Returning the gnex: Rezound or Razr?

The reception on the gnex is terrible. I had hope for a radio update, but I recently learned the gnex is using the same radio as the Charge. Users of the Charge attest to poor reception throughout the life of their phone.

I love everything about the phone besides its radio, which is a make or break issue. This phone is broken -- there's no two ways about it.

The question posed in the title is for everyone: hypothetically, or if you have returned the phone, which would you replace it with: the Rezound or Razr?

I'm strongly considering doing the same, but its going to be a tough choice. I like the Razrs Amoled screen loud speaker and great reception. I love the Rezounds beautiful non pentile 720p display and it's comfortable feel.

A phones most important qualities for me.

Reception #1
Speaker loudness & quality #2
Screen #3

I have both gnex and razr. If reception is the #1 on your list get the razr.

Definitely the Rezound. I switched from the RAZR to the Gnex and I can tell you, the RAZR looks, feels, and performs like a last-generation phone. I feel a little bad for the people who bought into its hype (although from sales reports, not too many did.)

Personally I find the Razr quote comfortable and unique. To me it looks better than the candy bar smartphones that all seem to look alike. But then again that's my personal opinion...

Sales reports? Hmm... From what I've seen, and per the Verizon employees that I've talked to, the Razr has been selling OK. Maybe not shattering sales records but then again I don't want to have the same phone as everyone else. Vive la difference!

Whats wrong with the Razr? Its a stellar device imho.

It's all opinion of course, but my experiences:

- Poor display, especially when compared with the 720p goodness of the Gnex and Rezound
- Absolutely awful camera. Worse than any smartphone I've ever owned. My friend had a Bionic and I think they must be the same sensors judging by his experiences
- Non-removable battery, made worse by the fact that the battery life sucks
- Blurred Gingerbread
- Not a fan of the aesthetics/build

To me it just seemed like a slight spec bump of a last-generation phone (the Bionic... although I really feel for Bionic owners who really got screwed this go-around).

i have to agree. the razr performs like the past half dozen or so droid phones from moto.

many people did fall into the marketing hype about it's thinness, and also the "splash resistance" and kevlar, which are both essentially meaningless marketing ploys.

Yeah, I figured the appearance component would be very much a personal opinion. I will definitely admit that the Razr has a very unique design and I understand why people would like it. Just not for me, I guess.

agreed again. i hated motoblurr on my bionic, and i've tried the camera on the razr too, which sucks equally as much as the bionic's.

the razr's screen is a disappointment for me as well. it's too dark, and too low of a pixel density.

moto released the razrmax phone in china at the same time, and will release it here soon too (first quarter 2012). the specs blow away the razr and will most likely leave razr customers feeling screwed like the bionic customers. does moto even have a PR dept?

My guess is that the Razr Maxx will likely not hit the streets till Q2. As y'all found out with the GNex, Verizon doesn't typically move that quickly... ;)

Oh and there's a possibility that the Razr Maxx is actually what might otherwise be called the Droid 4.

there's been pics released of the droid 4. it's basically a copy of the original droid with the slide out keyboard.

i'm thinking there might not be much of a delay on the razrmaxx because moto used the chinese as beta testers this time instead of us lol :)

I have been using the Rezound for several weeks. It was supposed to be my 'renter' while I waited by the hour for the G Nexus. After 4 days with the Nexus, I think it's going back. I wanted nothing but for the Nexus to be my go-to phone for a long while to come. But I just cannot live with the poor speaker sound, regardless of apps that boost it. I cannot live with the camera's inability to take pics near the same quality of other phone cameras out there...particularly the Rezound. Lastly, I like the bright whites and overall brightness of the Rezound's LCD screen vs the Nexus' eggshell off-white screen.

To each their own. The Galaxy Nexus is a GREAT phone. ICS is nice. But the Rezound meets more of my needs. I think its a badass phone that lurked in the shadows while the RAZR and Nexus got all of the blog love and hype.

After owning the DX, I decided I would never buy another Motorola product. After owning several Samsung phones I also decided I would never buy another. After owning the HTC Rezound I can safely say I made the right choice.

I am very ocd when it comes to phones, but I can't find one thing about the Rezound I don't like. One thing I would like to see HTC do when ICS is released for the Rezound is to slim sense down a bit. It's just the right thing to do....
