No its not that bad. Does it have a few problems? Yes... BUT those problems can and will be fixed by a simple update.

haven't run into any of the issues, thankfully. 4g coverage in nyc is damn solid.

battery life could be better, but it is improving slightly each day after a full drain.

the only thing i'm concerned about is dropping this puppy. all in all, i'm very pleased...this thing is a head turner (the device that is)

it's what we get as first adopters. But yes, software patches will fix mostly everything.

Face Unlock is like Siri. It's "beta". 50% of the time is a bit exaggerated. It worked virtually every time as long as it's trained in various lighting situations (except when it's simply too dark). He probably was working off the initial face capture, or his long hipster hair was different when it failed.

One thing I do wish is that Face Capture kept its training in a profile. I dont like having to retrain it from scratch if i were to switch to a different unlock method.

They completely ignored the fact that there's an option in Settings to "improve face matching", which lets you teach the phone what your face looks like in different conditions and broadens the "database" for it to recognize your face from.

Oh how I love misinforming reviews... >_>

Ok, My thoughts on this article.....
Signal strength.... Myself, yes I have noticed slightly less service than my Droid X, but we all know that Moto does have the best radios (even if you don't want to admit it). the main difference is the number of bars the phone displays as that same issue has been addressed.

Face Unlock... No its not perfect, Google proved that when they introduced the device back in October. Its a gimmick feature much like Siri. I haven't had all that much trouble using it, and it even tells you that to gain more accuracy to "calibrate" the image in multiple situations.

Touchy touchscreen ... This sounds like it could be more of an app issue than a Nexus issue. Perhaps the app developers have yet to update the app for Android 4.0. small price for cutting edge tech.

My opinion.... so far, best phone I have had. Love the new features

i have had nothing but signal problems since i got the phone - sending an mms is almost impossible, 'delivery reports' are completely useless for both mms and sms, and the insane lag on the standard keyboard is ludicrous. also, transferring video files from my laptop to the phone fails about 2/3 of the time - says something like "device may have been removed" and all i can do is unplug the usb and plug it back in and try again, hoping for the best. and on two separate occasions, the messaging icon has just disappeared and i had to use desktop visualizer to re-create it.

this is my first ever smartphone, so maybe i was setting the bar too high, but i am definitely not impressed yet

I really don't have any problems with my phone it's superior to the rezound in almost every catagory

Face Unlock - I used it for a day and a half and it worked most the time I'd say 80% . Even when lighting wasn't perfect it would work most the times that it didn't work I had it at a really bad angle. But honestly I've never used key pin or patterns so I just like to unlock my phone so I stopped using it

Signal Strength - My 4G tether is better then it was on my Rezound however my call quality isn't as good and I have dropped 1 call , never dropped a call in my 6 or so months with my Tbolt or 4 weeks with the Rezound

Touch Screen- Haven't had any issues

all in all I lovethis phone .. Perfect ? nope but by far my favorite phone I've ever owned plus it's so damn sexy

I have literally experienced NONE of the issues mentioned in that article. Just goes to show you how fast news spreads in the media even if it's not entirely true.

News sites will always be quick to point out flaws but give it a few weeks and all the bad news will die down. Same thing that happened with iPhone 4 antennas.

In the end, this is the best phone i've ever owned. Had the iPhone 4s for a couple weeks and it doesn't even compare IMO yet most sites regard it as the best phone out there

I wouldn't be impressed either if I shared a similar experience as you did. Matter of fact, I would have returned it and either tried another, if I thought the one I had was a lemon of sorts, or gone to another brand. Why haven't you returned it?
