Stopped reading when you said the Incredible took "professional looking" pictures. lol

I found that pretty funny also. It's a good thing most folks only post their phone photos on the web or print them on something like a 4x6 because I can't see too many phone photos being blown up to say an 11x16 without it being very noisy.

I'm coming from a droid Inc and I got my Galaxy nexus last night.

I have to respectfully disagree with the OP. I think the only thing that is better on the droid incredible is the speaker. The speaker is louder on the droid incredible.

I called FedEx last night about my extended battery and the call was crystal clear. On my droid inc the call quality wasn't that great.

As for app functionality the only thing I'm missing is the count down timer. I'm guessing that was a sense UI thing. So now I need to find an app that does a count down timer. I use it for cooking and when taking naps :p.

I use Stopwatch & Timer for that.

Interesting thread. I'm using a Dinc w/ CM7 and ADW Launcher EX. I'm debating a gnex or just keeping this phone for another 6 months and see what is out then. Wih my current setup being rock solid threads like these aren't persuading me yet that the Gnex is a significant upgrade.

I have to agree that at times the incredible camera may be better and I don't think the 8mp is everything . It was ahead of its time in a lot of ways.

I took a bunch of pictures for work yesterday. It was great how quick it was, but many came out blurry. If I touched to focus it was OK, but they still didn't look that good. I would guess that the pictures would have been better on my dinc.

The good news is they all uploaded to Google plus without me even noticing. The bad news is that Google +, destroyed my battery.

It sounds like im in the minority - overall I agree with the OP. I was another one running CM7 almost the entire time, hardly remember Sense version.

Battery - I had the HTC TouchPro battery + CM7. Wasn't remarkable but I could use the phone as I wish and not worry. The GNex w/ extended battery seems about the same.

Camera - The D-Inc's camera had its own quirks, I have taken some outstanding pictures with it. While the Zero-Lag is neat, the GNex pictures aren't very good. I would sacrifice some lag for some better focus.

Size - The GNex is a bit thinner, but obviously larger. I actually prefer the D-Inc but seem to be adjusting to the GNex. Weight is about the same (both non-stock batteries).

Screen - Honestly, I prefer the D-Inc. Colors are outstanding, brightness is acceptable, no weird tints at angles or in low-light. Might be due to pentile?

Performance - While the D-Inc is nearly 2 years old, it still keeps up fine. I have no lag on either.

Speaker - The D-Inc had a great speaker, but it did crap out eventually. At least it only cost $5 to replace. I think I'm going to have to get used to using a bluetooth for the GNex.

Overall, I almost bought the Rezound because of how much I enjoyed the D-Inc. I'll probably stick with the GNex - mostly for the developer support and others on the same phone-schedule as me, but I'm having trouble accepting this a real 'upgrade'.

I will be upgrading from the DINC also on the 29th. In fact they let me upgrade early, but quoted me a phenomenal price and then didn't stand by it, so I canceled that order and decided to wait and buy from Amazon. Of course now Amazon is sold out, so the wait could be for nothing.

Anyway, regarding the Nexus pictures... is there a chance a software update could increase their quality, or is it a hardware issue?

Also, just as a side note since we have so many DINC users here... what are you planning to do with yours? I considered keeping it as an MP3 player, but that seems like 1 too many devices since I will have the Nexus.

I too came from the Inc, but I disagree with everything except for the battery life part and possibly the speakerphone. The camera is a leap better than the Inc's thus far, but my rooted and ROMed Inc was definitely better on battery. That said, I had to do some work to make that happen and I'm just using the Nexus. No customization yet at all and I don't really plan on starting until MIUI is released and stabilized. This phone is WAY faster than I ever got my Inc to be, its really no comparison IMO.

I did love the Inc though, couldn't beat the dev support on that phone, can't wait for the Nexus to catch up.

Thank you to the OP for this topic as I know MANY people are looking at this as an upgrade to their Incredible including me. I'm taking it slow and reading a lot of the various threads and reports of problems before I do anything. I still need to go into the store and play with it, so far I only looked at a dummy model at Best Buy for about 5 seconds.

If many of the reported issues get fixed in a reasonable amount of time I'll probably buy it. Right now my main concerns are battery, signal, 4g to 3g issues, and screen discoloration. Obviously there's a lot of other little issues being reported, and I'm assuming 99% are fairly common with a new phone running a very new updated OS version. For now I'm just gonna be patient until the phone has a little more time to get settled. I figure after it's been out for a month we'll have a better idea of what's fixable and what isn't.

Please keep up the feedback if you've made the switch from an OG Incredible. Interesting to see direct comparisons since I'm not as familiar with many other phones the SGN gets compared to regularly.

