***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

'Twas the night before Nexmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The Nexicans were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Ice Cream Sandwich danced in their heads...

Night everyone! Tomorrow's going to be a great day. :)

Are you kidding me? I'm stirring like CRAZY!
Oh, and I'm not going to sleep for another hour probably! lol

So I just got back from local VZW Corportate store, talked to same one as I bought case from.

He told me it is not releasing this week. He said there is still a GAG order out and that it would be removed well before 2 days prior.

He said that they had the RAZR was on the shelves a week prior to being releases and the Rezound was on the shelves 3 days prior. They even had the XYBoard on the shelf 3 days prior with no GAG order on any of them.

Since there is still a gag order he thinks there is something corporate is holding onto it for.

He did say if it released this week, he would buy me the phone.... Thats how confident he was.

Found it :D

Hey question about LetsTalk.... I don't see double data on there. When I went to add the rezound to do a test run it only gave me the option of 2GB for $30 or 4GB w/ MHS for $50

Can you not do double data on LetsTalk? I ask primarily because I'm trying to make excuses for myself for going to the store tomorrow to get it immediately. Double data is a necessity, so if I can't get it from them I HAVE to go to the store. :)

I don't see the ad on the VZW site either anymore. Did they end it before putting out the Nexus?

Thanks to everyone for all the fun and informative posts. This thread/forum is what all bulletin boards should strive for. I know there are other ones (not necessarily phone related) that I hesitate posting on for fear of what snarky (is that a word?) reply might be received. I just got off phone hoping to move my upgrade from 12/29 to tomorrow so I could get my $50 loyalty but was told no way (eh, whats a couple hundred bucks a month for 10 years worth to a loyal customer? not $50 I guess) anyway wanted to say thanks and bye before thread is closed and I am looking forward to everyones impressions of the phone over the next few weeks before I can get one.

Cheers!
#cantwaitforStevenssignoff
Snarky is definitely a word. Further it describes most tech forums excluding this one. You zero'd in on what makes this place special. Thanks for being part of it!
If this is truly it, I bid you guys and gals a fond farewell. I'm sure I'll see youse on the forums in the future, but this thread has been quite amazing. Here's to hoping a Galaxy Nexus is in my future! I raise my glass of premium beer to you all!
I'll drink to that *raises glass of Yuengling Premium lager in return*
Sleep aids are kicking in.
7:30am wake up.
8:00am walk out the door.
30min car ride to Verizon store (add 10min if there's traffic)
9:00am Get my nexus
10min car ride to University
10:15am Final exam for INFO & TECH FOR BUSINESS (easiest class ever)

There my schedule for tomorrow. I'll have to fit some time in when I'm playing with my nexus to search for a new thread to stalk for the next few months or so.
Sounds about right!
Well gang... I am sleep deprived from waiting for this phone and "hanging out with you fine folks", so, I am off to bed. To make matters worse, I am beyond slammed at work, so, I don't know if I'll make it on in the morning or not.

My plan is to use my lunch break to sneak out to a verizon store and see if they have the phone, will do my corp discount (or waive activation fee), and get my hands on my sexy nexi by 1:00 p.m. If that's a no-go, I'll be ordering online as soon as I return to the office from said store visit.

So, with all of that said, there is a 73% chance that I will not make it back before the lock-down. I wanted to say thanks to everyone who has answered questions, made me laugh, shared in the anger and let downs, and rejoiced when the date was announced... And then November 17th came and went, and we did it all again... and again... and again.

I have enjoyed the OT football, dexter, car, and puppy discussions. As I am new to android, I am certain that you will all be helping me along the way. I'll be watching closely tomorrow as people report about unlocking the bootloader in their new toy, pondering whether I should dip my toe in that water or not.

I was there when the iPhone launched. It was a great day for smart-phones in general. Even then though, while I was paying astronomical apple taxes, I didn't know what the phone would mean to me. I didn't know how big of a part of life a smart phone would be. I'm addicted to my phone... and I don't make many calls.

With that said, I am very happy to have found other addicts. People who crave technology, want to be at the forefront for new things, and don't mind slipping their phone into a zip-lock bag and sharing a bubble bath with the one you love (wait...err... I've said too much)... right... so... umm... well, this is embarrassing.

