Nexus vs Dinc

I'm not too active on this board, mostly on AC, but I think this is an interesting discussion.

I actually can't believe some people like this camera. I mean, its the one thing that got panned in literally every review, and I find the pictures to be so noisy and flat that I really just don't want to use the thing to take pictures. I'm at stock settings -- are there options anyone can recommend that I change to achieve better results? All of my pictures look all halo-y and fuzzy like the OP's...

As for speakers, I just did a side by side comparison on my Dinc and Nexus. Same song (Arcade Fire, Keep the Car Running), same app (Amazon MP3). The Incredible kicks the Nexus to the curb. And that's with Volume+ cranked.

As for battery, I get about the same now that I disabled Google+. ;-)

I just did a comparission of my pictures uploaded on G+, and man both phones suck taking pictures indoors. I use my Sony DSLR most of the time, so I am spoiled with that.

On my phone, the pictures look great, I have no issue with it.

I did notice after comparing that the GNex does take great pictures when there is light, and even better outdoors with natureal light than that compared to the Dinc.

However, the Dinc is 2 years old so the GNex should be better, and should be a lot better than it is.

Agree that Samsung F'ed up with not placing the GS2 camera in the phone...I do not understand this decision for the life of me.

This is not enough to deter me from my GNex, no way. It is still a good camera, just not as good as to what is available with almost every new phone out there.

Most of phone reviewers are not so professional photographers and they often do rough camera testing at default setting only. They normally just go by MP spec to judge the quality of camera, which is completely wrong. And it looks like there are some lemon cameras in Gnex as I saw a lot better pictures too.

Overall I feel like Gnex camera could have been better like SGSII, but it's not because of 5MP sensor. It's mostly from the stock ICS camera software, so I would rather blame Google for that and expect better camera from updates.

So far my first impressions of the GNex are very positive. Quick first impressions below...

Cons: speaker volume is way too low (will download Volume+ and see if that helps), the voice in GMaps navigation freaks me out... sounds like she is crying or something, I miss name dialing as previously discussed in this thread, i miss the optical scroll wheel... made for much easier cursor placement when typing

Pros: if i never see the low space warning again it'll be too soon.... i was getting the warning every day and was continually clearing the data/cache of my apps, LTE is faster than i expected... it blows away my fios wifi at home, the extra real estate for the keyboard is nice... my fat thumbs mis clicked letters, links etc all the time, I like the fast camera shutter... so many awkward moments asking people to hold their poses while my DInc focused several times and finally snapped a pic, the bigger s reen is great too as I use my phone mainly for twitter and web browsing (and posting on forums ;-) )

All in all I see it as a significant upgrade over the DInc for my uses. Not as big of a jump as I saw when I upgraded to the DInc from the LG Dare, but I'm liking it so far. I imagine it will only get better as I get accustomed to the GNex and people start developing for it more.

my inc was a piece of crap. the GN is much better in every way.

Hahaha, I never realized you could place the cursor with the optical scroll wheel. Now I just found a great feature on my Incredible, and plan on taking full advantage of it for the remaining four days I'll be using it.

Haha. I exactly mirror your story and upgrade path. Storm > DInc > Nexus. All on release day.

Everything about this phone blows away the DInc. 4g, web browsing, screen, camera, battery, charge time, feel in my hand, availability of updates (in the future), NFC, ICS, etc....

The nexus is a good phone, but it doesn't blow my 2+ year old Dinc out of the water, which it rightly should. The camera is not only not better, its considerably worse. The battery is awful, but I feel like its possible that a software update will fix 90% of my problems.

The Incredible was an awesome phone. I had one. I traded it out for a Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt took better pictures than my Incredible, the Galaxy Nexus takes better pictures than the Incredible. How you could say that the camera on the Incredible is better in any way is mind boggling. The Incredible had a horrific battery, itself. I see way better battery performance from the Galaxy Nexus (though the Thunderbolt had pathetic battery life).

I still think that the Incredible is a great phone. I really missed it when I upgraded to the Thunderbolt. The LTE kept me happy until I could get something that I wanted. The Galaxy Nexus is pretty much everything I could have asked for. I don't expect it to take pictures that rival 400 dollar cameras. I don't expect it to give the same experience as a desktop PC (as a gamer, I doubt any mobile device could compete with my rig). The Galaxy Nexus is a great phone. Hands down.

Enjoy the fact that you won't run out of app space. Enjoy the fact that ALL APPS can read your internal storage. Enjoy the fact that your device will get regular and timely updates and you aren't at the whim of HTC and Verizon. Enjoy the fact that you can finally get away from Sense and the experience doesn't suck (until 4.0, anything without Sense pretty much sucked for me, personally). Just enjoy the phone, it's a great device and with continued support and loads of development it will only get better.