Another "from Incredible to Galaxy Nexus" person here. I do wonder how the OP has a 2+ year old Dinc when it released on April 29th of last year...:p Anyhoo, here's my thoughts so far:

Form factor:
The Nexus seems HUGE sitting next to my Incredible. Both phones are thin and light. The Incredible is great for one-handed fast use, but suffers from the need for more precise input when a lot is crammed onto the smaller screen. The Nexus takes a small bit of getting used to, but its well worth the extra space. I haven't miss-clicked a link, keyboard button, or checkbox yet on the Nexus. The plastic on the Nexus seems more scratch resistant than the soft-touch and glossy black used on the Incredible. I could go on, but in my mind there's no need.
Winner - Galaxy Nexus

Screen:
Incredible - 3.7" AMOLED 480x800 pentile matrix - was great for it's time, and still looks beautify today. With the advancements of screen tech, it does show it's age though.
Nexus - 4.65" Super AMOLED 720p pentile matrix - blows away the Incredible. Colors are richer, wayyy better in direct sunlight, details are clearer, and the pentile is not noticeable. Whites are slightly less white than on the Incredible, but it's only noticeable side by side. All the pros outweigh this.
Winner - Galaxy Nexus

Battery:
It's hard to definitively judge this, especially since the Nexus is young. At first, my Incredible had not so incredible battery life. Ever since I got into modding and flashed CyanogenMod, there was a huge increase in battery performance. I could go 8 hours with moderate usage and be at 35% by bed time. Not too shabby. On the Nexus, since I have only had it less than a week now, I can only say what I have experienced so far. In about 8 hours of light usage, I've been around 70% by days end. I've been busy and not had a lot of time to use my Nexus during the day much recently, so I can't come up with a real comparison yet.
Winner - No clue yet

Speaker:
The Incredible is definitely louder than the Nexus out of the box. Like most, I have been using the Volume + app to compensate. With the app installed they are about the same loudness. What I've noticed with the Nexus is that volumes are inconsistent. The ringer is decently loud stock, but watching videos or playing music is much quieter. I'm thinking the Nexus could use some sort of software tweaking here, maybe some kinda of audio normalizing.
Winner - Incredible... for now

Camera:

I've taken many beautiful pics with my Incredible of scenic places, it had a great camera and still does. It was way ahead of it's time for a phone camera when it came out. I haven't had the chance to really experiment with the Nexus's Camera much. Mostly just messed around with the cool effects so far. Low light isn't great it would seem, nor was it on the Incredible. Daylight shots seem good. I'll have to mess with this more when the opportunity to take great pics arises.
Winner - More info needed

Performance:
The awesome performance of the Incredible is probably the main reason I was able to wait around for a phone like the Nexus to come. With CM installed, the phone runs amazing compared to some newer phones. It will still run almost any app available to it off the market and the lag is few and far between. With that said, the Nexus blows it out of the water. Literally no lag for me since I got it. Things that would make the Incredible bog down a little, like some intense live wall papers, this phone eats for breakfast. Dual core, dedicated GPU, Hardware acceleration? Yes please.
Winner - Galaxy Nexus

Sexy factor:
Fully black front with no carrier branding, curved screen, thin, minimalistic. Sorry, Incredible, Verizon's makeup job doesn't do it for me.
Winner - Galaxy Nexus

Dev Support/hackablity:
No contest

No regrets upgrading to this phone, it's a worthy replacement of my trusty Incredible.

I got my Incredible two days before release. I've been eligible for annual upgrade for months now so I can order the GN online right now for $250 with my corporate discount. If I was six months off my NE2 date, I'd pull the trigger, but being my last benefit of the NE2 credit, I'm holding off until the 27th. At that point, it'll be $199 on contract. I know that third party retailers can honor upgrade pricing within a week of your upgrade date, so as of yesterday I could get it anywhere (Amazon, Letstalk, etc). Unfortunately, they're all now over $200 on contract. I would have pulled the trigger this past weekend for the $175 upgrade at Letstalk, but alas I missed it by a few days. Oh well. Reading all the stuff on here, I'm a bit worried that the wow factor won't be as good for me coming from the Droid Charge. I hated pentile on the Incredible and I have to say SA+ is phenomenal. I really wished they were able to get an HD resolution without using pentile on this phone.

Might as well get it now. Corp discount and ne2 done stack. Its one or the other.

Same here. I've only had my Nexus a couple days and so far my only gripe is the speaker. Because of this I'm still using my Dinc as an alarm clock :p

I listen to Pandora a lot (and now google music) on my phone. I have a pair of awesome X Mini II speakers that I rock when I'm getting ready, at work, or doing chores. I listen to music on my headphones when I am mowing the yard etc. It works fine for me, but for some reason the sound doesn't seem as loud when using the Nexus, however before on my Dinc it would make a weird sound on certain high notes, like it was straining or something.

