Just traded my GN for a Rezound

Hello all, just want to say, that the GN was an excellent phone with many cool features, but the one thing that drew me over the line was the battery life. I know there are issues with signal, and Android OS awake time affecting battery life and they will most likely get resolved via updates......but.... I just wanted a phone that works and is stable.

With that being said, I am still very interested in ICS, in fact, I'm installing an alpha on my old Incredible now to see how it works.

Update: So far it's still in alpha, and doesn't run as smooth as it did on the GN, but it RUNS!

Ok, good luck to all the GN owners!! Keep pestering Verizon / Google / Samsung to get these issues fixed!

I doubt there will be huge difference in battery life compared to galaxy nexus. These are smart phones are battery is going to suck regardless.

Knowing that I have 2-3 home chargers, car charger, extended battery, spare battery..always ready to go. Just depends what you use it for I use the hell out of my phone for games & movies.

Yeah, I wouldn't think the Rezound would have any better battery life with its mediocre 1620 mAh battery. I hope you get an extended battery, OP.

Yeah, i had rented the rezound for 30 days and the battery life was worse than the GNEX, and actually was a main reason for deciding to trade it for the GNEX. All around the Rezound is an awesome phone, but I do like the nexus better. Good Luck with it.

I had the Rezound and now have the Nexus. The rezound battery life was better than my nexus by about 20%. Reception was a lot better as well.

I'm getting 16ish hours battery life with my nexus.

Here's hoping that an update will even things our a little. If not I will be the proud owner of a rezound on Jan 14th.

do u think ics will always run smoothest on the nexus because it is a developer's phone and had heavy google influence?

or do u think the version u have now on your rezound is still too early?

i would expect the rezound to run ics just as smoothly no?

He installed ICS on an Incredible, not the Rezound.

When the Rezound gets the official ICS, it'll have HTC Sense on it, so I wouldn't expect it to be as smooth as the ICS on Nexus.

See, that's the thing. Many users on other forums say the Rezound, even with it's smaller battery, has better life than the GN. I'm going to contribute that to the Rezound running Gingerbread, which is a stable OS. ICS is new, and maybe other reasons such as radio reception may be attributed to the GN losing power so fast. And then there is of course, the Android OS high Keep Awake on ICS. From what I've read, those who upgraded their Nexus S with ICS also have experienced the drain. Who knows? We'll have the ultimate answer once the Rezound gets ICS and other devices too. Hopefully Google will take a look into this issue.

For the record, concerning my bad battery life with the GN, I had my GN on 3G only, and didn't use the 4G radio and still saw heavy drains.

Correct, I installed it on the Incredible. However, having used the GN and now just using the Rezound, I have to say that Sense runs real smooth. My phone really flies. Between unlocking and swiping the screens and opening apps, the Rezound really zooms by. I wouldn't say that the GN is faster....I would pretty much say they are both equal in smoothness and operation. I think Dual-Core cpus are no match for Android OS. HTC really did a great job integrating Sense onto Gingerbread.

I had the Rezound for a month and I can say the battery life is actually slightly worse the the Nexus I only have used the 2100mah battery but after a few charges I'm probably getting an extra 3-5hours on my nexus compared to my Rezound

But you can't go wrong with either phone the Rezound is a fantastic phone with an amazing camera , and it will only get better with ICS . Infact I'd say the Rezound with ICS vs the Galaxy Nexus is probably a draw both have there own strengths and weakness

I think the fact that the Nexus is running a new OS is why were having bugs Gingerbread has been around for over a year... Ever Nexus phones has some bugs to work out, it's almost like it's a tester phone for new OS

On another note, I know that opinions vary greatly, but personally, for me, the camera is SOOO Much better on the Rezound! Plus so many more options and settings to tweak and configure. And the shutter time for me is so close to almost instant, that I'm not even sure why Google / Samsung would put so much effort on the Zero Shutter Lag by reducing the quality of the cam. Really!

And let's not forget the external speaker. Holy Smokes! The Rezound's speaker is like a megaphone compared to the Nexus. This is especially important for me, as I use my phone as my 5:30am alarm clock. Even with the Volume+ App setting on 8, it still doesn't match the volume that the Rezound is capable of.

However, in contrast, there are some things I really liked about the GN. I like have the power button the right side. Also, for some reason, the power button and volume button on the Rezound are really flush to the case, making you really press a bit harder more. And I like unlocking my phone with a quick swipe to the right, and also being able to pull down the notification bar while the phone is still locked. I suppose I will be able to do those things once ICS comes to the Rezound, but until then, those features are really cool.

Honestly your OP was probably not a good idea the way some have been attacking people who say something bad about the prescious. Here is to hoping the thread stays clean.

Anyway, I think you made a fine choice. The Rezound has proven to have the best battery life of the 4G devices by far. Whatever HTC did with their latest version of Sense has clearly helped battery life. When I was running the Rezound and my Razr side by side for a couple of weeks the Rezound clearly has better battery life. I have since handed down the Rezound to my wife and she easily gets an entire 18 hour day out of the Rezound with battery to spare. I purchased a Galaxy Nexus for my son for his birthday and he gets about 6-7 hours Max out of his Nexus on a good day. In the end it sounds like you will be much happier with the Rezound. Enjoy your new device! Isn't choice awesome!?

Thanks for your reply! Yes, choice is awesome! I do wish I could have it all.... Galaxy Nexus Screen, Long Battery Life, Excellent Camera, etc....

Yeah, I didn't want to start any kind of bashing or anything here, just stating my personal experience. I was one of those people who originally looked at the Rezound and said "Why the heck would anyone want to get this when the GN is coming out soon?" But, honestly, all 3 devices have their ups and downs. The good thing about getting my Rezound is that my old Droid Incredible (which it replaces) is now my true 'fool around with custom ROMS' phone.

FYI...knock on wood, Been seeing a pretty strong data signal on 4G ever since the outage was fixed this afternoon.

You know what's funny? Dumb 4G outage made it take like an hour to activate my new phone.
