I managed to get a Galaxy Nexus at Radio Shack!

Back up, my Android friend. I absolutely did get a receipt that shows I purchased this phone, although they had to hand write what I purchased and I made them initial it. I just need to come back on 12.15 to get the complete Verizon receipt.

ahhh ok. I must have missed that part. Good thing you got that then.

OK, the title is bad because RS is not selling the phone. You scammed/conned/preyed on the cs rep's stupidity to sell you something that shouldn't have been sold.

Congrats to you to fall into such a sweet opportunity.

Well.. lol, went ahead and changed the title.

I do understand the man's excitement, though. ;) My Radio Shack guy laughed and asked right away, "and that manager still has his job?" :D

Completely not true. RS is selling them, at the very least, in the NY district. As approved by a District Manager. They were completely open about selling it. Nothing below the table. It's not the only store that will sell it.

'Radio Shack is now selling the Galaxy Nexus.' Completely true.

If they were "selling them" you wouldn't have had to go to the ATM and pay in cash and would have gotten a real receipt. You found some sucker to do something they were not supposed to do. Lets hope no one loses their job over it.

Yeah, this ^.

But again, I do understand the OP's glee at getting the thing.

I would liked to have been a fly on the wall during the convo, though. My guess is that the store guy was going overboard trying to please a customer.. I wouldn't blame the customer.

I doubt anyone is getting fired....The store i called the guy sounded like the manager or owner if anything and he was ready to get me one immediately and sell it. He was aware of the release date of last week being missed as he is the one who brought it up.

I don't think the Radio Shack owners care what Verizon says, They are selling the phones for $799 compared to what Verizon will sell them at ...$649. Now is the time to sell them for small retailers like themselves, so what if they are breaking the rules a bit. Verizon is not going to take RS to court and make them go bankrupt over this.

I called another Radio Shack store after I was told $799 just to see if the guy was charging a bit more than standard(i thought BB was the only one who upped the price like that)..The second store said

"yes we have a bunch but we are not allowed to sell them until the 15th, that is the release day"

I called a few RadioShacks and I found one that was going sell me one. Went there, and found out they don't honor annual upgrades :( He showed me the phone, and everything only have my dreams crushed. Seems Verizon stores can only process annual upgrades.

I would have skipped out on the 30/50 dollar upgrade to have the Nexus a few days early!

edit: okay i get what you mean now.. I FAIL

I'm actually very offended you would say this. There was nothing underhanded about any of it. The District Manager approved the entire process. They knew exactly what they were doing. Why they would do it.....I have no idea.
