***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Well unfortunately, "heavy use" is subjective. "heavy use" to one person may not be the same for another. And we don't have all the specifics of the usage patterns for both users, so it's really like comparing apples and oranges. :(

My usage was simple: reading this thread via the app. If you look closely at the graph, you can see how the slope plateaued (sp) every time the screen was turned off. And, yes, the signal was marginal. I don't think this kind of result will be anywhere close to typical.

So if I am able to order the nexus online at Verizon.com or go to a Verizon corporate retail store and buy the phone but there is no official Verizon announment of an official release date then how does that equate into your theory that nothing is official until Verizon announces the phone directly?

I put this idea at a 50% chance of how this is going to play out on Thursday.

I'm not saying the phone can't/won't be released without an official VZW confirmation, but I am saying without it it's nothing but guesswork, most of it bad, very bad.

Wow, 3 hours... crazy. I understand everyone's concerns, though IIRC cggorman's GNex is still on version 4.0.1, right? I think we know that subsequent updates like 4.0.3 and 4.1 are primarily concerned with updates to the LTE radio and battery life, so hopefully that will improve matters significantly.

Now, if you all don't mind, I need some help from our more technically inclined members - my girlfriend's father wants an awesome new TV for his man cave for the holidays. He'd like 45 inches or more, HD but not plasma. I know we were just discussing good brands and models earlier, so hopefully someone can help out. They're splitting the cost of the TV between several of them, but would still like to keep the cost reasonable. Can anyone make some suggestions? :) Thanks in advance.

My advice would be to check out AVS Forum the display device section will have reviews for most current led hd TVs.

I was hoping you all could weigh in on this question I have with your own facts/opinions.

I've see a lot of back and forth on the camera and to me as long as it is as good as my OG Droid I will be satisfied. However, the examples of the video have had this crazy bad stabilization/wavy affect whatever you may blame it on. I was wondering, is this type of thing capable of being (and most likely to be) remedied by an OTA update issued from Google? Have updates been given to previous phones camera/video quality with noticeable improvements?

Thank you

Galaxy Nexus support in AOSP - Android Building | Google Groups

Looks like those Samsung build concerns from earlier today only apply to the GSM versions, as Verizon's version will run a mysid build, which is officially from Google AOSP. This means updates come directly from Google.

Good info, but sadly without seeing the Verizon build prop, I cant say Im sold. The LTE model might be another variant of mysid, just like most GSM models are variants as well.

For those lazy to click the link, this is an update to the Engadget article posted earlier

I think this is just proof that they will delay theNexus and everybody with appointments on Thursday will be sold a white Razr instead. Oh how they have you guys fooled. Lol. :p

This is a little off topic but my original Droid took a crap on me, and I am without a phone until the Nexus comes out.. :(

My backup is a non-smart phone. If I activate this phone will it screw anything up with my plan or anything since it is not a data phone?

Thanks

If you're currently on unlimited data, you run the risk of not being able to get it back if you activate a dumbphone on that line. There have been reports that you SHOULD be able to get unlimited data back if you re-activate a smartphone within 14 days, but it would be best to tread VERY lightly and get a CS rep to mark this on your account before going through with anything.

Bought that TV over at Costco for 2599 last week. Great buy, definitely recommend it. The internet capabilities are not that great, (Netflix is probably the only good one) But I plan on connecting a Google TV to it sooner or later.

I just got my Nexus reserved! For all you Nexicans in the 'Burgh, the Cranberry Township RadioShack has a dozen or so in stock, and only a few are spoken for. I called to see if I could just get some info on release date and/or any rumors they had heard and a VERY cool girl offered to put my name on one. I was almost speechless! She wouldn't confirm exactly when it came out, but told me she'd call me the night before and then if she were working, she'd personally see me the next day at 9AM. While a date was never mentioned, it seemed as tho she knew when it would come out.

If you're from Pittsburgh and want the phone # to the store, PM me and I'll hook you up. They are open until 10 or 11 tonight so now would be the time to call. I can't tell you what a relief it is to have one waiting for me! It takes so much of the anxiety of wondering when it will be released away. Just knowing that whenever the day finally comes that I have one set aside for me, is the best feeling in the world! I know I'm an uber-geek, but this has consumed my life for the past month+. Good luck to the rest of you! I suggest calling as many places as you can and trying to get at least one store to set one aside. Even if you don't end up needing it, it can't hurt to have it there and like I said it takes away so much frustration!
