. After that failed, they just said we will shoot for next week since that's easy to do. That is whether or not they thought it would really go off or not on the 15th.

BUT...they aren't acting in their official capacity as CSR's right now. They are people on a Facebook page....not Verizon employees.

Look at their profiles- a bit of detective work showed me that ALL of them are CSRs. And I decided that they took it too far- I'm filing a BBB complaint. I might be seventeen but that doesn't give them grounds to insult me and ignore what I say.

To all those who say their stores tell them they have no stock:

We know they're lying because the same stores told us they did in fact have stock before the 9th. We have heard of people seeing with their own two eyes that they have stock, but what's probably happening is Verizon is telling them to lie about it. We saw this in some internal document leaks, that employees are supposed to not disclose any information...

So everyone relax about the stock issue. Stores have stock. They will sell on the 15th because just about everyone's store reps have told us that.

That actually makes me a little happier :)

Just out of curiousity, which stores have you asked? The only place I know of that will admit having phones in stock is the Costco in Glenview

i heard it was a word of mouth thing so that no one has any photographic evidence to post all over the internet

FWIW...let's not forget @PydePyper has been saying for 3 or so weeks now that a release before the week of 12/12 would not happen based on his sources...so far he has been right

Coming from someone who worked in retail for 5 years I will say that there is a good chance they are saying they have no stock to make their life easier. If they say they have stock then they open themselves up to more questions such as "why can't you sell it to me?"

I'm pretty confident everywhere that will sell the phone at launch has the phone by now, Verizon stores definitely should have plenty of them by now.

All Verizon corporate stores and authorized retailers within a reasonable distance (~25-30 miles) of 60035. Also tried every single RS, BB, and Costco.

And I even went to the Glenview Costco myself, they said they knew nothing about the Nexus other than that they will have it on launch day... yeah right.

Okay, new fun plan!! photoshop contest, make photoshops have all the possible reasons or places the nexus could be that are preventing it from being released

could be fun to post on the VZ facebook wall

I heard there's a "Scumbag Verizon" meme going around ;)

"Galaxy Nexus in stores"
"Tells employees to deny existence"

Incorrect. A 17 year old can sign a contract, it just cannot legally be upheld and can be voided by the minor prior to 18. Also, an emancipated teen (adult) legally has the consent of majority. So no, you're kind of wrong. Actually, fully wrong.

No. I'm not. The contract is not legally binding until it is reaffirmed at the age of majority. Until that point the minor may terminate it at any time. I never said he couldn't SIGN a contract, I just said he couldn't sign a legally binding one. As far as the emancipation goes, I will admit it was an assumption that he is not, and as far as legality goes makes the point moot because for all intents and purposes the emancipated individual is considered at the age of majority.

hey guys, does anyone know the details on this $100 coupon promotion that verizon is doing? i called them yesterday and they said there is no such thing. according to them, it may be a third party retailer offering the $100 coupon.

Lots of discussion on this on previous pages. Initial consensus is this is a regional promotion only for Midwest residents. the original mailer is posted on droid life.

I'm curious if anyone can find where this so called December 15th date originated from because right it seems like the phone has been delayed indefinitely. :/

I was told by the store manager of the corporate store I go to that it is being released on the 15th. He also told me to come see him tomorrow (Monday) morning and be should have more info. As soon as I find out anything I'll report it here.

I have no evidence to back this up, but I would like to add "distribution problems" to the official list of theories as to why the release as pushed back.
Maybe, just maybe, some of these stores are telling the truth and they don't have stock. (Agree that some of them are probably lying). But maybe there was some kind of distribution breakdown where certain regions did not receive the phone.

Yes another unsubstantiated theory but hey, we are all killing time here anyway until the next big rumor.
