I was having a problem with my droid incredible 2 where it would only boot up until the screen where there is a red circle with 2 red dots next to it and then it would start from the beginning a continue this cycle without ever fully booting up. I took it to a verizon tech and asked him if he could back things up off my phone without doing a factory reset. He said he couldn't if he couldn't get into the phone and he never tried hooking it up to a computer. At first, I thought he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. But after it was too late, I started to get the impression that he didn't try too hard at his job... I lost things that I didn't want to lose off my phone (which is only 3 weeks old). Was there anything else he could've tried? If so, I'm going to have a chat with Verizon about just how much money I owe them for this month's bill....

What type of stuff did you want backed up? Everything except emails and SMS would be on the SD card.

Sorry this happened but I don't feel you got screwed. In order to back up anything you would have to be able to get into the phone. To connect your phone to a computer to gain access to it would required you to mount the SD card which you need to get into your phone to do.

+1 it seems the tech didnt screw you, if the phone doesnt boot because its in a constant bootloop, then a data wipe is needed to get it to boot, may i ask what you were doing when this happened that you were unable to get the phone to boot back up?

For some reason, slacker radio wouldn't play, so I restarted the phone and then it didn't boot up all the way. Then I tried everything besides a factory reset. I had my phone set to sync contacts to gmail, but for some reason they weren't synced. The thing that made me the most upset was I lost lists I had made for myself in the Out of Milk app for stuff I need to study (I'm an airline pilot and there's LOTS of knowledge we're responsible for so I make a note every time I think of something I need to review again.) And I lost a girls phone number that I met the other day! Booooooo

Thanks for the responses

You should looking into Evernote -- it's a free note taking app that backs things up online. You can access your notes from a laptop/computer/phone. So if you lose one device... you won't lose any lists, just redownload the app and you're back in business on that device.

Take the SD out on the phone and boot the phone. If phone not boot up then do a factory reset by Hboot with out the SD. This way you will save what info that on the SD and only lose whats on the phone. If the phone does not boot up after factory reset then the phone itself is bad.

I hope this helps

I had a phone that did not wont to boot all the way, it turn out to be the SD.
