Help Resetting Camera photo file names

I Love my HTC Droid Incredible. I have no problems using the camera or moving images where I want them (Facebook, Flickr, or my PC). As I take photos, they are saved as a file name like "IMAG0029.jpg". They sequentially increment. I am fine with that.

What I would like, is, a way to re-set the embedded number to zero; either when the camera is empty (after a download), or manually.

What I'd like to know is how to ADVANCE that number. I've already got pictures up to like 600 then I had to get my phone replaced. And so now ive got IMG0001-1.jpg IMG0002-1.jpg etc. Sure I can sort by modify time, but that's a hokey workaround. Anybody know how to do this? Thanks.

I would like to find an answer to this also.
I drop all my camera photos in one folder on my computer and since I've replaced my phone, it's all jacked up.
I've been looking and finding nothing.
Anyone?

Reposting my solution here:
I'm rooted, and this solution worked for me:

1. In Root Explorer (or any root file manager), browse to "/data/data/com.android.camera/shared_prefs".
2. Open "com.android.camera_preferences.xml" with a text editor.
3. Toward the end of the file, find this line (where "9" is the index number of the last picture taken):
<string name="counter_image">9</string>
4. Change the "9" (or whatever it is) to the number you want. (Personally, I changed it to "209", and later I manually renumbered the 9 images I had already taken as 0201, 0202, etc.)
5. Save changes and exit.
6. REBOOT THE PHONE.
7. Try taking a picture. It should start at the new number and go sequentially from there.
