UPDATE: Galaxy nexus now $149 ($199 upgrades!!)

I am eligible for an upgrade and I currently have unlimited data, which I heard Verizon will grandfather me in when I sign a new 2 year contract allowing me to keep unlimited data. Has anyone had any experience ordering the Galaxy Nexus from Amazon or any other 3rd party while maintaining the unlimited data plan? Or will I loose the unlimited data by not going through Verizon directly?

Would like to know as well

You keep unlimited data if you purchase from any authorized dealer.

Amazon is an authorized dealer and there will be an option that says

Pick your plan:

If you are eligible, you will get an option that says "Keep Unlimited". :)

How does it know this? You essentially log into your Verizon account through Amazon.

Man, this is a tough one. NE2 is the 29th, VZW agreed to bump it up to today. CSR is calling me in 2 hours to put the order in. With CA Tax it will come to $312.

Can't decide if it's worth getting today and paying an extra $8/day for the next two weeks just to get it early.

Wow. Forget Amazon. Just dealt with a CSR who was amazing, helped me bump my NE2 up to today. I was thinking I was going to pay around $250 + tax, and was shocked when she told me $86 which included the $62 CA Sales tax.

I think I may get that Transformer Prime after all.

Are you saying you got the phone for 20 bucks before tax? If so than thats a great deal. You might wanna double check though. Thats the first time I have heard someone getting it for 20 bucks.

Yup. California makes you pay tax on the retail value, so that's $62. I am a little nervous I misheard her, but that's just my mind playing tricks with me.

I wonder if it's because I purchased my Incredible in 2010 using a special promotion and not my NE2 at the time... does it just accrue value if you don't use it?

Here is their price match guarnatee that EXCLUDES internet only retailers.

Best Buy Price Match Guarantee - Best Buy

Im officially determined to get this phone for $150 so I plan to march into bestbuy locally and see if they will honor the Amazon price. Worse case I will just wait for Amazon to ship.

Jeff Bezos at Amazon has declared war on EVERYONE....I mean this guy added price check to everyones phone, amazon prime, the kindle fire, movie rentals and their is talk about an Amazon phone! I gotta buy some Amazon and Google stock. He seems like he is willing to make close to nothing on certain products just to get the shopping traffic. I love it.

Wait, what? You had a NE2 credit of $225??? Curious how you went from $250+tax to $25+tax. Can you PM me the name of the CSR you dealt with? :)

Unfortunately I forgot the name... which sucks because I would take time to write a very nice letter to Verizon regarding her. I wonder if it would be on my invoice anywhere?

I have no idea how it worked, but it did. A bunch of people think I misheard the price, which of course gotten into my head and without a confirmation email yet I'm a little worried... but nope that's what she said.

I'll report back if the invoice shows what type of discounts were applied.

If you call CS they have the names of everyone you've spoken to saved to your account. I confirmed this yesterday when the CSR I spoke to called up the name of the one I'd spoken to on Wednesday.

Also, for those of you concerned... This is the second time I have ordered a phone from Amazon that claimed it was backordered. I ordered the Nexus last night, and got the shipping notification today.

I think they do that for new releases automatically for some reason. I also recommend Amazon because they will price match for 30 days and exchanging / dealing with customer service is super easy. Never had a bad experience with the wireless side of Amazon. Customer service reps are here in the states, which helps too.

That's amazing to hear. I ordered my Nexus last night too, and have not heard anything (I got carrier approval). It would be AMAZING if I could get this next week.

You ordered last night and already got a shipping notification? :(

I ordered from amazon within an hour it was posted on Wednesday night and I haven't heard anything yet, the CSR at amazon said they are still expecting a Dec 29 delivery. Still labeled as back ordered.

Ok.

Quick update.

I called 3 Bestbuys and 2 said they don't price match Amazon.com. But the 3rd was a charm and the wireless manager said that they ABSOLUTELY price match amazon on wireless phones. She said this as if it was corporate policy.

Went down and picked up my Nexus fro $150 right from the local Bestbuy....

No waiting for Amazon.

I also bought something for $30 where they will buy back your phone in 18 months for $160.00 and give it to you in a store credit format. So when the new nexus comes out then instead of having to dump the old phone on Ebay you just drop it off with them and do it all over again.......The war between Amazon and Bestbuy is just beginning.