Sleep well tonight Nexans. Because tomorrow... We take over the WORLD.
*Dr Evil laugh*
Ok well here's my farewell post; will continue posting until the final moment I am able to before Steven closes this thread, but... here it goes:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it looks like this is it. We've come this far and we've finally reached our destination after months and months of waiting, speculating, and discussing. Rumors flew this way and that, the occasional flame war was shot down by Steven's frequent PSAs, but nonetheless it has been an interesting ride. Now that I look back on this, I'm so honored to have participated in such a sophisticated thread with such sophisticated people. Being one of the only true technology nerds in my school, I don't really have anyone to talk to about this kind of stuff, but you guys are so understanding! Never before have I felt so connected to random people on the internet through a common interest.

So, now that all is said and done, I'd just like to thank the moderators who took part in making this thread civil (for the most part), well-rounded, and well-mannered. EarlyMon took care of most of the argument-cleaning and infractions, while Steven58 warned us to keep things under control underneath his ever-recurring lines and to "try not to kill each other" night after night. Of course, Rob and Phases made the occasional entrance (although I barely remember it) as well.

But I also need to thank those non-moderators who have played just as important of a role in keeping the thread fun and informative; to BabyBlue for her nightly avatars and cracking jokes to keep us entertained, and to others who fueled a mostly unintrusive and tangential OT discussion, thank you. To any of those who shared any sort of confirmation of information from reps, including first time posters, Han's sister, and Steven's source, thank you. This thread simply would not have been what it was if it weren't for the collaborative culmination of all these independent sources of information.

Lastly, (and this may come as a shocker to a lot of you), I think Google, Samsung, and even Verizon deserve a round of applause. I've never seen anywhere near this much hype for a phone (not even for iPhones) and it truly is a feat of engineering and software development to make such a glorious device that we've been lusting over for oh so long. Throughout the course of our journey, we've gotten upset, even downright infuriated with Verizon for botching the release of this flagship Android beast, but in the end we have to give props to them for bringing us the best smartphone on the market on the best network in the U.S. I'm sure we'll all forget about ever being mad at Verizon once we finally have the phones in our hands :D

So, all that said, I conclude this post with one universal "thanks" to all involved in the thread. It's been such a fun ride and I could never stand being away from the thread for any significant amount of time, knowing it would be buzzing away and zooming along. But now that it's all over, I'll definitely feel a void in my daily routine ;)

This is farewell, but not goodbye! I hope to continue our obsession in the sub-forum.
-scottg96
:) :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you Scott, for the painstaking (and accurate) retelling of what has happened here over the last few months. More importantly, thanks for never losing your Scoptimism, even when we did!
Not sure why we are all saying our goodbye's tonight but . . .

When I came in I was 50/50 on the fence between the Rezound and the Gnex. If I was leaning any way it was towards the Rezound since I loved my Dinc so much. The more I researched, the more I knew the Gnex was for me.

It doesn't seem like it's been a little more than 2 months since I started contributing here, but that's how time passes when it's two weeks at a time. Watching the Hong Kong announcement of the Gnex via LIVE WEBCAST was exciting!
Ice Cream Sandwich / Galaxy Nexus Unveiling - YouTube

But alas, Steve Jobs died and it's US announcement seemed to be pushed back.. We complained quietly as not to be to disrespectful of the dead regardless of how we felt about him. They said:

We grew hopeful that not long after that we would hear of the release of our Nexus, but we were wrong. We grew FURIOUS when we found out that the "Exclusive" tag was removed from the Verizon sign up page and even more angry when we found out that Europe would get it before we did here in the US. Europe wasn't alone, it seemed that EVERYONE but the US was getting it the phone.

We were hopeful for rumors of November the 17th only to find out that was the UK's date BUT November 21st was very likely. It was wrong again.

We asked Rob draft a letter for us but not in the name of Android Forums and NOTHING changed. Now here we sit on the eve of what we have aspired for. Our Galaxy Nexus will be in our hands this time tomorrow. Will you find completeness in it? I doubt it, but at least we feel we've accomplished something.

Han and I both got our hands smacked for things we didn't totally agree with, asked to be banned and threw a fit and said we were leaving only to be brought back by kind words, support and our desire to contribute to this forum for the Galaxy Nexus.

Thanks to Steven (and your source), Han (and your sis), OTD, Captian Ron, Baby Blues (even though I think your avatars are inappropriate), Nj02vette, Chief, etc. etc. etc. You all helped to drive excitement that proved to be an EPIC WIN in the end. I look forward to seeing you all in the "All things root" section soon.
Cincy, this thread seems to have special powers, thats all I got. It was the will of the thread that pushed you to the G-Nex!!
No hide tags this time.... Buh Bye, sniffles....

Awesome, LOLOLOLO!!!!

Goodnight everyone.

I will miss checking this thread before bed every night.

I will be at the retail store down the street at 10AM.

Owner is great there. I would even call him a good friend for being truthful to me about this whole mess.

