Thought you would all like to know in case you may be interested in purchasing the Motorola Lapdock 500 Pro. It is now in stock on Verizon's website for $299.99. I called them yesterday to order it over the phone and they charged me $249.97. Not sure why the discount but I'm not complaining:). It is being delivered tomorrow!

I will reply back once I have a chance to play with it for a while and let everyone know my opinion.

I got the Atrix lapdock for $65 and appears to have the same features. Caveat being a need to slightly mod the connector dock.

Let us know how it performs :) I like the lapdock since bigger display, extra battery and desktop browser. Plus USB connectors for thumbdrives and mice.

Not to mention no need to tether, since uses 3G and 4G fine from phone :)

The lapdock 500 also includes a SD card slot for added memory, an ethernet port for direct connection to the internet as well as a front facing camera for video chat...none of which any other lapdock currently offers. Not to mention the bigger display as well of over 14". some fairly significant differences if you ask me. all without any modification needed. Thats not to say though that the other Lapdocks aren't sufficient for most. I'm just saying that there are some pretty noticeable enhancements on the Lapdock 500 Pro.

I do not have onecw8th wifi tethering. Do not want to pay for tethering and the alternate methods are being choked out for Android.

I now have a full desktop browser function with Firefox I can and plugins to, larger display, port opions and using 3g/4g, so have the function anywhere.

My perspective may be skewed due to paying $65, but I can see it making sense for up to $250, depending if will use a lot.

Can you provide any feedback? how is it made (quality wise)? thoughts? How does it work? etc......

The quality is decent, at ffirst glance anyway.

Except for the screen which isn't as crisp as a good laptop screen. Perhaps there are adjustments I am not yet aware of to help this.

It is a huge convenience to have a screen large enough for client meetings along with whatever else you do. Also, video on this is obviously multiple times the experience of watching on a small phone display.

Another great feature is you don't need a wifi tether which VZW wants you to pay extra for.

This is due to HDMI being used, rather than a digital input. No adjustments can offset this very well.

No need to wait for me, since pics and process posted already up at the Photon and Razr forums at XDA (I am nowhere near my Lapdock).

I have not modded for it to dock standing up, since think that is inviting a break of the connectors or Razr housing. My option was releasing the cables and leave loose, but the cables seem are not designed like an external cable, so might not be as tough. I am looking for short extention cables to use instead and then leave as is (out of box).

The build is far better than the $200 version desgined for the Razr, plus thinner. Better than expected and worth $65 without doubt. Sleek looking and solid.

This post is spot on. I will add that since getting the lapdock I haven't touched my tablet. It is a way better experience than I thought it was going to be. For those that are interested to try the lap dock but don't want to invest too much money, ATT has them online for $75. They are refurbished but still well worth it.

My refurb looks brand new. Not a scratch or smudge and boxed up like new.

I received my new Lapdock 500 Pro today and let me tell you, it is great!! Works great, looks great, build quality is great! I dont have anything bad to say about this accessory other than, if you want a Lapdock, you cant go wrong with the Lapdock 500 Pro! I think that the build quility of the 500 is comparable to that of the original lapdock and definetly better than the Lapdock 100......yes I have owned then both but returned them in anticipation of the 500 and I am glad I did! Yes it is thicker than the original lapdock but there are a bunch more features packed into this baby! And for $249.99, I think I made a great decision and buy!

The Lapdock 500 Pro has a 14" screen and a couple other nice features not found on the 10" lapdock and that is why I ordered it back in October.

It finally arrived today.

I question the integrity of this poster. The Lapdock 500 wasn't even announced until November 10th and Verizon didn't get it in stock until the day before this posting. NO one else has it in stock yet. Not even Motorola. Plus his replies are vague at best and just mimics what others have "eluded to" (unfactual comments) in their posts since they haven't actually tried out the Lpadock 500. Most are guessing what the quality of the Lapdock screen and overall build quality are like based on prior models. all not true. The Lapdock 500 is far superior in every way that I can tell. Screen quality is excellent and just as good as most laptops and the build quality is great also!

Just saying.....if it smells like a

The Atrix Lapdock was way "over priced" which is why when the Bionic Lapdock (which was the exact same lapdock as the Atrix' with just a different holder on the back and a slightly different plug configuration) came out it was priced at $299.99. I think the Atrix' Lapdock was over priced primarilty due to AT&T price gouging as much as anything. I do agree though......since I have personally had all three lapdocks, that in order of quaility and overall useabiltity I would rank the Lapdock 500 1st (best) and then the original Lapdock 2nd and then the Lapdock 100 3rd (last). I also believe that the prices have all dropped a bit on all Lapdocks because they have "learned" what people are willing to spend on these devices and what their limits are. They got a lot of slack for selling the original Atrix Lapdock at the price they sold it for. The latest price drop on the Atrix lapdock is an obvious attempt to get rid of inventory and to liquidate the item. Good for anyone who grabbed one of these at $65.00 because it is a nice Lapdock. Enjoy! At that price, how can you go wrong?

Google search, since a place besides Att was offering it for the $75 price.

The 500 is nice, but saving the bucks for beer and other things took priority :)

Got mine from All4cellular.com

I can't find it anywhere for under $130.

I'm totally with you on priorities - I'm not really in the market for a lapdock right now, but for $75 I'd HAVE to get it :) So I'm probably going to wait and go for the lapdock 500 in a month or so.

In case anyone picks the Lapdock 500 up and wants a nice slip case for it, the 15" InCase sold at Best Buy is a really nice fit! Fits near perfectly both width and length ways. I looked at many other cases in various stores and the Incase is by far the best fit of all of them. It also doesnt add a lot of bulk like many other cases do.

He got it at All4cellular but they are out of stock. I got mine from ATT for $50 when the had the one day sale and they were selling refurbs for $75 but are also out of stock. If you check your local ATT store they may have some new ones in stock and were selling them for $100 which is still well worth it.

What is your problem??? questioning my integrity???

First, I never read anyone elses posting about what they guessed it was like.

On October 27th Verizon began taking orders at 8 am eastern time for the Droid Razr and the Lapdock 500. Price was $299 each. I ordered both 4 hours 7 minutes in at 12:07 pm. On November 7th, I got a call from Verizon and they claimed they were out of lapdock 500's and wanted permission to cancel my order and re-order just the Razr so they could ship it to me on the release date of the 10th. I declined and instructed them to leave my order as it stood from day 1 (Oct 27th, 12:07 pm). I told them I did not want the new phone without the lapdock500 to go with it and asked how long would I be waiting. He said about a week. It turned out to be just about a month with me calling VZW at least once a week looking for a favorable update. VZW claimed they had run out of them and I said that didn't seem possible they would have run out just 4 hours into the first day of ordering but they stuck with that story until I called Motorola and learned that no one anywhere had received any lapdock 500's to sell or deliver and that it had not yet been released and that it was only submitted to the FCC for their testing and approval on the 15th of November. The day before they appeared in the stores VZW sent me an email saying my order had been shipped overnight. It arrived at my home the next morning before most of the Verizon stores were open for business. I have new laptops in my household and what I said about the screen quality is spot on and the people at the Verizon store agreed when I showed it to them. It is a very good quality and well constructed piece of hardware and an extemely useful one as well. The screen lacks the crispness I have been spoiled with by other recent purchases but that is the only issue there is and it doesn't get in the way of gettin anything done.

There.. is that a little less, as you say, "vague" ??

Please, if you have any questions for me, just ask me but don't start out by questioning my integrity and speculating on where you think my info comes from.
