it still amazes me that after 82800+ posts, people still come out of lurking saying "been here since page 50 and you guys are awesome". just goes to show how awesome this place is and how well moderated it is that people can stomach lurking for 75000 posts and not leave us yet :D

Hasn't been quite that long for me, but those are exactly the reasons I've been lurking for this long. A great group, respectful to young and old, novice and experience, patience for helping others.

So people seem to like to share their stories of fun sales reps at stores, so here's my story from my earlier trip to Radio Shack. This is more for the lols from the salesgirl.

I went in to RadioShack today to buy some coaxial cable connectors. The salesgirl asked me

Girl: "So, just out of curiosity *tee-hee* are you an iPhone user?"

Me: "Nope, I use Android."

Girl: "Oh, ok. Well, if you're interested, the iPhone 4S is on sale today!"

Me: "No, I'm waiting for the Galaxy Nexus."

Girl: "Oh. Well, why don't you just get a Droid X2? It's only a dollar today!"

Me: "...because the Droid X2 is a year old and sucks in comparison to the Galaxy Nexus."

Girl: "What about a Droid X3?"

Me: "...I don't think that's released yet. But, hey, do you happen to have a Galaxy Nexus that I could see?"

Girl: "Uhhh, I don't know. Rick! Do we have the Galaxy Nexus?"

Rick: "Yeah, but we can't sell it yet."

Me: "Thursday?"

Rick: "Yep."

Thank you for this but isn't the superboot just a script for the manual method? I took a look at the .bat file and it looks like all it does is just run the fastboot command booting the unsecure boot image. But the manual method requires you to this this anyways?

Not sure why that's an issue.

Yeah it is a batch file. I dont know why it put the phone into a bootloop, I dont see how it could have been a result of user error seeing as it was just a matter of running the file as an admin but I wont rule my dumb ass out. :D I think its good that everyone does it the manual way to learn anywho. Just be aware that using that batch put my gnex in a bootloop which was fixed by clearing the cache and formatting user data. I hope it wont take more than that to fix for others.

The owner (Rob) and Admin (Phases) have a very specific vision for this forum. They want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable asking questions so that anyone no matter what their skill level with tech can get and/or give help. The moderation team was given the task of making sure that is what happens and the guides are there to offer even further assistance as well as support to this vision.

It honestly makes me proud to be a part of the team when people notice how different this forum is. So, thank you for noticing.

While we appreciate some new root information, we don't want something to get lost in this thread and not have it where it needs to be. So let's keep the root talk in the root forum.

Thanks

Understandable, however if I can save some people from bricking their brand new $700 phones on launch day by telling them about my experience with the superboot batch file, then I think its relevant.
