Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I turned off Juice Defender because I was having a conversation on Gchat and these are my numbers -- its pretty awful.

2h 7m 30s on battery
61% - Discharging
Screen - 59%
Android OS - 20% (Keep Awake: 1h 33m 55s)

Not really sure what is good or not, but I know that my numbers are bad. Just not sure if they are "lemon" bad. Curious to see what happens when I get the extended battery.

Had a lot of issues getting the radio to initialize on wake up with JD. Wife is loving her battery life using it on her Rezound with no handoff/initialization problems. Maybe just needs some ICS optimization and we can use it.

And just like that :D build Dec 19

If anyone is running 4.0.3 yet (Bird's seems the most stable), Franco's nightly build Kernel is available for dnld. Conservative gov set as default and tweaked for maximum battery life and performance, but no CIFS, TUN, OC or UV. Those modules should be up tonight'ish maybe by tomorrow.

Are there any significant improvements to 4.0.3?

And what does CIFS, TUN, OC, and UV mean?

And conservative gov?

ha ha, sorry. Still relatively noobish.

And this is why I (we?) held out for a Nexus device.

Doesn't look like anything is really wrong on my device, no Kernel Wakelocks. This is weird.

Worked all weekend. This two jobs thing is getting to be a pain. Day 15 out of 20 without a day off right now. Oh well, at least I have a job at all, right?

Ewwww. Yes, having a job is good but you also need time to relax some. I hope there is some TKEnzy time soon.

Morning all!

BB...wow, you've made me gawk again at an animated avatar, lol.

Took my phone for a day trip this weekend and lasted 15 hours taking pics, videos, uploading them to Google+ and Youtube, general browsing, checking Facebook, 30 minutes or so of Navigation etc. All on 4G. Very satisfied over the battery life so far and I have the extended battery arriving today! LOVE THIS PHONE!!!

I have to give big thanks to Gapi as he is the one who found my avatar.

Damn, I don't know what I use that kills my battery but 15 hours is a dream scenario for me.

I charged my phone last night with it off to get a full charge. About 30 mins on the phone this morning, set up a widget, nothing big. Took the phone off the charger and turned it on around 7am and at 11am I am down to 53%. Thankfully, I sit at a desk and can plug in. I am going to keep it off the charger as long as I can today and see what happens.

I am not rooted and trying not be. Hopefully the extended battery helps (doubt it) or I'll be looking for some advice from you guys shortly!

I really keep things minimal. I turn my wifi off when I leave home. I keep GPS off when I am not navigating. I don't have tons of different things trying to sync constantly. I think the only thing I have set to sync is two of my gmail accounts.

I'm off the charger for 4 hours this morning and am down to 72%. I have absolutely no signal, which is typical for being in this metal covered (top and sides) building that I sit in all day. I'd say that's pretty good. I've played a few minutes of a couple of games and I have 2 e-mails with 1MB attachments trying to send whenever the phone gets a bit of a signal.

Yes there are a ton of code changes in 4.0.3 it is even smoother and faster than what we are used to on 4.0.2.

OC= overclocking the cpu (for those benchmark junkies)
UV= undervolting the cpu (for tweakers who want the best battery life possible)
CIFS= here
TUN= here

Modules in the kernel that make it more better :p

Conservative governor focuses more on conserving power (better battery life) vs something like Interactive or OnDemand which tend to have better performance and are more responsive. Although there are so many variables within that also play a factor.

Oh and I a newbie too no worries. Instead of reading books, I read about Android so in the process of learning.

That phandroid app is eating your battery alive BB. Your screen is at 34% and your Phandroid app is at 31%. You say your screen has been on for 53 minutes. Your Phandroid app is eating just as much juice as your screen, so by equating the two percentages of use, you can say you've effectively left your screen on for 2 hours. Quite a drain indeed.

If you're rooted you can flash it today if you'd like :)

But I think I read that you were waiting till something more stable (it needs a little work imo).

I'm rooted and unlocked; however, I do want official updates. Tired of running experimental buggy developer stuff like I ran on my Droid. I'll just wait for the official, let it update, then re-root (Think I read where you have to do that, right?)

I use the phandroid app a lot as well and I don't recall ever seeing mine that high, however, if she's been on the app all day for those last 4 hours it makes sense.

And yeah, the 2 hrs is right. I get about 3 hours of on screen time per full charge on stock battery. I have the ext battery, but haven't tried it yet
