I need to get my Droid Bionic back to factory stock. I tried flashing the fxd file using rsd lite. For some reason it fails on step 1 everytime. I was on the liberty 2.0 rom but I went back to stock motorola rooted rom using cwm. The thing now is everytime I turn my phone off or restart it, it goes to the fastboot screen and shows some error about the failed flashing process. I can press the power button to turn the screen off then hold the volume keys while pressing the power button to get into the stock recovery. From there I can reboot normally and everything works fine. I dont understand how to fix this so any help would be greatly appreciated.. Im on 5.5.886

You're not on 5.5.886 - not fully.

At some point you wee on 5.7.893, which changed out the kernel, and now you've tried going back to 5.5.886, but the FXZ file replaces (or attempts to) everything, including the kernel - which is the first thing it flashes. Hence the error.

I have the same problem as you - only I was trying to force the kernel reversion.

Right now, I just have to live with it. I'm still exploring an alternate solution to at least get rid of the error message. As soon as I have found one I'll let you know.

No, you can't flash an old kernel on top of the new one. But you can get the flash failed message to go away by using fastboot and flashing anything successfully. I used the releasedroot util and restored system when I ran into this. Then I just put CWR back on and recovered my 5.7.893 system. There is as of yet no going back if you've updated to 5.7.893. The kernel is the same as 5.5.893, but, its radio is one version higher, which is why 5.5.893 won't flash over it. Anyway, I hope that helps you get past the fastboot flash failed message. Just flash anything successfully. Someone posted one of the commands to flash that doesn't change anything but I don't recall off the top of my head what it is.