Love you guys and thanks for everything. Cya tomorrow before we lock it up and throw away the key forever.
G'night! And see you in the next thread!
goodnight to all, i feel like we've grown like a family, great friends have been made here. i thank everyone for making this thread what it has become. thanks to all of the mods, the op,and everyone else on here.
I love my new Nexus family too, and you are a part of it!

i've not been an extremely active poster, but I wanted to say my farewell as well.

I was part of the "not so epic" Droid X thread... ( and part of the incredible... but I jumped ship to the DX quickly) I have felt so many emotions as part of this thread that is has been almost numbing at times!

Tried to contribute tidbits when I could... nothing to earth shattering... but I must admit.. it has been GREAT FUN to blow the mind of my CSR rep when I tell him something before he knows it himself.. and he "calls" himself a Nexie fan. (obviously never found this forum) I wouldn't have been able to have that much fun without you guys filling me in. I hope the outflowing of knowledge continues as we explore our devices and take things to the next level. I am going to need some hand holding through the rooting process. Hope you guys are there to help me!
We appreciate your inciteful posts! Thanks for contributing!

Ok. Seriously, starting to get really excited now! Just watched my first unboxing, I'd been holding out till now. So excited!
Even though I'm going to miss you all so much - Everyone who has PM'd be lately with all the puppy support will be getting info to add me to G+ circles for sure :)
Edit: Oh and if anyone else would like to add me on G+ just send me a PM :)
Yay!! I should totally do that too.

I have been here just about from the beginning of this EPIC thread.
There are two things that I would like to say;

1. Thanks for all the new friends.
2. Finally this thread can be closed.(12-15-11 @ 12:30est)
Wow, I can't even begin to imagine how that must feel. I've only been here since November. (Though, I have been anticipating info on the phone since around May).... Its been fun reading your contributions!:)
Well, I guess it is that time. Everyone else is sending out their well wishes so I better do the same. After all, in just a few hours I'll probably be so occupied between work and my shiny new phone, that I wont be able to give you all a proper thank you. So THANK YOU! and CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!

This really has been the most friendly, informative and overall good-times thread I have ever been a part of. Even at those times when we all were at our lowest, we enjoyed ourselves. And with the help of our fantastic Mods and Guides we showed how even in the most tense of times in forums likes these, the interwebs can be a genuine place to gather in a community that respects each other in a responsible way.

I really do hope to see many of you floating around the other SGN threads. If you really think about it, though this part of the journey is over, we're really only getting started ;)

Again best wishes, happy holidays, and thank you for this very new and very fond memory.

Sincerely,
Tyler
Happy Holidays to you too!
Been a great ride everyone! For over a month straight this would be the site I came to for all of my updates on the Galaxy Nexus.

Today marks the last day I will us my LG eNVY Touch and jump onto the ship of smartphone with the GN! I look forward to staying with this site as everyone seems very knowledgeable.

I hope everyone enjoys their new phone tomorrow! :)
I was almost there myself, jumped from a voyager to a Droid one (purchased from ebay). This was when the incredible HD was going to come out last year and I didn't want to use my upgrade...lol. I still have that upgrade and thankfully, tomorrow, it will be applied to the G-Nex!!
This isn’t my last post because I do want to congratulate people as the phone orders and pictures of happy people holding their own Holy Grail hit the thread, but I guess I will say my “See you later” before I drink too much Chimay tonight.

This thread has been the emotional roller coaster ride through hell. I remember bidding off a great Hong Kong/Bangkok trip so I’d be in the United States because we were 100% certain the Nexus was going to drop on Nov 17th. Silly wabbit.

I’ve learned a lot, cussed a lot and most importantly laughed a lot throughout all the ups and downs. I mentioned in an earlier post that in some ways our bonding was very similar to what happens to captives in a hostage situation. Verizon was keeping us hostage and we had to rely on each other for support. You all have been a great support group. (Albeit you all are LOUSY enabling sponsors for a Nexaholic!)

Would I have liked to have received the GNex back in November? Of course! But at the same time I’ve enjoyed the extra days of our journey together. Many, many thanks to the mods who kept this a friendly, comfortable place and also to the top posters who kept us entertained. I enjoyed the videos, the jokes, the avatars, the web hacking and the rumors.

See you on the other side my friends when we all have our treasure!
Being the rough and tumble captain you are, we expect nothing less! ;)
Well gang, it appears we've reached the end. Hopefully tomorrow will involve nexus getting and rooting so i dont want to miss saying farewell to the most epic speculation thread in the history of the interweb. I am typing this from my Droid incredible too just because she deserves the honor.

