So i noticed a bit ago that my phone was a bit warm after playing a game.battery monitor widget (BMW)said it was 98ish or so.that that big of a deal. I put it down for about 30 min or so on the table to let it cool down. No such luck. When i finally got the screen to power on, it was sketchy and the battery temp hadnt gone down. Pulled battery and wouldnt power on so switched to spare. When i got back into BMW, it said the other battery was dead( last reading was 28%). Spare battery......things were fine til about 5 min into Facebook. Last temp recorded was 110......so any ideas what could be causing this? Im running shiftaosp IC3.2 and have been for a few weeks.last time this happened, my wifi suddenly quit working, and still doesnt.

TIA

Moved thread to the thunderbolt all things root section.

Do you have the phone overclocked? Also was 4G on at the time this was happening, if so was it transmitting data?

If you are overclocked you may want to look into changing your kernel, dropping the max speed down, or setting up profiles using setCPU.

There are profiles you can set up in setCPU so if the temp gets above a specific # of your choosing it automatically clocks the max speed down. I would recommend setting that up.

Also if you were on wifi you may want to check the wifi sleep policy in the settings to see if that was turned on in general the radios will cause heat if you are getting a weak signal and if wifi turns off with the screen it could affect that.

Yeah, I should have remembered that. You should set the profiles in setCPU to make sure if the battery temp get back up it will scaled down the overclocking to try to cool down the battery. I am thinking your other battery may have just gone bad and overheated. Because the phone got too hot it caused the difficulty in turning on.

Haha nice facepalm! I did set a profile for that. I'm running my stock battery now and it heated up again last night prior to the profile but I pulled the battery and it was fine and has been since. I just got that rezound battery too so I hope it's not bad. It makes a big difference over the stock

For the first couple posts, I thought you had the same problem as one of the refurbished bolts I had. I put my 90% charged battery in the new phone and 15 minutes later, it was at 20% and was pretty warm. I turned off data and put it on the charger. 20 minutes later, it was at 5% and getting very hot. It nearly burned my hand as I picked it up and about 2 minutes after taking it off the charger, it died and would not power back up or charge. At the Verizon store, they put in an extended battery they had laying around and in the 10 minutes it was sitting there, it drained 25%. They still would not have another refurb shipped out until I told them it nearly burned my hand.

Better keep an eye on your phone. It might have the same issue as that refurb.
