Can't log into my Youtube acct on my Droid

Was wondering if anyone is having Youtube issues tonight (2-19-10)?

When I try to access my favorites and playlists, it's keeps asking me for my password telling me I entered the incorrect password or account information has changed. Nothing has changed. I am able to log onto Youtube on my pc with the same password, but can not on the Droid.

It was working just fine earlier in the evening, but I can't imagine what changed.

If I look under Accounts and Sync in the settings section, I see my gmail account and my youtube account. When I click REMOVE ACCOUNT under the youtube setting, it tells me I am going to erase all my messages and contacts. I thought I could reset the password this way, but I was concerned it was going to erase my gmail contacts as I don't have any youtube contacts and thus don't know what they are referencing.

Any help appreciated.

Athos... did you remove your youtube account under Accounts and Sync. I have two accounts in that section. One is gmail. The other is youtube. When I click to delete my youtube account, it asks me if I really want to do that because it will delete all CONTACTS and messages. I have no contacts in Youtube, thus I did not proceed I feared I was removing my entire contacts list from the google cloud. Just checking that I am removing the right account.
Thanks for your input.

So.. it looks like it's just me. Anthos fixed his problem, but I still can't log into Youtube.

I DID delete the youtube account on my phone (did not delete any contacts on my phone) and tried anew, but got the same message. I can log in online with the same password so I know I have the right one. I also linked my gmail and youtube accounts as it said to do online so that I should be able to log in with either account. It does not even recognize my gmail login.

Can anyone make an suggestions? I am at a loss.

Athos.. THAT WORKED! Using my full name.. username@gmail.com and gmail log in.

I deleted my youtube log in undersettings and tried again. I put in my FULL gmail address and gmail password. I had already linked my gmail and youtube online. I thought I had tried to log in with my gmail password before and it did not work. Perhaps I had not used my "full" name. Either way.. THANK YOU!

And on a different note... why is it that some videos on my playlist will not play on the Droid. When I look at my playlist on the Droid, some have an "i" in a circle on the right side of their name. Some don't. The ones with the "i" play, the ones without don't. They all play online. Is this a copyright issue with the Droid? Just wondering what the difference is.

Not entirely sure, I did spend a little time replicating your issue and I can only venture a guess that its something along the same lines of the HTC Eris' issue.

The app could be having issues pulling data from the site and just causes an instant time out.

Additional link for reference to the problem.

The little "i" in the circle on the right side of the list is definitely the key as to whether the video will play on my Droid. I just can't find a reference to what the "i" means. 100%.. if it has an "i", it plays on the Droid. If it does not have an "i", it does not. Does not make a difference in the youtube application on my pc. The HTC issues do not reference this i so I'm thinking we're dealing with a different issue. Am I the only one with i's on my playlist????

When I logged into youtube from my browser, these same videos will not play - says it's not supported on mobile devices and referenced WMG. I still think this has something to do with copyright infringement, but can't find any specific statement of such.

Not the end of the world, a mere inconvenience if that much, but I don't like leaving things unresolved so will continue to dig around to see if I can find the answer. At least I can get to my account, that's an improvement over this morning.

Started having this problem as well today, and still no luck in logging in. Something probably is wrong with the app because I know for sure my password is right, it works on the mobile site in the browser app. Tried the gmail workaround posted above but no dice. Guess I will just have to check it from my notebook til its fixed.

edit* just wanted to post back and say the fix above DOES work. After changing my email to the gmail address I had to link the accounts on the youtube site (had to click the box on the homepage that says find your friends on youtube to find the linker since it isnt in the account options) but then it worked when I logged in with the email address, thank you

I was really getting annoyed at this but I followed what everyone else in this thread did.

I had to re-login onto youtube and it asked me if I wanted to link my accounts which I told it to do. Then I removed the "username@youtube.com" account under accounts in the settings menu of the phone. Logged in user my username@gmail.com and the gmail password and it worked no problems.

I had the same problem with the youtube application adding @youtube.com to my profile name, and the login information being rejected by youtube.

The above solution suggested above worked for me. I linked my youtube to my gmail, and am able to log in with the application.

However, the application won't remember my login information. Anytime I come back to the app, I have to type out my full e-mail address and password. Every time I want to edit anything or post a new video, I have to type out the full e-mail address and password.

After using this workaround, has anyone managed to get the app to actually remember your login info? If you login with your @gmail.com address and password, it refusese to save that information. If you leave off "@gmail.com" it automatically adds "@youtube.com" to the end, and the login fails.

This application seems to have a serious flaw and I'm surprised more people haven't had this trouble. What am I doing wrong?

I just had a thought. My theory is that since my the droid youtube app stores its logon credentials in the same place as it stores the credentials for my gmail account, that it can't remember my youtube info with @gmail.com at the end, because that account already exists in memory. It's set to automatically sync, and I'm afraid I'll lose all my contact information if I delete and try to re-add this account.

Surely someone has a workaround for this. It has got to be a common problem.

well logging in with the gmail account and gmail password does work,,. but when i try to upload a video from my droid, there is a pop up that shows my YOUTUBE usernam e followed by the @youtube.com and theres no way i can change that.. it just has an area to put my password.. and then it tells me that my password is incorrect.. im really starting to hate the droid.. has anyone figured out how to upload videos despite this problem>?

If you mean by "THIS" account, you mean your youtube log in under Accounts & Sync under settings, it did not delete my contacts although it did bring up a message box that suggested it was going to delete contacts and messages. That confused me at first. Of course, if you delete your gmail account, that might have serious consequences.

I am not sure if youtube was broken and it fixed itself yesterday, or my logging in with my gmail ID (after linking it to my youtube acct on my PC) fixed it. It does remember my login and as soon as I go to My Account (press menu after starting the application to access My Account), I can see my youtube user name (not my gmail which is what I logged in with) on the top right side. I can also see my favorites and playlists.

This close relationship between google and youtube is confusing. When I logged in to youtube yesterday I was not sure if the settings I was trying to change were youtube or google so I changed nothing... just linked. I had thought it might be easier if google and youtube had the same password. That way there would be no deciding which one to use.

An observation:
When I was having issues yesterday, there were TWO accounts under Accounts and Sync. One was my gmail. The other was youtube. I deleted the youtube account. I logged in with my gmail username and password. Now there is only ONE account under Accounts and Sync. Not sure if this means anthing or just the way it is when you log in via google.

Home Screen | click Android button beside home button | Settings | Accounts & Sync | Click the account your trying to sign-in with on YouTube | Click Remove Account at the bottom | Go back to your home screen and try sharing your video again and select Youtube | When prompt to enter in your username you will need to use your gmail account that's linked with your youtube account. This works.
