***Official G-Nex first impressions thread*** Love it? Hate it?

For a digital clock, just download senseclock, beautiful widgets or fancy widgets. All of those have sweet clocks.

Also another thing I dislike is the notification light taking FOREVER to flash...I sit there and wait...and wait...and wait for it to flash...Flash more frequently please!

If you use GoSMS you can speed up the blink rate for texts... Now if I could just do that for gmail.

If the Incredible weighs 130 grams and this 150 grams then why does it feel like it weighs half of my phone? I just cannot get over how cheap this thing feels.

On the contrary I feel like this is a breath of fresh air. I adored my Inc and when I gave it to my wife to upgrade to the TB I felt like yeah, this bolt feels really solid... Then I started feeling like it was a brick in my hand and I could maim a small child with it if need be.

This phone feels so much more like my Inc and I'm in love with that idea. Like being reunited with an old friend who got hotter as they got older.

It's probably because the weight is displaced over a larger surface area. A tennis ball weighs more than a golf ball but the golf ball feels heavier because it's more concentrated on a smaller area.

Thanks for the details--boldface added by me...EVERYONE with an Android Phone should do this after leaving a VZW store. I've had them sneak task killers onto the phone, etc., even though the phone appeared factory fresh. It's a variable none of us need to deal with...best time to do it is right as you walk out!

The First thing the Verizon rep ask you to do is put your password in for Google. And I tell them no thanks I'll do it myself, and the rep says are you sure, are you sure you know how to do it. Lol I tell them, I think I can handle it. I knew more about the phone today then all the reps at the store I went to.

So far so good.

Very fast and smooth. Sound seems fine. The speaker I think is actually louder than my old iPhone 3gs. Definitely snappier than old phone, but, apple was trying to force people to upgrade, so, they didn't really care about updates killing the older models.

I've installed light flow and have my notifications set up. That's a cool feature I didn't have before.

Added a couple of ringtones. Still need to get my music on there.

I got all the way to the "are you sure" screen on the bootloader unlock. I chickened out right at the end.

Background data? WTH is that? Market used 130MB today of background data. I'm guessing that it was the initial installation of all of my apps? I have it restricted on many things at this point.

Camera is about what I expected. Nothing spectacular, but, it will be fine for me, for my phone.

Set up my VM with google voice, it was easy, I did a quick test from work and everything is there. Remains to be seen how it compares to the visual vm on the iphone, but, I think it will be fine.

You all knew this already, but, navigation is awesome!

I am getting used to things. I keep picking it up and checking something else out every 15 seconds.

Things to get used to...
1. Button placement. I keep hitting the volume buttons while pressing the sleep button.
2. I am going to miss the unified in-box from the iphone (unless it's there and I just haven't seen it yet.
3. I have to find a good way to manage my music. Suggestions?

Friends,
Got the new Galaxy Nexus this morning. Few hiccups, wonder anyone else had similar issues:
1. After 40 min of talking on the phone the earphone area is HOT:mad: I feel its going to burn my ear:( Did anyone else feel its gets hot on calls that last more than few minutes?

2. Installed Dolphin Browser HD from Market Apps, installed fine but does not launch, get white screen and hangs up, uninstalled it, powered down/up, re-installed it, same...

3. Indoor Camera pictures are horrible compared to the Samsung Skyrocket

4. Verizon tech support said go change the device and see new one is better. May be Santa is not happy with me :(

5. Like the Ice Cream OS though :)

Regards

How many people have the banding on the side of the screen?

I can see banding is some areas like the dark call log screen. I also see some grainy-ness in white background like sms. But I can really only tell when screen brightness is low. I have seen that the galaxy S2's also have same issue.
I don't think banding is a defective phone issue, I think it is the software from what I've read.

I have the same issue with Dolphin.

Finally got mine. Had to wait until after work (rep held one for me). While I was purchasing he said there was more excitement for this device today than even the iPhone 4S. Said there where around 30 people waiting at the door. Truth be told though this particular store is one of the busiest on the West Coast (supposedly). It's always packed when I am in there anyway.

Loving it anyway, but I haven't got to play with it much. My brother's birthday was tonight (got him a Razr which he loves so far) so I haven't had much quality time with the phone.

it may be a setting but the only thing i dont like is how it automatically adds a shortcut to your home screen when you download an app

Uncheck the "Auto-add widgets" box in the Market settings. Don't know why it calls them widgets, but it will stop adding app shortcuts to your home screen. Figured this out AFTER downloading all my apps. =/

Glad you like your phone! I love mine as well. Quick question -

I wasn't familiar with Light Show until you mentioned it in this post. I went on and was checking it out in the Market, but have a couple questions that the description didn't really touch on.

1) Is it for rooted devices only? I just want to make sure ANYONE can use this. I'm going to wait before unlocking and/or rooting.
2) Is it worth the upgrade to the paid version? I never mind paying a couple bucks for something if it's worth it. What do you think?

Anyone that has a clue about this is welcome to throw out their opinion! I'd love to hear them all!

Thanks so much and I hope you guys love your Nex as much as I do!

I'm not rooted, works like a champ.

I did get the paid version, so, I don't know what the free version offers. I saw it mentioned in "the mega thread" last week or so and looked into it then. Thought it would be worth the price. Give the free version a shot, it can't hurt, then, you can always upgrade later.
