Corporate store in downtown Boston is still steadfastly denying and saying no official date. Any other Boston people having any luck?

Hmm, I see the screen that you're bringing up, but unfortunately it doesn't mention the 3G to 4G credit that the VZW rep said she'd add yesterday to my account. Hope it works on Thursday.

I haven't tried, but it sounds like you saved me the trouble.

Chiming in from Northern VA. Texted with my sales guy at the local corporate store. He says they have about 30 devices in stock, but they are locked up in the back. Says that he's been reading about a Thursday release on the web, but hasn't heard anything about it at this particular store. :( Man I hope Thursday is the day...

if he checks back again he might actually see your post referencing him and not realize he's reading about himself....

Twilight Zone material right there.

So I'm reading up in preparation to switch to the android ecosystem with my nexus, whenever it launches. FNG question pops up!

There are multiple app stores apparently. :) Are they mutually exclusive? Do I have to choose Amazon's vs. Google's or something like that? Or can you have any apps, regardless of their provenance, loaded simultaneously?

Nope, you can have them both - I do. And you can have the apps loaded simultaneously as well. :D

Having multiple app stores seems to be a profoundly inefficient approach. Talk about duplication of effort in removing malware, in devs posting apps to multiple markets for the same devices, etc.

I think that market competition between them will help to keep app prices down, though. Good for us new nexus users, but bad for developers trying to earn their keep. :|

I honestly love all this "scheduling appointments" stuff.

Yeah, I just called McDonalds, and scheduled an appointment for Thursday. They said my McMuffin will be ready and waiting for me!

Yeah, they're putting it under the counter today, with a post-it and your name. Enjoy! :D

Here's my thoughts on Thursday and why we're probably ok.

It seems like all the "confirmed for the 15th" are coming from NON-Corporate stores. I think there have been a couple from corporate stores, but it seems like the majority are resellers of some kind (be it 3rd part, RS, BB, etc).

It sounds like an email was sent out to these resellers indicating the 15th date. Whether it is firm or just tentative is anyone's guess until we see a screen shot of it. But it sure looks like Verizon is intending to release on the 15th.

So, why are the corporate stores playing dumb? It seems very credible that they received a gag order. How much district managers or store managers are pushing their CSRs to keep their mouth shut would account for some stores denying stock or any release information, while others are hinting at Thursday and still others are flat out indicating the 15th.

So I think the 15th is the new INTERNAL target, and VZW has informed their resellers, but it is still subject to change (as was the 9th). So I don't think we'll know for sure until the morning of the 15th when reports either come in indicating people on the east coast were successful or that they could not yet buy it.

I fully expect to NOT hear anything reliable until the VZW corporate stores open on the 15th. I'm cautiously optimistic for the 15th, but I'm still not going to hold my breath.

Well said.

Called a local corp store. The lady said: "We have not received the phone, accessories or a release date. I would tell you if we had as we have a LOT of customers asking about it and I've had to turn all of them away."

I just have a hard time believing this is the case two days before they launch a phone. I'm trying hard to believe the Thursday people are right but after last week I'm not confident in Thursday at all at this point.

Well my wife's store received their GNs today, she didn't think they would be delivered until tomorrow, and the email she received was from her companies purchasing director who indicated that they were given word that the phone was being released on the 15th. Long story short she is bringing one home tomorrow after work and is going to activate it when she gets to work on Thursday morning so I can avoid a trip to the store. That is as long as there isn't a further delay.

OK my CSR from a corporate Verizon store just called me and said Thursday is the day. He said they had got word from Verizon earlier today. He said there is still the possibility they could pull it again like they did last week but as of now plan on coming in Thursday. He also said they got a second shipment of them in and now have 40 in stock. Last Tuesday when I talked to him they had 20.

She's stealing one?

I wish all the corporate stores were so open with this information.

If you have to be told "maybe" when it comes to a leak then you should probably turn in your keyboard.

No, a leak implies someone in an official stance has shed light on an otherwise dark situation. The only "leak" we've had is people who have been completely wrong every single time. In fairness, it should say "Educated guess, but not really-we're just throwing dates out: THURSDAY'S THE DAY, BABY!"

I haven't heard from my Corporate Store CSR at all since I last texted him.

I asked if 12/15 was a go for launch?

He texted back.

Just checked my email and they finally confirmed the release date for 12/15. Just let me know when you're coming... I'm off but I'll stop by for an appointment.

I called him as I was reading that and were scheduled for 9:00 AM on Thursday.

------

Sidenote he wouldn't bump up my NE2 discount from 12/29. Is there anyway for me to call a CSR 611 and have them do it? What do you do when you want to talk to a customer loyalty rep???

Leak & Nexus = not official until Verizon has the phone up on their website.