I have an X Mini II that I use with my phone all the time (partly because the Dinc speaker, while nice and loud, blew on me a long time ago). Do you find using a second one is a big improvement? I know they're capable of working in tandem but I never seriously considered doing it. Is it louder? I love mine for everything except when I'm in the shower - I can only barely hear it over the sound of the shower.

Anyway, a little off-topic, but this is the part that caught my attention. I love my G-Nex. My hands are too shaky for me to get pictures like the ones you got out of your Dinc anyway, so I like the no lag camera. And I took some HD video the other day that looked amazing - MUCH better than anything I ever got out of the Dinc at 720p. I loved the Dinc too, but I'd have traded ten of them for one 4G phone by the end.

All in all, if your a phone snob and enjoyed the HTC incredible especially if your a root user, you will probably enjoy the nexus. I think at this very moment comparisons are hard to make since ICS is so new. Development has just begun. That was one of the great things about the inc, the phone was cutting edge and the development brought that phone to new levels. Just look at the mega thread and all the crazy things you could do! I am very happy with the Gnex and very anxious to see what the developers can do for this phone!

I get 18-24 hours easily on CM7 w/ Chads Kernel running 3g 50% Wifi 50% 24/7 on the Incredible.

I hope I can get even half that when I upgrade to the Nexus.

I was getting a little better then that with the EVO battery and a similar set up with CM7
now I'm getting easily over 12hrs out of the nexus I imagine once we get some good OC/UV kernals 20+hrs won't be out of the questions especially on the 2100battery

I came from the Dinc, too. Loved the Dinc, and still kind of prefer the form factor and I liked HTC Sense, with some of the built in functions, and the Facebook integration. However, if I never see a "low space" warning again, it will be too soon. The only way I could keep that God forsaken warning off my notification bar was to limit which apps I installed.

Still getting used the the Nexus but so far so good but it is taking me forever to stop pushing the top to wake up the phone. I miss little things like thunder and lightening shooting across the screen, timers but there are other things now that I don't know how I loived without.

Well, as the OP, I should clarify some since my original post didn't express my opinions clearly enough, some people are getting the wrong idea.

If you have a Dinc, and you can upgrade to a GNEX, do it. Its an awesome phone, its just not as awesome as I had built it up to be in my mind.

Its a lot like hearing all these great things about a book or a movie, but when you finally go read/see it; its only good compared to amazing and mind blowing. If you have super high expectations, like I had, you will be disappointed. This phone is better than the Dinc, I just expected it to be more amazing in every way possible. I had a HTC Touch Pro before the DINC and the upgrade from the Touch Pro to the Dinc was like going from driving a Ford Focus to a Mustang, I was expecting this to be like going from the mustang to a Ferrari. Its more like going to a BMW.

The few minor issues I have right now, that I really need to get fixed- IF you have any advice as to how to fix these little issues, then the phone will start living up to my expectations.

1. My battery life is horrible. I obviously have a lemon, or some program is continually running and draining it when it shouldn't be. Either I need a new phone/battery or a software update will fix it.

2. I don't like the camera. Sorry- just a personal preference. My wife got the new Droid Razor, and the Gnex camera is WAY better than it. My Dinc camera just always was reliable for me and took awesome pics.

3. I miss the ability I had to start typing someone's name on the dialer screen and it would bring them up. I used to laugh that I could type 666 and it would bring up MOM. Is there something that I can get that will do this on the nexus? Is it capable of this and I just don't know? I do know that I can hit the search key and start typing their name- it just takes a few more button presses and I don't like that.

4. I cannot get it to pick up my voice when in the car dock. I have to yell, which I can't do right now since I have a cold. I don't want to have to hold my face 2" in front of the phone when in speaker mode. I wonder if this is software, could the road noise be effecting it?

5. When I try to watch a movie, its SOOOO quiet. I can't do it without adding significant speakers. The same movie file is super loud when played on my laptop. I hear people telling me to get an APP called Volume +, when I finish this I'll go check it out.

to rezeew- I like having 2, or even 3 of the x minis, but each one doesn't double it, more like multiply by 1.5. I also have an Altec Lansing speaker that is larger than the x minis but it pretty much the same. It runs on AAA batteries but I've had it for at least 3 months and haven't had to replace them with light usage. Its a lot louder but has no volume control. I can easily hear it in the shower. I often run 1 Xmini and the Altech together.

What bitrate are you using when you convert your movies? I always set my audio to stereo w/a 256kbps mp3 setting. You may need to take it up to a 320kbps. I have some movies already converted for the GN, but I haven't picked the phone up yet; likely after Xmas.
