***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

We are 2 days out from a supposed release. The fact that stores still claim it's not coming this week is troubling. Unless they are just plain lying why, when we are this close, doesn't EVERY store know 100% that the release is Thursday. Maybe because it isn't. Either that, or Verizon truly is dumb and can't properly communicate with their customers OR their sellers. Either way, I'm staying at a 1% chance the phone comes out this week.

It is really odd that stores and reps have such varying stories. I could see the misinformation being an issue with a device that was rushed out, but I would think with the Nexus, after all this time, Verizon would've made some sort of cohesive place for this release. Still, I think the different stories we are getting - ranging from it is definitely coming out Thursday to knowing absolutely nothing - is due to a combination of some employees being more tight-lipped than others and some employees repeating hearsay and rumors with certainty.

This really does make me wonder why, if the phone is set to release in two days, Verizon doesn't just come out and say it to maintain the credibility of their employees. I can't see any business reason for them to allow so much misinformation to be spread about a device that is dropping in less than 48 hours. If the device is still facing problems, then I don't blame Verizon for keeping it quiet; but if it is really set for release on Thursday, at this stage I don't see the use in allowing their employees to continue to give different stories to customers.

I'm with you in that this makes me think the 15th may be still a target and not a certainty, but I'm retaining optimism that Verizon and/or their employees are bungling this release and that the 15th is a go.

This is odd. This week the CSRs are even more tight-lipped and unwilling to help than ever. To the point of being down-right rude.

If it does come out the 15th, I won't be going to any of the stores that lied to me about it. Granted, I'm getting it from my buddy so he can get the commission - but I wouldn't be going to any of the stores that intentionally gave me bad information.

Yes, I realize this would disqualify any store with a 25 mile radius for a lot of you. :p

the corporate rep i spoke with last night that helped me move my upgrade date up said the e-mail list (from the sign up page) is how they're going to announce it...she said we'll both know at the same time.

FWIW obviously...

Wow, so they are going to announce it a week after it is available? Nice.

Semi Off-Topic about Verizon:

Has anyone had any experience "porting" a number from another wireless carrier? The FAQ is a little vague on their site about it...says it takes anywhere from "3-24 hours" to complete the process. Does ordering/porting online delay shipping? Anyone know?

I'm about to do this too so I'd like to know. Peace out Sprint!

Between VZW, Best Buy, Costco, and Radio Shack, there are 10 stores in my area that will be selling the Nexus. I won't be able to slip out at work on Thursday until 11:30am. What do ya'll think the chances are of every one of those 10 stores selling out in the first 2 hours?

From what I have heard, Verizon corporate stores have good stock, so I don't think it'll be an issue. That being said, I'm making sure to get to my Verizon store at opening :)

Galaxy Nexus to go on sale this week? | Android Atlas - CNET Reviews

Even Cnet is jumping on the 15th. The writer says the Nexus has lost its appeal for him because he "wouldn't be surprised to see multiple devices announced in the next two months, already running Android 4.0 and offering more powerful hardware."

Sure it will be announced in the next two months and released on Verizon in 6 - 8 months.

They've been giving the same answers to the same questions from the same people every day for a month. I feel sorry for them. :(

That's why I find this odd. One store told me last week that it would possibly be out the 9th but that wasn't sure yet. This week, same store, the rep was extremely short with me and acted like I was a bother to even ask such a question. It's a phone I really want and I have the money to buy it and he would make money off of me...why would that be a bother to anyone? The Radio Shack is the only place that has been honest with me and helpful so that's where I'll be buying it.

I ported when I came from T-mo years ago. Painless process and a lot faster than 3-24hrs.

I THINK (operative word, here) that they would wait to port your number until after you've received the phone.

Very off topic but i live in New Jersey and i figured i would have to get SOMETHING accomplished today, so i've been meaning to go to the police station to file for a firearms ID card and to get a Pistol Permit. Now the wait begins for that to be approved.

Anyone into guns in here? Any ideas for a good first handgun? I've been shooting with my girlfriends dad and i got hooked so since then i've shot a plethera of handguns multiple .22s .45s and 9s, haven't shot any other hand guns but have also had my eye out on posibly getting an assault rifle, really liking the AR15 or M4 style rifles with pistol grips, have shot a few as well and they are damn nice. Any ideas?

OT:
My dad had prostate/bladder/ureter cancer back in April, had it all surgically removed, and he was taking blood tests every month to see if the cancer came back. It all came back negative, and they said he was cancer free.

Recently, he was hospitalized again for back pais and they found bone cancer in his hip/sternum/lumbar. The pathology report said it was the same bladder cancer he had before. Now he's doing radiation therapy to be followed up with chemo.

OT:
Oh, no! I hate hearing that! Hope he beats it second go around. Cancer research has come a long way and they can cure so much more than they could even a year ago. Did he not go through chemo after the first surgery?

I think it is more individual store managers that are the cause of this variation. Some are sticklers for the rules, some want their employees to have the best shot at commission as possible, so let them be free with the info.

So I just got back from local VZW Corportate store, talked to same one as I bought case from.

He told me it is not releasing this week. He said there is still a GAG order out and that it would be removed well before 2 days prior.

He said that they had the RAZR was on the shelves a week prior to being releases and the Rezound was on the shelves 3 days prior. They even had the XYBoard on the shelf 3 days prior with no GAG order on any of them.

Since there is still a gag order he thinks there is something corporate is holding onto it for.

He did say if it released this week, he would buy me the phone.... Thats how confident he was.

I won't say it's definitely coming on Thursday (because we've all been down that road before) but when 99/100 reps are telling us Thursday and 1 says "No way" I'm going to trust the majority consensus and say this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
