Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I just canceled order from LetsTalk and placed an order from Verizon. I talked to a CSR and mentioned 3g to 4g discount. He didn't apply the discount at the moment I made the purchase, but left a documentation on my account so that I can contact customer service to get the discount. Does this sound legit to you guys, or should I cancel the order and go with other CSR?

Hmm, I don't know. I'm planning on calling tomorrow to see if I can't still get that promotion applied to my account.

This is what a second rep said about the order:
Brandon: What he did, is probably left a "note" so customer service would know to make the change.
You: okay
You: that's more comforting answer
Brandon: I hope I am clearing up things for you this evening.
Brandon: I totally understand where you are coming from.
I wonder what he meant by "I totally understand where you are coming from."

I'm disappointed that Swiftkey X is a bit buggy.

That is disappointing... I'm a big SwiftKey fan myself. Having said that, though... I have to say, the new stock keyboard is REALLY good. It's actually better than SwiftKey at interpreting sloppy typing. I may just stick with it.

Also disappointing: Dolphin HD, my preferred browser, also doesn't get along well with ICS. I'm back to the stock browser for now.

Hopefully the app developers will get this stuff sorted out in due time.

Welp, 13 hours with the phone and...I still love it. Battery life is on par with the best I ever got out of my Inc on MIUI (~3 1/2 hours of screen on time) though there is definitely something up with the OS staying awake constantly, might have root and ROM to fix it. Other than that, I'm in love with it.

I've thrown everything at it to try and slow it down and the only thing I've found that will do it is to transfer 16gigs of music onto and try multitasking, other than that it's a complete tank.

Oh and LightFlow is a must have for this phone. Seriously.

Well I'm back from dinner and cocktails and I'm getting the urge to root my Nexus. I'm enjoying playing with it, but if all the work I'm putting into customizing and loading it will be worth nothing if I root it later, it would make more sense to do it now.

I mean if Han can do it how hard can it be?

I unlocked and rooted my Nexus as soon as I got home with it...just as others have stated i'd do it soon as to not loose any hardwork during the wipe...the biggest setback for me was ensuring the SDK and ADB/Fastboot are installed properly along with the correct drivers!

Sometimes its the small stuff.

The fact that the boot sequence starts with Google in white on a plain black ground, and then just starts the OS without any of the Droid graphical and audio rubbish is such a pleasure. Made me smile. Hadn't realized how much that stuff grated on my psyche.

All is well in Nexico. G'nite.

Hey Capn - I'm seeing Thanks buttons on all posts as usual, but not yours. Quote button is there, but no Thanks button. WTF?

Hello all!

Loving my nexus already.. Unlocked, rooted and running Revolutionarys newest rom and running Nova Launcher (HIGHLY recommended) from rootz. I'm in the app so I can't post a link but look for it and use the update.zip file as well. Great update.

Also check the Nexus section for an app I found. The Netflix HD app. The stock app used SD resolution and stretches it to the screen but the HD Netflix app doesn't go full screen but the quality is amazing. Check it out :) hope everyone has a great device, mine has no hickups so far and I am soooo happy.

Oh good I found you guys, I was lost with my Nexus and iPad in bed tonight and the thread closed. I made a final post that was submitted 2 mins too late on the way out the door of VZW, of course it was lost in the world wide web delete bin. On the bright side...All discounts were applied and the mgr (wicked witch) went freaking nuts when the salesman showed her the note on my account about the 3G to 4g upgrade. After pacing and acting like chicken little she honored the discount. Others in the store picked up on what was going on and started demanding the same. I never said a word, she created the scene all alone. Screaming across the store at other employees about what was written down. It was classic, other shoppers were googling the discount trying to get it applied. They were all denied, she made a statement that if it was not noted on your account, she will not be offering the discount. The store was packed and the security guard looked like a dead man walking. Awesome day, made the cheapest phone purchase in my long history and I am loving it. Hope you are all happy too.

Hey guys, I know this is prolly the last thing you would like to hear but...

Galaxy Nexus, Rezound, Razr or wait?

Ive been sitting on an upgrade for about 6 months now and im anxious. The Galaxy Nexus is near perfect if it just had a better camera. I use a lot of my camera for recording guitar covers, and my Inc 2 just doesnt cut it. My Fascinate was good, but I no longer have that. The Video doesnt need to be the BEST but Audio needs to be atleast on the same level of the Fascinate or even better. The big problem I run into is volume control. I play loud and record loud, and the audio just cant handle it on the Inc 2. And this sounds weird, but I like the girth of the device. I like that is has both a big screen and a bit footprint. Thats where the Rezound is a little lacking. Its a beefy device but not really wide. (Im now realizing im setting myself up for something perverted...)

I like the Rezound but I want something that is well supported and over all I get a "Meh" feeling about the Rezound. Camera looks to be the best out of them all and Im a total audio phile so I like Beats.

I dont know much about the Razr, although I have heard from a number of people that Moto kinda screws over thier customers when it comes to properly working updates and problems.

Or should I just hold out until something a bit better comes around? If I had my choice of any phone, it would be the SGSII Skyrocket. Im just scared that it will be 3 more months or more before a properly speced phone is released. And like I said...Im anxious :p

And granted, I know im going to get biased answers, but im just mildly curious.

*Knocks on door*

Hey all!

I am still waiting to get my Nexus. I ordered last night (about 11pm my time) and still have not got a shipping confirmation and the blasted order status is broken. Since I was at work with a quickly draining battery I had my account manager give them a ring and looks like tomorrow before 3pm. And then I got to wait until I am off of work.

Is it confirmed that cases will fit GN with extended battery?

Edit: Oh and also, do Verizon stores sell the extended battery for GN? I don't see it anywhere on the website :(

I've heard that the cases do. Not sure of this myself.

Verizon corporate stores will sell you the extended battery. Also, they are 50 percent off, making it a 24.99 purchase. If you go and get one and it rings up 49.99, say that there is a promotion for half off of battery accessories. Worked for me.

I'm hoping this will be a great place to throw out questions of feedback for our beautiful new Nexi! BB, thanks for opening the thread.
Anywho, I didn't want to start a whole thread for this question, but does anyone know how the notification light works? By that I mean, I have no notifications, phone is plugged in and it's blinking back and forth red/purple. Is it just letting me know it's charged (it's about 97%), or just that it loves me? I know my Droid was very set on when it blinked and why, but this just seems pretty random.

Edit: One other quick question. I can't get SwiftKey to work. It's installed no problem and in fact the only selected keyboard, but it never launches. I've tried the long press on text, but nothing happens. Thoughts?

Double edit: Out of pure laziness, how do we use the Nexus as a mass USB storage? I wanted to post a screen shot but my computer wouldn't recognize it.
