That's the thing, you don't need to have the Honeycomb source for the ICS build. The bootloader is unlocked so you can pretty much attempt to put whatever you want on there (even seen an attempt at Gingerbread that didn't go well because of a lack of physical buttons).

Not having the Honey Comb source only limits you in dev on Honey Comb.

Trust me Ive taken this thing to Ubuntu and back. It is doable. Only reason I haven't attempted it is because I am not at home with my desktop.

I know you don't need the ics source I was just using it in reference to the development community being small for the Xoom

I'll be just fine when (not if) Thursday doesn't happen. I'm patiently waiting for the inevitable delay rumors to start flying just like they did last week. I'm so sick of being the pessimist. I really want to be wrong eventually. :(

I want more than anything for you to be wrong. :D

At least your consistent :D

I would love to see your face when you buy this phone Thursday! ;)

Kinda OT:

Has anyone looked at the threads outside of this mongo thread? There are people in there I've never heard of, as if there is one crowd on this thread and an entirely different crowd out there with little crossover. What could that mean?

Are we just nuts for spending our time in here? Are they the normal ones? Are they nuts for not caring enough to get the latest and greatest information?

One group is nuts and I'm afraid it's us.

Passionate. Not nuts.
I've had interactions with some of the others. I like it here better. ;)

Don't ever leave me people! :p

Not everyone devs for the purpose of the public community. Ideally it would only make sense for Moto to push forward and put ICS on the Xoom because of the unlocked bootloader as a starting point for their newer tablets.

I would be more skeptical of ICS on a locked phone myself (like the ICS they are working on for the D3 which has an even tinier community).

I am actually at 408+ hours right now of up time with my Droid X. Of course it is going to run perfectly and not need a reboot right before I replace it.

Me and my friends have a contest going to see who can have the longest up time on their phones. Record so far for us is 580 hours...Anyone know how long they have gone?

Damn!

Semi-off topic, question about Verizon's online sales practices:

Does anyone know how returns/exchanges work with online purchases? I'll be a new subscriber opening up a family account with two lines, one GNex for me, and a featurephone for my mom.

I'd like to know that if for whatever reason there is something wrong with either of our phones, or if she would like to return/exchange for a different model, if I can just take them to any Verizon corporate store and swap them out, or do I NEED to ship the product back to them?

I ask this because T-Mobile has a policy where if you buy anything online and something is wrong with it, you NEED to ship it back to them, wait till they verify the contents, and then ship out a replacement. They operate the online and "walk-in" stores independently.

I have been told, more than once, that taking back to stores is fine after buying online.

I have not, in fact, done it. So, FWIW and YMMV.

This is exactly it.

I purchased my OG online and then I had an issue with the microphone so I took it to the store and they exchanged it no questions asked.

My girlfriend had an issue with her Eris (ordered it with the OG) and when we took it to the same store, they tried to troubleshoot and wouldn't outright give her a new phone.

We called *611 and they exchanged the phone, no questions asked. They said it's because ordering online vs buying in store uses a different system.

The Pats defense is definitely lousy, but I don't see Tebow putting up the points to stay competitive. Denver's defense has been playing some spectacular ball these past weeks, really allowing a shaky quarterback to stay competitive with a couple TDs per game.

Say what you want about Grossman, but he does have a good game if he shows up and plays his best. Tebow showing up and playing his best means maybe 50% completions.

I don't see that lasting into games against the Patriots or in the playoffs.

I'm headed to the Bills game on Christmas Eve so I guess I'll get to judge him for myself.

Can you name a Broncos reciever? They traded their best 3 wrs when Tebow got the starting spot. Since then his recievers have dropped atleast 3 sure TDs in the endzone.

His RB has been washed up for the past 4 seasons and half of this one, yet he looks like a star all the sudden.

Give Tebow Gronkowski, Hernandez, Branch, Ocho, and Weller and he would look much better.

3 days, but so far so good. Typical acclimation junk. Landscape "up" and "down" are backward from what I'm used to due to volume being on left instead of right. Max volume is definitely too quiet. Radio isn't (as of 4.0.1) as good as I'd like in weak environments. My TV doesn't recognize it yet...still need to look into that... etc.
Check out this thread about your TV issues. Could that be your problem?

which means this may take awhile! :(

It could. but we also know there are people internal to VZW who are not happy about this delaying the phone. If the theory has some truth to it, Verizon has until Isis is ready (read 6+ months probably) to work it out, those people pushing an immediate release will become more adamant, as 4Q sales are being more and more affected. I personally think it is already too late, but if they have enough stock to support a massive launch, then maybe they will be fine.

Yeah. I am confident devs will have it working prior to moto releasing just skeptical its already been done.

Take this with a grain of salt, but.....

I called the reseller where I got my temporary LG POS last week. He told me they definitely have them in stock, took my name & number & is holding one for me. He said to come pick it up THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really hoping this date pans out! Come on Verizon let's do this!!!!!

If the Galaxy Nexus doesn't come out this week or this month for that matter I'm not buying anything. I will not help Verizon's 4th quarter sales numbers for a phone I do not want, nor will I sign in to another 2 year contract without the Galaxy Nexus... If my OG Droid doesn't hold up then I will look online for something newer off contract to get me by.

You can't blame them...probably irritated cause they have to dust the Nexus boxes every morning. :D

Mods, we need another PSA, to warn people to exercise care when opening the Nexus boxes, as who knows what has made a home inside while it has been sitting on the shelves waiting for Verizon to release it... Because one spider bite while opening the box is one too many... (On the bright side, maybe this is why letting the CSR open the box is not such a bad thing) ;)