Its come to my attention that there are a lot of very cool individuals on this forum, many of whom I've known for some time and many I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time in this thread. I didn't think i would feel an ounce of sadness when we reached the end but I must admit, I am going to miss the comraderie that always seems to accompany the pre-release threads. A common tie that bonds us together for a time as we experience the same range of emotions both up and down. So many personalities intermingling is a neat thing to experience. I made one slip up along the way and would like to thank Early for some extra patience on that occsasion, nuff said there. And a huge thanks to OTD, Early and Steven for pulling off what I consider to be an award winning mod job that may never be matched. See you all at the next superthread if not before.
Iowabowtech
You, too!
Thanks!

To Google for being Awesome!
To Verizon (cough cough) for hosting a Nexus this time!
To Android Forums for providing this venue!
To Steven58 for starting and CEOing this epic thread!
To All the thread managers for snapping the whip!
To All the thread Stars for your major contributions!
To All the thread participants for participating!
To All the thread lurkers for ...... lurking!
To Steve Jobs and Apple iPhone for kicking the Smart Phone business in the ass several years ago and along the way!

To everyone I have forgotten!

Thanks!

And here's hoping that Sammy got it RIGHT this time!

See Ya'll Around!

Philip
Ha ha, he he!!:D
Congratulations Nexicans!

Wow it feels weird tonight. After many months of traveling this journey with y'all, speculating, comparing, joking around, bickering, googling, wikipediaing, youtubing, bragging, teasing, getting teased... this is... The End?!

What's weirder for me is that after the whole Bionic -> SGS2 -> Function -> Stratosphere -> Prime -> Nexus quest, I ended up bailing at the last minute for an irresistible (for me) Black Friday deal on another phone. How anti-climactic was that?

THANK YOU to the mods, who've really done a bang-up job here keeping us more or less on track with good humor. Steven, you deserve all of the accolades, just stop apologizing when it's really someone else being the jerk. ;) OTD, keep up the spirit (hundreds of years old though it may be.) And Early, thanks for being a class act. Not too many people could be so overtrained & overqualified for your modding role while also being patient w/newbies and always eager to discover and explain the new tech. (IMHO you shoulda gotten a freebie Nexus too. Sigh.)

I'm actually really happy w/my fast-running Rezound with its sharp-as-hell screen, and I've had fun making it jump through some hoops already. And yet... ah that Nexus and its bloat-free ICS and promises of intriguing NFC possibilities to come. Good luck folks, you are going to love love love your new phones!

Looking forward to reading the happy new owner reviews, and I'll catch you here in the forums. It's almost midnight here on the east coast: For those ordering online, get out your credit cards now!

- BlueBiker

PS: When Rezound finally gets ICS, it'll be the better phone for sure. :p
BlueBiker, you are truly, the other BB, a real stand up character and fun and inciteful too!
Longest multi-quote ever? I think so :p
Sorry BabyBlues. XD
Just wanted to thank the mods and everyone else for keeping this thread respectful and clean. It made the whole experience of waiting much less agonizing and at times easier to endure Verizon's frustrating releases. To finally see a Nexus on Verizon is awesome and I can't wait to finally have it in my hands. Now I can finally be productive at work.

Through all the ups and downs, it was certainly an experience best shared with good company.

Hope you all enjoy your Nexi, I certainly will.

Just a little over an hour to go.
12:30PM!!! ;) Keep it cool!
Friends,

This will be my final good night post, where I tuck everyone in before bedtime. Wow. Sad. Sad and happy. :( :)

What a ride, huh? I'll see you in the morning. Tonight I don't stay up late, so I can get to the store first things. So.. gnite!!

and.....

TRY NOT TO KILL EACH OTHER!!!!!! :)
See ya in a few, Good Steven!
Goodnight ladies and gents. Here's to an epic thread where not enough thanks can be given. Hope to see you all in the forums and G+.
definitely!
We have one! It's in the lounge.. it's called something like the nexus lounge. :)

Yes, if your credit is good you surely can.

Gnite for realz!
Good Nite.

Do you really not approve of a virtual wedding cerimony??:p

Are you kidding me? I'm stirring like CRAZY!
Oh, and I'm not going to sleep for another hour probably! lol

When I was your age my parents had to drug me with benadryl the night before christmas

Now my parents aren't around to drug me, and all I have is SoCo and Cazadores (best tequila ever!) but I have to drive to the store in a few hours and I'd rather not be hung over for Nexmas...:(

So basically I'll just be up "stirring" all night!

P.S. Don't drink til you're 21. Screws up your neurons!
