Boxwave vs. XO Skins

ok guys here it is. sorry i couldnt get a pic with the phone on but trust me, the Boxwave screen protector is on and its super clear. i'm also using the incipio case from verizon. took the picture with my wifes iphone 4.

I put the boxwave SP on teh GNex in the bathroom using lots of steam. took me a while to make sure there wasn't any dust on the screen but i finally got no bubbles.

it definately makes me feeel better knowing its well protected!

I thought it was supposed to be anti glare

i know its just me but putting liquid or "solution" on my phones screen to install a screen protector just scares me. thats why i prefer dry screen protectors. not to mention i heard you have to wait like a day for the solution/liquid to dry and may not be able to use your phone. not sure if thats what you have to do for the XO skin but i can say i'am relieved how nice the Boxwave came out.

oh and it its the "ultra clear" model and not the anti glare or fingerprints.

For the XO skin:

If you won't be swayed, then no worries. But I too was somewhat hesitant. I tried it and I LOVE it. It is crystal clear, which makes me assume no residue will be left or anything and since I've never seen any complaints about it I assume as well.

As to the waiting, it recommends not turning the phone on for 2 hours after application. So I did it before bed. Left it off all night, and when I woke up, slapped the battery in and turned it on. Absolutely zero streaks. Completely dry. No bubbles. Nothing else. It looked as good when I woke up as the naked screen itself and has maintained the look since.

The "wet" installation for the xo skin recommended waiting two hours after applying the skin. I waited slightly less then 2 before diving back in. It has been fine. Realize that right after you first put it on, you may see some streaking and whatnot, but once the skin sets it looks great!

I had zero wetness by the next morning. zero streaking. zero "What not." Flawless installation for me and it was my first wet protector ever. I even squeegueed right into the earpiece once. I know! But it didn't damage a thing (yet?).

I ended up ordering an XO. As much of a PITA as wet protectors are I feel they last and work much better than dry ones. I'm keeping my Skinomi (and all it's dust ) on until the XO comes. I used the sprintxo code others mentioned and it came to under $12 shipped. Which is twice as much as the Skinomi, which hopefully means it'll be twice as good and twice as easy to apply :p

My boxwave is on the truck for delivery today. I have experience putting screen protectors on 3 previous devices... every time it was a major PITA. I've only ever done dry applications

The steam idea in the bathroom seems good to me... but doesn't any of the steam condense of the phone while your laying down the protector?? that wouldn't be good with a dry application

ultimately I will feel much more comfortable with the GN if I can get a screen protector on it

Anyone who is using the xo skin and the diztronic tpu case, does the normal size xo skin fit or did you have to order the case fit sized screen protector?

Normal one fits fine for me. There's like a milimeter gap between teh screen protector and the case- that might be because I have the extended battery in though.

I love the XO skin. Installed beautifully, can't even tell it's there. The only issue is it seems to collect dust/lint way more than the naked screen, anyone else notice that? It's kind of annoying.

Installed the XO Skin a few days ago. This is my first time going with XO as I am a long time Zagg user. I used Zagg on almost everything I could. The XO is a lot clearer less orange peel. Installation was about the same. Used alcohol wipes before install. So far am really happy. Fit and feel of the XO is great not so rubbery as the Zagg.

Yes. I use some wipes from work that are made for safety glasses. There is alcohol in the wipes. Used them on my OG Droid 1 and Bionic and no damage what so ever. Use them on my prescription safety glasses and eye glasses with anti reflective coating and no damage either.

I ordered my XO skin today using the sprintxo coupon code. I've already gotten two tiny scratches on my screen, even being super careful. Very irritating, but it's nearly impossible to see them except at the right angle with the right lighting. I definitely know the screen will scratch fairly easily, so a screen protector is apparently necessary.

Just installed the XO skin last night. This is my first screen protector on any phone, so i was uncertain on how easily it would go on. Not too bad at all for my first try. As you can see, it is REALLY clear and hard to tell that it is even there. VERY happy!

Well, my XO skin arrived when I was out of town for the holidays. I was excited to toss it on tonight. Turned on the shower, steamed the heck out of my bathroom, worked out almost all of the bubbles....and noticed two half-inch long scratches on the screen...

So, either my skin arrived scratched or I managed to scratch the skin with the application card...neither of which is acceptable.

Either way, I'm pretty pissed right now.
